Given that cowboy town is in the northern half, we can reasonably assume it was supposed to have north-american influence -- but with Hiroi at the helm, exploring the idea of conquering the frontier, nature's bounty, conflict between colonial powers and indigenous peoples? Boooooring. He couldn't even do spaghetti western (which is realistically italian) without descending into shounen tropes and telling us about how cool his imaginary girlfriend wuk lamat is.

However, in honor of literally just having missed page 9/11, I hold out hope that the new writing leads (as there is no way Hiroi is still getting his shot again with the fact that it's still hemorrhaging) recognize that Solution 9 is basically just New York City, and it's even a giant tower just begging for desert-cat-people-terrorists from across the seas to fly a plane into. The remaining Ascians realize that there was no need to use the beast-tribes nor the garleans to generate forever-wars: we just needed false-flags and political terrorism. Cue the arrival of our new Scions, a group of Kojima-style American stereotypes where the lead is an obvious homage to Teddy Roosevelt. Get Oda and the Hildibrand guy at the helm and just say 'fuck it, the sub count can't get any lower.'
 
I was initially flattered by the Dawntrail announcement. A high production value RPG set in a hopeful, fantasy version of America (as opposed to something deconstructive or ugly like Fallout). Haven't seen something like that since Sakura Wars V. The capital city having 1940s big band music was also a plus. After the third South American zone Yak T'el, I was excited to go to North America and see some actual USA stuff like pilgrims, Indians, minutemen, gold rush, Constitution hulled ships that can bounce off cannons, state assemblies, aerial superiority, etc. But instead we just got some cowboys with no spin to them, some throwaway catmen indians, and then that was it. And then it was followed up by generic modern cities which didn't feel particularly American either. Amaurot felt more American with the art deco motifs and the congress-esque Convocation of supreme court justice wizards and emphasis on civil duty.
 
Haven't been playing an awful lot these past few days but I noticed far less disconnections than previous weeks. I still believe a lot of the "DDOS attacks" were actually server crashes caused by bugs.
 
Im considering starting a new character and just focusing on getting it to 100 before anything else, and be damned for other classes.

Might need to make me a Marauder so as to maraud and have fun whilst marauding.

WAR is the "No thoughts head empty class" but super fun, at high-levels you essentially wont die and your healer is more of an afterthought.
 
The downside with the latest content not being an absolute snoozefest is you got people like Zepla back making ff14 content, why couldn't she stick with just playing genshin?
 
Nice to know I don't need too many extra macros for the new precrafts. Now the tome grind is a whole different story
 
Another Free 72 hour campaign started, I just got the E-mail. Active till Feb9 72 hours start after your first signin.
Too bad I both don't really have time because I'm playing other shit and actually busy IRL. I returned last free time, but I don't see a reason to return this time. Anything worthwhile MSQ/storywise?

Ehhhh the only thing that came out this patch right now is the MSQ with doomtrain trial and the end of the arcadion raid series. if neither of those things interest you, then yeah, no sense in coming back now even if it is free.

One of the causes of the crashes was due to people summoning retainers (not even kidding there was a hotfix for it too.) DDOS is stil a thing though.
I haven’t even bothered trying to craft the latest gear because the DDOS attacks make it risky with the potential of losing materials if I get kicked off the server. Granted it’s easy to tome farm doing roulettes now. Speaking of DDOS it was horrific on Tuesday (probably because savage came out.) and every party I was in was getting mass kicked off the servers.

Yeah tuesday sucked, couldn't even run roulettes in peace and I haven't been able to join hunt trains all week due to world travel being unavailable, so I had to do my tome farming purely via roulette.
Astounded that even with a dwindling playerbase the servers can't keep up

I maintain that DT was the result of the senior leads having their attention split on two projects (DT and 16) and too much trust being put into the hands of people like Kate and this bozo.

If this is the same guy I'm thinking of, the games he worked on prior to coming to SE are pretty telling (visual novels/dating sims.)
