i'm enjoying PT so far, although i am sad that it seems we will not have a return to heavy auto-attacks and the importance of kiting. i've gotten so far to the 71 boss and seen two of it's mechanics before my matched parties wipe.

also the athena shit with the gay vtuber avatar seems really grifty. cannot say i am a fan.

While I immensely enjoy the first 30 floors, 31-40 felt like it was starting to become EO 2 with how much bullshit adds were starting to inflict on our matched party and the 40th floor boss doing the "AoE markers only appears at the last second" bit is very annoying, considering it doesn't even give you a couple to learn the pattern for.

Trooncer got banned on X, now rebranded himself as some male vtuber with a scottish accent.
The Scottish accent is his real voice too and he sounds like a sassy gay guy.
Anyways I enjoyed what little I got to do of PT and began catching up on old shit like Hildibrand and mount farming.

We made it to floor 80 of PT and I'm having fun so far. Unlike what happened with OC where they couldn't stick the landing I think they did a good job of combining the best of Deep Dungeon stuff while adding new mechanics. I like the candles giving you either buffs or debuffs next floor and the incense being a mix of HOH's magicite full floor wipes and EO's demiclone effects. Making it more accessible hopefully solves Eureka Orthos' problem where it felt dead on arrival to casual players or people who wanna just grind aetherpool. It was kind of sad to revisit Shadowbringers locations and music though, it's like the game was reminding you when it was good.

2 FC mate and I finished PT last night. I thought it was pretty good, although sometimes line aoes clipped through walls and instapopped half the group. IMO the 80 boss the harest, but that's mostly because I can never remember the ins and outs, 90 on the other hand is pretty easy. 99 boss has quite a few mechanics but after seeing it once or twice it's manageable. They also added an option where you can practice that boss once you unlocked it which is pretty nice. The accessories you can get from the reward tomes look really good, but naturally because SE has to fuck everything up, they're not dyable. Didn't have a chance to try out the quantum version because it requires a fix light party, according to the wiki its supposed to be a mini ultimate when you crank it up to max difficulty and as someone who hasn't done any ults yet I am curious how it'll look.

The gender specials have taken control of the German translation (at least it's the first time I noticed). For context, the traditional gender neutral way to refer to everyone is the same as the male form (here: "Abenteurer"), the "(w/m/d)" means "female/male/other" to make sure that the specials feel addressed.

First Live Letter for 7.4 has been announced, on the 31st.

With the usual 6.5 week gap between LL and patch, this should mean patch date is gonna be the 16th of December, and the Savage unlock is on the 23rd. Godspeed to the W1 sweats in their struggle between holidays and raiding, lmao.

It seems like if they were really assed about gendered nouns, they would just base "Abenteurer" or "Abenteuerin" on the player's gender.
This seems like a really obtuse way to get that super-special-awesome othergender in there.
December, and the Savage unlock is on the 23rd.
Well, they did say they wouldn't repeat Cloud of Darkness Chaotic again. Since that one opened on the 24th, they've very technically kept their word.

Knowing trash dies without taking 15 minutes on floor 2 is good.
This is nice but when you get to about floor 50, the mobs basically become sponges again and yes, mobs still have their incredibly cheap 1 shot attacks that instant kill you if you aren't a tank even with 99 aetherpool. Candles no longer always give you beneficial effects each time too with them sometimes hindering you even further next floor or spawning gloom.

I know they probably made it that way to stop people from just bum rushing through the floors but it's still a pain in the ass. This is supposed to be content for casual people. You need to have some form of retard proofing, especially if you're with randoms and you have that one fucking idiot who rushes in to pull things without knowing anything about it's attacks and then getting everyone killed.

That is generally how Deep Dungeons have operated, with EO being the odd duck out of the now 4 Deep Dungeons with early floor trash being a chore.

Keep in mind:

- We're 2 weeks into release. Part of the retard proofing will come from addons being updated to guardrail the honest and genuine speds, plus information and guides being tossed around to help folks.
- There are in-game countermeasures already, with you being able to queue basically all the floor sets up to 70, and the floor 99 boss' practice mode being unlocked simply by getting to the boss

I was able to power through the upper floors no problems even with some mistakes being made (misjudging AE size, miscommunications, etc.) Give it some time so folks know what mobs do and it should(?) be fine.

This is arguably one of the easiest DDs so far -- we're already getting people clearing it with no job stones, getting like 3h speed runs ,etc. going with it. Outside of basically turning PT into another Trial that gives loot, I dunno what more they could be doing to make shit more accessible. Mobs die rapidly if everyone is focusing them down in a group, and they aren't terrible solo.

It is the easiest DD by far, I've soloed all of them and this one was done first try without complications. I feel like they tried to balance the DD for all jobs to perform equally.

Palace and Heaven very much favored tanks, the high auto damage is a lot to deal with for anyone who isn't a tank, or playing a job that can't kite mobs.
Eureka Orthos felt like a response to that and flipped the script, High Autos were gone and everything was a mob with a mechanic that oneshot anyone including tanks. It was Pretty terrible for tanks and Healers due to the bloated HP values, Selfish DPS reigned king.

Pilgrim's Traverse feels like it tried to account for that too, so not only are the mobs HP significantly lower than EO, they kept the mechanic oneshots focus. Eureka Orthos was already considered easier than what came before it because once you get over the initial hurdle of learning all the mob's attack patterns the difficulty just flatlines around floor 70.

So Pilgrim's is Eureka Orthos with less health, no Amnesia and No Blindness. The mobs themselves have a lot less varied mechanics and do primarily line/cone aoes. This feels like a direct response to how hard Forked Tower flopped, I think they want non raid content to be easier for wider appeal.

Love how all the current step relics look , best relic step in a a long time. Also, what is the best job to solo Palace of The Dead.: I've read its between Machinist, Red Mage and Warrior but which ones do you guys think is overall the best?

Machinist, it can kite, interrupt and has damage. Red Mage is good too but lacks damage and has no interrupt for those pesky mimics, but you can heal yourself, Warrior even worse but has a stun and interrupt and you may have to resort to using traps to kill enemies.

Yeah and a majority of the mobs are stunnable this time. The most dangerous enemy I think is that purple lion that can cast deadly aoe's out of combat and being able to cast a huge line aoe that can't be LoS'd

I don't expect 7.4 to be anything amazing unless they announce dungeons with quantum difficulty or something. Gonna be another dud like 7.1.
Historically, X.4 is when they start showcasing their direction for the new xpac, yeah?

Should be interesting to see whether they're course-correcting or not.

Unless we do some asspull with another reflection, all that's left is Blindfrost and Meracydia. Honestly wishing for Blindfrost, as they don't have much lore surrounding that land and Meracydia feels like it'll be wrapped into the new void storyline with Zero/Golbez.

I suspect the "treasure islands of Blindfrost" will probably be a variant dungeon storyline, similarly to Aloalo getting into the "forgotten peoples of the South Sea Isles". I doubt it will get a full expansion story, mostly because I suspect they consider the book pretty much closed on Garlemald, and any Ilsabard stuff inevitably goes back there.

Meracydia is what I consider the most likely contender for the next one, but I will admit I have also been expecting that one since the whole deal with Tiamat back in 5.5.
