Is Cosmic Exploration dead content now? I'm just starting out, but I've been completing these mech ops in Phaenna all by my lonesome.

In the past few weeks I've been lucky to see 1-2 other people per hour :( I think its donzo

Decided to push Black Mage to 50. I was very spoiled by having Starry Muse cutting my cast times to under 5 years

Update: Bring Your A Game II, Bring Out Your Dead V, Mastering Magic I, and A Bump on the Log: Thaumaturge all done

Finished Arcadion, honestly my favorite raid series. Got around to do the hildibrand questline, as always is good and something to just relax and watch the dumb shenanigans ensue. Been doing the aether step and it is annoying, but since im playing more casually its an excuse to log in to atkeast do the duty roulettes. Was reminded of why i dont type in the game when i told a SAM to use higanbana, was told that it didnt do damage and would rather do something else, me being the AST of the group decided to abuse my god given power over life and death and let him sit there dead for a few more seconds, needless to say he was annoy by the end and went to report me.

was told that it didnt do damage
As someone who plays SAM a lot (when I'm not tanking) hearing that made me actually cringe. Hinganbana is possibly the strongest DoT in the game. The damage when it's on for the full minute and the lack of damage when it's not is extremely noticeable. That's like a reaper saying he doesn't use Death's Design because it's a waste of a gcd or something.

Mind you i dont tend to give advice unless im intimately familiar with it. SAM is my main dps class, so when i see someone who may be doing something wrong or is doing things that hindef them rather than help them, i always try to give them advice on SAM. Thing that i noticed is that newer players, especially if SAM is one of their first classes, they usually dont do higanbana. One told me that he thought that higanbanas override eachother, as in there cant be 2 at the same time. At the time i told the person he was wrong(dont know if that has been changed since then). Point that im trying to make is that FF14 does a shit job making you familiarize with the class in an intuitive way which makes people look for outside guides and when their favorite [insert youtuber] tells them that higanbana is worthless theyll believe them and foster the bad habit which in turn will get spread around.

for the Starlight event I noticed that they snuck in some Heckin Wholesome Latinxerino representation by using nopal as an ingredient for punch.
Not only is nopal not a great ingredient for a punch drink, having a very grassy, "green beans" taste at best, I'm pretty sure that's a cactus that doesn't even fucking grow in the Sagolii Desert. It's definitely not the kind of cactus that they put on the mug art. They had the audacity to call a saguaro cactus "nopal". I'm fucking mad at this dogshit localization team.

I wasn't even paying attention to notice.
At this point they are just randomly grabbing whatever they think is representative of hispanic culture for everything and just mixing it all together.

Part of me wishes that instead of them doing this hispanic culture thing, they just went balls to the wall, American continent. Going ham on the cheeseburgers and french fries. There were a lot of modern housing items and a dog minion that insinuate that they came from "the new world" I thought the new world would be like the Americas or something. I wasn't expecting the hispanic chimera waiting for me. Honestly I wouldn't mind. They could take the opportunity to take a jab at American culture at every second they can. Or do you think that would be too boring?

Thing is that their perception of "Hispanic culture" is solely based around 2-3 places(Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela) but they forget that theres more than just sombreros, tacos and mariachis. Which is why i dont see the theme as Hispanic, more like South American culture since they didnt add anything from the carribean which still is part of the hispanic culture. Honestly i hope they dont try shit like this and just pick some random fantasy theme or whatever and stick with it rather than try to emulate real life culture.

Personally I'm already sick to death of the whole ultra modern, cyberpunk shit they got going on. S9 has already become such an eyesore to me and the relentless onslaught of modernwear to the shop has just left a bad taste in my mouth.
I'm desperately begging for a return to traditional fantasy. I don't want half baked cultures or settings based off of reality. I play games to escape it. I want to see some real fantastical shit. The kind of shit you used to see in classic JRPGs like Skies Of Arcadia, Ar Tonelico, Breath of Fire 4, Saga Frontier 2, Legend of Mana, etc etc.

The Heavensward and Stormblood areas remain quite kino imo. Fantastical and true to XIV's setting.

Would be cool to see a setting based on nordic mythology maybe have something akin to Valkyries. Maybe ill get a crossover with Valkyrie Profile.

The novelty wore off extremely fast. Part of me has a crazy theory that did this expac as a way to canonically shove in the modern and cyber glamours so that people can have them without modding the game.

Hard agree. They clearly had a boner for Cyberpunk style and FF has always flirted heavily with Magitek so they felt they could run with it.

ShB also had great fantasy zones and outside of Thavanair EW did too like Elpis, Labyinthos being a giant artificial zoo, etc. Even Ultima Thule and the moon zone were a nice mix of scifi while still retaining a fantasy feel unlike the S9 zones where every thing is just way over the top with the modern stuff and scifi.

Not too uncommon among the mainstream, traditional shit that was sperged about in the 50s like Mariachis (the three caballeros for example) is passé and stereotypical, but people don't give a shit about South America so its new and unique for uncultured retards.

like magitek stuff is nothing new, but prior to this shit, at least most of it was like
grounded in the setting, I guess
the Garleans were the magitek faction but their stuff actually felt and looked appropriately fantastical, etc

meanwhile this S9 business is just all generic neon-lighted cyberslop

my conspiracy theory for this, and also like half the newer stuff in the cash shop just being modernwear, is that they are actually just trying to circle around people using mods to get these clothes
