Honestly, I'm fine with this year's CYL. It's a good return to form after the last 2 years were dominated by 3 Houses characters, especially compared to last year's #1 spots both being 3H side characters (one being a nameless NPC). Shame the Farfetched banners were killed by Jorge though, it takes so long for new heroes to be released nowadays based on their popularity.

I'll take 3H character over Fates though. No Ferdinand for instance.

I will mostly agree on that. However, I always felt that the Brave Heroes were primarily for Lords and pseudo-Lords like Lilina or the Fates Royals. It just didn't feel thematically appropriate for side characters to be on the banners many times. Lysithea stood out like a sore thumb, and I should not have to explain my reservations about having a nameless NPC that never fights be the winner last year.

I’m glad chrom got his cyl alt. Now to hope he gets that awakening exalted falchion. Make it happen IS. If Marth and Alm can get CYL alts with powerhouse falchions, so should chrom. @HIVidaBoheme

It’s also great that Seliph is getting a cyl alt because we haven’t gotten a jugdral character that has gotten a cyl alt. Maybe he’ll get something great.

And as for adult tiki, we have not gotten a cyl alt of a dragon unit. So maybe her breath weapon will be spectacular. And a dragon slayer too since they like to give her that kind of breath weapon.

I can say with near certainty that Brave Byleth will get Snow Mercurius, simply because that would finish the theme of Three Houses Lords having Archanean Regalia with a Prefix based on their route. Unfortunately, that means Chrom likely won't get an Uber Falchion unless they decide to break pattern and give B!Femleth something else.

Seliph's secondary weapon type was lances and his mother was a light mage, so I'm guessing he'll be the Brave Blue. Hopefully he gets a sweet lance or a mighty light spell.

Tiki's the definite Wild Card here, though I expect her Brave alt to take cues from Naga. Expect a dragon-slaying weapon and a very low cut outfit.
 
I am pretty content with these results. Chrom and Byleth i am completely indiferent to but Adult Tiki winning is great just because it made all the pedos at /feh/ get butthurt on atomic levels, and the Jugdralfag in me is happy Seliph won, sure i like Sigurd more but this is a chance for Seliph to get an alt that isn't godawful like his legendary, hope that optimism doesn't strike back and he ends up being awful again.

She is a regular pool unit, meaning she is less rare than legendaries, mythics and seasonals that only show up for a limited time, her fodder isn't that interesting for a lot of people if you already have her, which most people do since she was sparkable in 2 banners already, and most meta units nowadays can counter her easily, so if you are an esportsfag she is hard to use at best and bad at any gamemode that isn't PvE at worst, also a lot of people just hate her because she is Edelgard.

You would need a strong enough beast slayer like brave eliwood or A strong enough tank buster like brave Alm and brave eirika to take her down

Aside from the Edelgard favoritism that haunted Feh for the past three years, Hegemon Edelgard is a notoriously unfair unit to fight.
  • She has sky-high defense and resistance even with no skills
  • Armored Wall gives her damage reduction, post-battle health, and gives her the Special Fighter effect as long as she is above 25% health
  • Twin-Crest Power gives her a no-charge Galeforce if she initiates combat to basically ensure any unit that survives the first attack is destroyed by a Bonfire-boosted second attack, Distant Counter if she transformed, a -6 penalty on attack and defense, and a Wary Fighter effect as long has Edelgard is above 25% health
  • Armored Stride removes her movement weakness as long as she starts her turn away from allies (which she should in order to transform), and it counts as a bonus for Ideal skills, so Edelgard's Atk/Def Ideal 4 means that she can get a +9 bonus to her attack and defense if she is at full health and under the movement bonus of AS.
  • Beast-slaying weapons are rare with 1/3 of them being unique weapons of Seasonal Units, most of them target Def (so Hegemon Edelgard can still usually laugh them off), and even Hapi is likely only going to wound Edelgard before getting destroyed during retaliation.
  • Armor-slayers are more common, but most are physical weapons and the Micaiah's are notably physically squishy, so it is hard to get a player-phase KO. Adding insult to injury, some players will feed a Sheena to Edelgard so that El will have the Svalinn Shield, meaning you can't use armor-killing weapons either.
  • Sacred Seals means that players can slap on Mystic Boost to increase the post-battle healing even more to the point that you may as well not attacked at all.
  • You need a very specific team to beat Hegemon Edelgard in the arena, and this specialized team is then weaker against other teams.
Every single player getting a Hegemon is only going to make the game more cancerous, alongside convincing IS that they need to turn Dictator-chan into Camilla 2.0.

I get the feeling this is going to be the same situation with previous AHRs where Edelgard alts have been btfo'd during the first round.

And if not, at least there are some direct counters to her making it into the VG pool in case the cancer wins.

That's IS new strategy to make players buy FEH Pass: free summon at 40 summons on seasonal, Mythic and Legendary banners which weren't sparkable before. You can still get your free summon from normal New Heroes banners without the pass.

Oh they also give you one Celestial stone with your free summon in those special banners only if you pay the pass.
