There’s really not much to talk about at the moment outside of laughing at mentally unhinged people who fuck up spectacularly at grasping even the most basic story concepts. DT really needs to get its shit together. If they’re going to fuck the story up at least compensate with giving us enough content to chew on. I know there’s very little chance of that happening but at this point the devs need to do it or else even the DT dickriders who worship the story will abandon them. The problem is there aren’t really any mmorpgs out there to provide a good alternative that offers the same experience but better to my knowledge.

Base 2.0 would not age well, a lot of jank due to changing so much from 1.0. There were no roulettes and your only way of getting tomes was speed running prae/castrum and the two endgame dungeons. That was dreadful. Cross class skills sucked (you were extremely limited in which ones you could pick and you had to level grind the jobs to get them.) and the ability to assign bonus attribute points was just an illusion of choice because everyone dumped all their points in the main stat of their class. Also the only major raid was Coils and there was no normal or savage mode, just end game.

Im surprised they havent done a "FF14 Classic" where is just the base game, like what they did with WoW
There were actual clips of people asking about "classic" which was 1.0 or just ARR launch. Yoshi P just put his head in his hands in disbelief. I don't suspect they'll do it. Nor do I feel any desire to go back to it. You can sync all the older dungeons and other content until you're blue in the face. Sure there might be different abilities but I don't think its too huge.

Nice. Glad they're finally putting that in. Wondering how much they'll support it post its initial launch as Blizz has a habit of trying something out then utterly binning it after that. Would be actually interested if they open up some of the other races than Human and Orc for designs.

My brother in Christ. They have already turned on them. Search Google for "ff14 dawntrail sucks" and you'll get the still ongoing thread on the forums of people realizing how bad it is

Do you actually like the homogenization? I liked cross clas skills and requiring you to level other jobs to get a certian skill. The game had identity back then. It doesn't anymore.

The game is too accessible as many games are now.

I don't like the homogenization of many of the classes, tanks especially. However I consider things like needing to cross-class level far less to do with variety. It was a requirement to level certain classes to have what many considered core options for your class. I felt the change in Stormblood so it was universally available was a good idea.

Those that knew what they were doing would instantly be able to use these important skills where they applied in an encounter rather than leveling to get access to them. Needing to cross-class level was a holdover from FFXI which I didn't think was a positive. It didn't trouble me majorly but that's because I actually enjoy leveling up classes. That's a less common sentiment than you'd think.

I really have never viewed FFXIV as a hardcore experience with the exception of the very highest end content and its never been focused upon that. Even its earliest incarnation wasn't a hardcore raid focused game. It is for sure easier than ever to jump in. I'd rather they bring back more complex class options but I don't think HW era was the crown jewel of excellence. It was enjoyable enough but it had its flaws.

Square/Yoshi would never do a 14 Classic, be that Legacy or ARR. Former would never allow funds to be spent on such a retarded endeavor, and the latter has frequently stated those days were not worth ever revisiting.

And I don't think they'd really benefit from a "Classic" mode. I think they'd get a lot more out of a true rethink of progression and rebalancing of rewards going all the way back to ARR. Feels like most of the issues now is that as time goes on, they've added new means of progression, abandoning older ones until there's virtually no reason to do them outside achievement hunting (and even that is a system that is covered in dust and cobwebs).

On top of that, they've dumbed down their gearing system (or perhaps it was always this stupid) to the point that there is no thought behind gearing outside "highest iLevel wins", and they lock that shit behind weekly limits like it's a fucking F2P mobile game.

tl;dr if they bothered to just rework all rewards for all existing systems and avenues, they could revive ancient content and give players from casual to sweats more to do. But this would require *shock, gasp* fucking effort that Yoshi's team is either incapable or unwilling to do.

  • You can enable gimbals (little 3d controls on objects) which will let you move objects on all three axis, including floating them up into the air without having to jump through hoops.
  • A different gimbal can be used to rotate an object freely on ANY axis as well.
Oh nice, just like with Burning Down The House.
  • Finally, a third gimbal can scale an object’s size up and down (within some generous limits), making something smaller or giant.
X-XIVbros???
  • While we’re not really talking about exteriors in this article, it’s worth mentioning that the outside size of your house has no bearing on how big the interior is. If you want a huge mansion outside with just one room inside or a tiny shack on the outside but a dozen rooms inside, you do you.
It's over...

Halloween events sound they would be FUCKING AWESOME if this ends up working properly. Think of the mazes

We already have FFXIV's version of WOW Classic. It's called FFXI.
There's private servers that are running Seekers of Aldouin era FF11 that actually have tons of people playing, which blows my mind as someone that played that game for almost a decade. I took FF14 2.0 over that game and never looked back.

Courtesy of redditors, Black Mage has finally been lobotomised:
We do know some job changes:
Astral Fire & Umbral Ice timer gone

Firestarter & Thunderhead timer gone Flarestar, Fire IV, Blizzard IV, Blizzard I: 2s cast, 2.5 recast

Umbral Ice Paradox does not grant umbral ice stacks (can't make you go from UI1 -> UI2 anymore for recovery)

leylines 20 second duration

Foul potency gain on 2 target (25% falloff)

Overall potency adjustments to be seen, but F4/B4 is at 300 potency. Flarestar 500 potency. Xeno 890 potency, Foul 600 Potency. F3/B3 290 Potency

Was talking about this a couple nights ago and explaining what I think the issues with balance is.

It's like they don't want anyone to ever have a bad time doing anything at any point. So they simplify every job such that a single-celled organism could play it, they extend duty support to optional dungeons because "well what if a person doesn't want to play with others in an MMO", and they give all tanks an insane amount of self-healing because they don't want the tank to ever have a bad time if, for example, they get party-matched with a bad healer and they need to single-pull packs.

We'll also see if the DPS buffs ends up being good or bad. My fear is that they're just buffing them because they designed a mechanic where melees had to drop 2 GCDs in an unoptimised strat and immediately went "fuck, okay, let's buff the shit out of them".
