sooo why is krile being born in another world not treated like a big deal?
Everyone acted shocked once and then just treated like it's normal
Maybe when I meet her parents it will be better but for now it just feels weird
I have a quote that might explain this:

“Who? Oh, right, Krile’s in this story”

Cause we already have a mcguffin back and forth between shards between the First and the source which we've ferried people between I guess, since we already sent that kid who handled the HW triad trials back to the first to stand afk in a defunct raid area despite him being a prodige to the ascians directly.

is there a good video or blog that goes over dawntrail's development and what happened for it to be this bad?
Finally sitting down and playing it I just feel baffled

Only things around would be Kate's and Sena's tweets and bluesky accounts, and Kate got told to fuck off from there. Also Endwalker patches leading up to Dawntrail had all hands on deck for 16, and a Soken interview saying he never wants to make music for two games at the same time ever again. There's also early Dawntrail interviews with Yoshida coping about why people fucking hated Wuk Lamat. There's never going to be a behind the scenes tell-all about what happened in Dawntrail where all the 1s are added up, but it's there a lot on the floor if you want to start digging for it.

soooo living memory is just Elpis?
even down to the separate floating islands
This is kind of a bummer to be honest. I thought this would be a new world but it's just a generic city
Also, Cahciua is not a very good mother.....I feel really bad for Erenville

There's also some interviews where Kate is being incredibly possessive of Wuk Lamat (the "No, you're wrong" comment re: not liking a character), some shit that Koana's VA also spewed out.

What are the interviews you're talking about re: Yoshida not liking Wuk Lamat? The only one I can think of is an interview he did at Gamescom (?) where the interviewer was asking a very leading question intending to get him to go 'transphobia bad' or a similar type quote and he just gave a sort of generic PR response but the retards on Reddit and elsewhere took it as 'Yoshi P condemns death threats against Sena Bryer for being a troon VA'.

But yeah, looking at timelines, things that have been said publicly, knowing that certain members of the team were promoted to new roles, etc. it is pretty easy to infer what was going on behind the scenes.

EDIT: Also, somewhat related, I came across this post from Koana's bloated tick of a VA on LinkedIn:

It is my greatest honor thus far to share with you that I am the voice of Gurfurlur, Hunmu Ruk, Zereel Ja, and yes...Koana, in #ffxiv!

I have more to say below, but to start, THANK YOU #squareenix for what's been THE highlight of my career.

Now, to get unbearably sappy; I would be NOTHING without the trust of others. I've worked hard, trained, and dreamed for a day where I could play a role this well written, and deliciously complex.

The role would have been enough, but to work with these people? Blessed, truly.

I've never worked with anyone who so clearly spoke my language, than Danny Baldwin, and Kate Cwynar. We spent every session stifling laughter, holding back tears, and collaborating on what became uniquely special, and ours. I'll chase that feeling for the rest of my life.

So to the folks who placed their trust in my Side Studios LA, to my wonderful agents Brittney and Erin at CESD, and to all of you who support me everyday, cheer me on from the sidelines, and inspire me to keep improving at my craft, thank you from the bottom of my stupid heart. 🙏🏼♥️

And lastly, to the devoted fans of this series, if you love it even one tenth of the amount that I, or my friend Sena Bryer and the rest of the cast did working on it, it will have been our pleasure to be of service. We hope you love it.

The Danny Baldwin he's referring to is: https://www.dannybaldwin.co.uk/about

Funnily enough, he's worked on a lot of XIV stuff, so the retards mewling about 'the direction was the problem' in an attempt to justify Sena's shit performance don't really have a leg to stand on.

It's a shame Kate privated her LinkedIn because I'd love to go digging through for some of the names mentioned in that post.

The studio for the NA talent was Side Studios LA, who also have a location in London. Interestingly, they only have Dawntrail credited whereas Baldwin has worked on Endwalker, Dawntrail and XIV in general.

Also, it's funny seeing

These two elements are pretty frustrating. I think if they explored the cause for this miracle birth it'd go a long way towards explaining why he has a head full of bad wiring.

The other issue is that we have the exact same scenario with Bakool Ja Ja as a 'chosen one' type and as a result both of their stories overlap with each other, with nothing really interesting coming out beyond parental/societal expectations = bad.
I agree.

