According to the story I am now a deeply close and personal friend to wuk lamat to the point where even her brother feels jealous,
Can anyone tell me when exactly this happened? so far I just nodded to everything she said and I guess that's friendship

I thought that the capstone quest with the lazy bum who doesn't want to work was refreshing and neat.
Your post is "eau de retiree."

Vagrant couch-surfers don't conjure up multinational armies that you do pitched, epic! battles on a bridge with. It's a shounen plot on the level of Team Rocket as an antagonist, except it doesn't make sense if you think about it for a second. Even in a full Hildibrand line, a bit more work would be put into making the premise believable.

Is there a way to make the core idea work, of a grifter emotionally manipulating a bunch of people with legitimate grievances against the nation-states they hail from? Absolutely, considering that the game already did it with Ilberd.

Tural is a land where everyone is a friend or soon to be your friend. Everyone's so gosh-darned family, all it takes is a couple tacos and some mezcal to get over a centuries-long blood-fued.

I remember playing ARR and hating ishgard and hoping everyone in it dies, but slowly you meet the good people in it, and through heavensword you learn to get along with them by learning about them little by little and fighting the scum in it, and seeing Ishgard become a better place with your own actions to the point where it's now my most beloved country
I miss good writing.....

Guide us, O mighty Fury
Guide us to victory!

man these dt role quests sure are something...
I will admit it got a few chuckles out of me but what the hell were they thinking?
Take these characters out of here and have hildibrand deal with them they're perfect for him as villains, and you know that you don't have to give a shit about sticking to the worldbuilding
I actually found these to be a bright spot in DTs otherwise muddy bullshit, but I also love slapstick and Hildibrand so they were pandering to me to begin with.
