I mean they're even pulling out the gooner glams again, they're now selling that one reaper doll glam from that post EW dungeon boss, the new variant dungeon glam is actually gender-specific (they stopped listening to troons on the forums demanding glams be gender neutral finally) and the female version is very sexualized (they haven't had fuck all sexualized female glams in years, it's either gender neutral or masculine looking even on female characters, with barely any skin showing if at all). The new MSQ is even bringing back Sphene but not Wuk Lamat (unless they're hiding her from the recent promotional screenshots, but I doubt that).

You know subs aren't looking good when they start trying to appeal to the straight male audience again. Next thing you know they're gonna finally add Scion dating, that's when you know shit's REALLY fucked, when the subs are in total freefall. That's the final trumpcard.

Edit: speaking of that variant glam......

never stops being funny there's always that one cunt that pops up outta nowhere and gotta be a massive faggot about any design that isn't modern slop.

FFXIV players screaming about glams being offensive just another day that ends in Y.

Honestly I don't mind glamour no longer having class restrictions, 99% of players were already running around in meme outfits and casual outfits, and there were a few items I was disappointed were not available for certain jobs

I'm more concerned that this is a sign they've given up on what little job identity remains in the game. It's boring to not have meaningful distinctions between jobs, both visually and mechanically.

I'm pretty much part of the boat that doesn't really care, the seasonal gear already felt like they were frog boiling making more martial sets universal and the precense of modern and casual slop had already diluted the job identity, the one bonus i can see if I ever return is that having literally every item available is going to be a boon for getting just the right piece of tat in class-friendly looking sets

But that's if I can ask myself to return if 8.0 isn't a total dud

On the topic of the glamour changes... torn. I agree with those who lament the death of class identity, but on the other as someone who enjoys glams being able to use the occasional piece here and there from other jobs/roles is gonna be awesome.

I won't ever go to the extreme of their example "DRK in WHM robes" because as a long time FF fag I love and respect the classic outfits or anything close to them. And given the playerbase, I don't think we'll see shit like that often because the meme of a job dressed as another will come and go within a few weeks tops. They'll still just go for the sluttiest gear and dress half-naked with 2B Leggings.

And if I'm being 100% honest with myself, 95% of my glams will remain the same regardless of this change.

In other news, Doomtrain trial makes me smile.

I swear to God since the Nier raid came out I don't think those leggings have been unglammed from the asses of at least a third of the playerbase. It's the XIV equivalent of lazy yoga leggings.

Even better I've seen people get angry when you point out how overused it is. Don't look at me I didn't vote on making it every miqo'te girl's uniform.

Going to be honest at this point I don’t give a fuck what this game is doing any more or what panic buttons they’re pressing or not pressing. I can only handle caring so much before I wear down. Both the doomerism and the toxic positivity have reached critical mass. Even long time friends of mine who used to be rational are either extremely doomerism or extremely toxic positive and both factions will explode if you even think the opposite side has some good points. I’ve lost a lot of people to this tribalistic behavior. I’m just going to pretend the game’s story ended in base Endwalker and not acknowledge anything afterward unless they pull a miracle off for 8.0.

After giving it a few attempts this weekend: Quantum is weird... What were they thinking? Didn't they say it scales gently from min offerings being easier and max offerings being very hard? I expected that to mean that it would influence the mechanics, but min offerings throws so much shit at the group already, I swear that is early savage floor difficulty.

And 40 offerings is a joke. The tank has to constantly have a potion rolling to help the healer keep up, which means during prog, the poor sod needs to constantly pop those, meaning the tank player needs to farm those. What a bewildering system in a game that usually goes out of its way to make access to the content very smooth.

Who is this for?

The hell is going on in this thread?

Anyways, I’m growing quite fatigued at retards announcing “WE ARE SO FUCKING BACK” after every live letter. It’s a wonder this game has a player retention issue when the core fanbase is this easy to please.

I don’t think lifting all glamour restrictions is really a good thing, and I say that as a total glam snob. This game is already rapidly becoming an aesthetic dumpster fire, now it's going to be even worse. And like other posters said, I fear this really may be the final nail in the coffin for job identity and I fully expect them to start phoning in gear design, which is a problem DT has already been struggling with. We'll never get sets as kino as Deepshadow ever again.

Also, it's going to be extremely annoying having to look through every single piece in existence to find the perfect pair of gloves or whatever, but that's a personal problem. I feel like glam restrictions ironically forced you to get more creative.
Yeah I remember had to really bust my ass and search gear wkis to glam up my character appropriately but it was rewarding when I finally found everything.

I feel bad for the guys that put a shit ton of website effort into detailing what pieces of gear are available per class and per event

It's for Mr. Ozma's streamer friend Arthars, who he designs all the endgame content exclusively for 😃

You know I think they've forgotten that final fantasy fans are typically the silent majority.

I think the thing that might get me back in 14 are the ascians. What's the lore so far on that? Also is Gaia still in the 1st or did she mysteriously disappear after her announcement in Dissida? I'm kinda hyped for that.

Well, you got good news on that front.
Calyx is part of a cabal called "The Winterers" that has an Ascian in it and is implied he oversees it. (most likely Pashtarot, though it could be either Altima or Deudalaphon cause Gaius didn't do a true kill on either of them.)

Sweet. They did say in interviews they weren't all gone. Wonder if they'll go into detail on the origin of the Ascians power and such. This may be impossible but one thing I hope they never do is definitely state the WOL is an Ascian. I rather like my head canon that they were from parts unknown and "retired" to live with the Ascians.

Were the ascian twins that briefly haunted the Manson the ones Gaius took on? I remember them being a big loose end but I don't remember Pash

I genuinely don’t understand all the people that are surprise Pikachu facing over the Ascians coming back. Especially from the ones claiming it’s a panic button being pressed because of DT’s reception. We were told to remember their names to prepare for DT, there are multiple still unaccounted for, and DT itself is as subtle as a sledgehammer with implying that Ascians were involved with the 9th. They’ve also been a pretty major part of this game’s story since 2.0 (and even as far back as 1.0) so I find a hard time believing they would just drop that plot thread and dumpster them. I get that there are people who are tired of them (and that’s valid) but thinking they’d never come back is very naive.

The... resolved plot thread? Zodiark is deadzo, and Fandaniel already explored "crazy nihilism guy." Sure, that more existed suggested they could show up as side-characters or potentially offer a spin, where they become allies of the protagonists. The shock is that this company is now so lazy, so bereft of ideas, so totally unable to cook up anything interesting narratively... that we are already back to a suite of antagonists whose arc was meaningfully concluded.

It is a blinking, buzzing sign telling the audience: "don't hold your breath. There's nothing new and interesting to be found here." Now of course, it's not impossible that something interesting sparks out of the rehashed premise. 'War with Garlemald' on the back of Stormblood turned out to be an enormous bait-and-switch. But that was back when the team seemed to actually care about their game.

The thing is with Zodiark and the Unsundered ascians dead there is still room for the remaining to have their own goals and agendas just like Fandaniel did once the leash came off after Elidibus died.