According some some throwaway dialogue sprinkled in about his birth, it's stated that 2 headed Mamool Ja are not able to breed in the same capacity as a normal one. Being genetic mutations, it would make sense that they are born somewhat sterile. The chances that a 2 header can sire a child are extremely slim, so it's a miracle that Galool Ja Ja was able to successfully knock someone up. What's more is that his son is also born with a genetic mutation as a result of his father's unique biology, being born with blue scales despite being a Hoobigo. A genetic mutation that Zoraal Ja WOULD THEN proceed to pass along to his own offspring. You have an odd series of unlikely coincidences. I'm also a bit miffed that we get no background information about Zoraal Ja's mother (at least none that I noticed). Who knows what kind of influence she would've had if she were included in the story. Hell, maybe she could've been contributing to her son's declining mental health in some way. Just more lost potential.

The juxtaposition between Bakool Ja Ja and Zoraal Ja was also not explored at all as I would've liked it to be. You have 2 characters with similar origins who end up deviating greatly from one another. We watch them both hit low points but only one of them has the emotional maturity to actually grow up from the experience, and the other stubbornly refuses to accept reality. I would have absolutely loved it if there was a scene between the 2 of them where they confront one another in battle or otherwise, bouncing off of each other about their shared turmoil of being propped up to be "the chosen ones" and how Bakool Ja Ja found another path for himself instead of forcing himself to be inside of a neat little box where his family and society expected him to be something else. Maybe we'd even get a neat little clash where Bakool Ja Ja is able to go toe to toe with Zooral Ja, showing actual growth of his character. It would've been a great way to characterize both of them further. But no, Bakool Ja Ja is relegated to barely seen side character and the 2 never see each other again. It's frustrating.

Sorry, I just feel like you can apply this logic to anything. I think too many people have this mindset that a character is well-written if they're 'relatable' or have 'depth'. Not saying great characters don't have depth, but it's less important than how they're presented.
You're just reinforcing my original point in that what matters is how something is conveyed more than just the little bits of lore we know about a character. I was just pointing out how the terrible writing lobotomizes everyone if they aren't presented properly, yes, that can even include trooncat. Everything I wrote is everything I was able to piece together about his character on my own (which included me having to do some research because the game doesn't flat out tell you all this openly), but he's not presented nearly as well like this throughout the game. Both he and Trooncat would have been far more tolerable if they were given a lot more room to breathe. But because we had this gay B plot with Alexandria, we weren't able to get that because they needed to push everything aside to focus on AI Sphene who is, imo, the most egregious example of terrible writing that this expansion has shat out. Not everyone is going to autistically hyper analyze everything the way I do, so if something isn't presented well, it just fails from the first. And if you're not able to present a character well, no one will care about the character at best, or absolutely despise them at worst.

This is honestly why I was mad they wasted the entireity of EW post-patch shoving in the stupid FFIV references instead, and in the process wasting the Thirteenth, which could have been a expansion of its own,
An expansion there is still techinically on the table. I'm huffing hopium that eventually we can go there and help Zero in earnest.

Also, Cahciua is not a very good mother.....I feel really bad for Erenville
This is a super autistic thing to nitpick but I will never forgive them for the horrible disconnect between the VAs for Cahciua and her son.
Erenville was introduced in Endwalker along with the rest of the male Viera race. He has a VA chosen to go in line with the normal speaking accent of Viera in the game, their Norwegian accents. At the time, everyone thought he was just another male viera who came out into the world from his very remote home. The same sort of lore for any viera in Eorzea.

But then they retconned him to make him fit into DT by saying he was from Tural the entire time. In Tural, all the viera there have 1.) A completely different culture in tural and 2.) all the viera in Tural speak with AMERICAN accents. So where does his wierd Norwegian accent come from? Are we just gonna ignore how Erenville speaks utterly differently from the rest of his kind? They don't even touch on this, they just ignore it hoping that the players don't ask any questions about it. I'm sorry, I'm not gonna ignore that Erenville sounds like a swedish white guy with a heavy accent while his mom sounds like a sassy black woman.
