Unrelated to anything specifically, but has anyone else gotten really good at detecting trannies based on how they look in 14? Like, never interacting with them but the colours and clothes and races they chose is just instant "that's a tranny" flag and usually verifying it by looking at adventure plate or whatever? And I mean not "that's a dude playing as a female character" but like full on tranny.
Probably wrong (sorry @Dopey Cunt) but I tend to consider fem Viera as trannies most often, being tall/exaggeratedly feminine and curvy. I always consider female Hrothgar kind of suspect too, they're not cutesy enough that a typical weeb would pick them but also not something I'd expect a true and honest woman to pick.
Miqo and Au'ra have troons by virtue of just being popular but I wouldn't be able to separate them from regular autists just by outfit alone. Fem Elezen are too rare to comment, Roe as well plus they would hit a little too close to home for the hons.
Female Lalas in my experience have a decent ratio of real women, but the few degen guys and trannies willing to play them are easy to spot.

Re crafting, I got through the levelling grind in EW and was briefly an omnicrafter/gatherer but lost the itch quickly. I think it's just my instinct in games, I've learnt throughout the years that having too much money in an RPG actively makes it less fun. So when I have too much, I always want to spend it. I could buy a house again and dump gil into furnishings, but then Yoshi P has you in his clutches...
There's literally nothing to spend gil on unless you're buying day 1 raid gear (not even necessary now that Savage is delayed) or you're rushing to be one of the first pentamelded omnicrafters on your server. Beyond that, what. You can try get a large FC house, I guess, since you can use alts to also bid on the plot? The gil sink mounts are too few and far between to actually make a dent in any rich player's wallet. I could buy all of the ones they've added since ShB and still have gil left over to pentameld next expansion on week 1 buying all my materia off the marketboard.

Pretty much all Hrothgar are degenerates in my experience. But before female Hrothgar, it was pretty much exclusively gay men and/or sex pests. Now with Sena being essentially the face of FemHroths thanks to Wuk Lamat, I've seen quite a few troons playing them.

I was gonna comment on how I don't think I've seen pooners play either of them, but now that I think of it, I don't really know any who play FFXIV

God that reminds me, I was in a duty roulette the other week and there was a pair of players, obviously alts, named Wuk Lamat and Queen Sphene, or something along that lines, that were fully glammed up in the correct outfits. All I could think at the time was, "That's definitely A choice" but FFXIV being what it is I sure as fuck wasn't going to say anything in game.

Sindalf, who used to be a member of Thoughts Per Second which was the group that won the world first race to clear The Epic of Alexander (Ultimate).

During the fight, they used a mod to dynamically move their waymarkers around in order to more easily clear the mechanics and almost immediately after the WF concluded, Square-Enix made it so you could no longer move waymarkers during combat so a lot of people considered this clear to have been done via cheating (the raiders in Japan were especially pissed about it).

Like I said, "sorta." No one really cared about addons in WF until TEA (because that's around when people started streaming it heavily), but it's still a somewhat contentious thing and people still bring it up whenever Sindalf goes on one of his troon rants about how he's a raiding god.

JP also made up insane conspiracy theories about TPS emulating TEA on a private server to datamine the progression timeline, and then started circulating those theories again when they lost the WF race for DSR too.
Like, the claims about this got such traction about DSR that SE had to go out and explicitly clarify in an announcement shortly after 6.11 dropped that such a private server scheme is impossible, because the fight timeline stuff is kept entirely serverside and cannot be datamined.

Anyway, Sindalf trooning out is more or less the least surprising thing I have ever heard about anyone in the XIV community. That dude's been constantly posting about how much of a coombrain he is since the ARR days, it was basically just a matter of time.

I remember when Ishgard Resto happened and Balmung was the first server to actually hit the first milestone and JP also lost their shit about that and started forming gay little groups to ensure that JP never lost again.

And then I think they lost again to Balmung.

Anecdotal, but I do know two actual women who play female Hroths in my FC. As in, I have actually seen them in person (FC met up around Fanfest) and they are definitely not troons. They are however both fatties so take from that what you will.

Ishgard Restoration tarnished my smug sense of superiority now that everyone and their mother can skip all the way up to 80 with zero effort, and the last 20 levels is laughably easy. I mean, it wasn't exactly hard before, but it made it very approachable for people who were intimidated by the idea of having to actually work for something in game.
Going through the ARR crafter quests is fucking ass (which you will need to since the SB quests unlock manipulation).

Sure Anyone can level their crafters to 100 but not everyone has patience to gather timed nodes and the like to gear them.

How do you find a good free company?
When I started playing some random guy invited me and it was my fc for years till I stopped playing and came back to see I was kicked out
I legit don't even know how to join one

Very good question, since the community is incredibly strange (to understate it).

Some of the stories are at least fun, though. I liked culinarian and the whole goings on at the Bismark. Armorer is also pretty neat. Merlwyb pulling out a gun and shooting her own man just to test our armor amuses me.
The level 50 culinarian quest has you make a meal for Nanamo with Lolorito acting as an Eorzean Yelp reviewer. When patch 2.55 came out and concluded the ARR msq there was quite a lot of confusion as to why you could still do the quest after completing the patch story with Nanamo supposedly dead in the msq. I think this could be another reason why sidequest jail exists.
