doing a rerun of the new raids with friends, Everything Burns does have that ear worm quality, but god it's the most wigger shit I've ever heard. Even Koji-Fox singing Moebus with the Primals didn't sound this bad. Zero Sugar Brittney Spears, Blink 182 and Judas Priest was so much better, actually sounded like it belong (I know it was a guest song but still.)

and speaking of M9, came across a screencap of a unicorn; a forum post that isn't 100% retarded and actually makes a somewhat decent point.

Decided, fuck it, I'll just get the Scrip gear and miss the extra melding slots(my luck is dogshit anyways so it's not a major loss) Got my Gatherer clothes, Leatherworker's tools, and Goldsmith's tools. Guess it's back to the collectible mines for the rest

The game is rated 16 and above, not P13 (for what little it matters) but having a prominent song constantly alluding to BDSM sex in a Final Fantasy game, one 16-year olds can play, is still disturbing. How much do you want to bet Kate and her ilk pushed it into the game as a form of 'kink representation'?

Only rated for 16 in North America. Japan is 15, Europe is 13. To protect everyone, lowest number is enforced, so it's 13. (which is what the original forum complaint is talking about when they got dinged by a GM using profanity in a public space)

So yes actually, a 13 year old can listen to a BDSM sex song.

I was so disgusted at hearing trooncat's voice again that I ended up skipping that cutscene and the one after it. Very strange to recast G'raha but not Wuk Lamat, but I imagine Sena signed a contract that was supposed to last until 7.4. Regardless, I do hope this is genuinely the last I'll ever see of Wuk and Sena Bryer remains broke and unemployed for the rest of his days.

Haven't done the raid yet. ESRB ratings aside, holy shit are those lyrics cringe. So nice to see the game leaning into its reputation as the ERP sex pest MMO. I hate BDSMtroons.
 
I liked the msq this patch.
Can't believe I'm saying that.
Trial fight was great.
Spent a little too much time fucking around with glamors.
So far so good.

What they got out of all the Eorzean Alliance member city-states having flaws that can't change in a day is that this is BAD and everything should be wrapped up by the time each zone's MSQ storyline is over.

I wish they had stuck their guns on killing Brute Bomber though. This is a me thing but I thought the story-telling in M7 was really strong, and it did a great job at being fun while shining a spotlight on the cultural flaws of Solution Nine/The Arcadion; a fighter having a psychotic break (with the lyrics clearly alluding to him intentionally committing to a murder/suicide against us) all while the management keeps the cameras rolling and even bleeps out swearwords to keep his death family friendly. It feels like they keep coming close to showing genuinely dark themes in Solution Nine and then pussying out at the last minute so they can keep it PG-12 Cyberpunk aesthetic.
And yeah, Gunbreaker now feels the same as Paladin with a slightly quicker invuln. FML.

Yeah I can buy the heart of the cancer dragon saving all the other fighters but Brute Bomber coming back and pulling a Goku EVERYONE LEND ME YOUR ENERGY made me burst out laughing at how absurd it was. Also I call bull that he was given weaker souls so he wouldn't die, i had so much trouble with M7S.
Also while I liked the M9 song hearing it ingame holy fuck the actual lyrics have that cringey "trying way too hard to be hardcore and sexy" quality that some Vtuber music has.

I heard he's hurt either his throat or his tongue being in wicked, and he did those recordings literally on the road. Him refusing to talk about it so all we can do is speculate till 7.55 credits come out.
 
7.4 MSQ was meh. Long and boring.

Krile had fake drama out of nowhere. Also lol at the Lalafells calling Treno their home (when they live in refugee huts and weren't rich enough to get into Alexandria like the other human citizens of Treno) and refusing an offer to return to their island paradise on the Source.

Calyx is back. Can't villains stay dead? Now he's a ridiculous squirrel, and a minder for an airhead nerd girl Ascian. Weird to follow up Sphene with another cute girl villain. Well, the ditzy villain is something new but after 5 years of bad story I am not giving CBU3 the benefit of the doubt. Also, I thought we were supposed to have been finally free of this dead horse Hydaelyn/Ascian stuff.


No stakes in the Arcadion storyline. They walked back Brute Bomber's death and turned it into a direct to VHS Disney movie.

That's it. That's the story content for the next 4.5 months.
 
Terror Thomas Extreme beaten. The doomtrain experience gives me Steps of Faith (original) vibes where it feels more like a set piece than just a fight.

We never actually killed Calyx though? We very clearly see him escape at the end of 7.3. There was nothing indicating we killed him.

well, the point was to stop him, clearly they want him to be a bigger deal later, and its hard to say if you can kill someone that's just Data, no Aether to him at all.
 
Every once in a while, they'll do something later in an expansion that makes me think they'll add something related to it in the next one. Like Fran showing up in Stormblood being a sign of them working on Viera for Shadowbringers, or the Manderville weapons looking like something straight out of Solution 9. So, my baseless prediction, based on the character we saw at the end of 7.4, is that they're going to expand somewhat on the character creation options.

It’s pretty obvious the writers were planning for Calyx to stick around beyond DT. It would have been weird for them to make a huge deal out of the kid and build him up so much if they were just going to unceremoniously dumpster him after two patches.

When I saw the end of the cutscene very heavily imply he just barely might've made it I knew he'd be back. His stupid ass showing up in a plushy was funny and deeply deserved. He took himself so excessively serious and now he's the plush toy of some autistic green horned "auri" girl.

I actually liked Treno and the story with the Lalafell or whatever the hell they call them. Finding out that more people on that shard of the universe survived even without Alexandria just made their selfish actions seem even worse. They left everyone else to suffer and scrape. Then other cities pulled through with way less to their name, without trying to consume their own people's aether, and without attacking other dimensions.

To me it was enjoyable though the pacing of the dungeon into a pause into trial was the usual rote. Solidly "okay" which is a serious upgrade from the sonorous wet fart of the rest of DT so far.
