What about healers who rescue you into a bigger pull? I've had that a couple times and I never know how to react. It's the mix of helplessness, discomfort and role-reversal that you probably feel when your wife of 20 years tells you she wants to be "the man" in bed.

In other healer shenanigans I've had several conversations in PFs the past week of healers arguing over who gets to be H1 or H2. "I only know the one position," "it's bad practice because I play h2 in my static," "don't blame me if we die, I'm being made to play a different spot". I understand if people screw up a few times because of muscle memory, but throwing a shitfit over having to flip a few movements when you're already playing the easiest role just because you can't learn the mechanics properly and adjust is pathetic.
Honestly I'd have less disdain if they admitted they were using a plugin to automate movement and didn't feel like changing the script.
What the fuck is H1 and 2? Is this some new shit healer mains made up to feel more important?

It's literally just "are you group 1 or group 2." People usually designate if they're h1, m1, r1, etc. in the same way tanks call MT and OT. In theory it makes sense for sorting out light party or partner stacks, and it helps establish positions for spreads. I had assumed they were pretty universal for hard content as it's been handled that way in just about every PF or static I've been in, but maybe it's just Hector guide brainrot taking over.

Remember when strats just grouped mt/ot together with healers and the other group as just DPS.
Simpler times man…

Pre-designated positioning for mechanics.

Oh, I figured it meant something else (if they're arguing over which one they are it must be more important right?). I know the feeling of being more comfortable with one light party vs the other but actually arguing over getting your preference is fucking nuts lmao

EX Trial/Savage/Ultimate Raid shit.
It's either M(ain)T(ank)/O(ff)T/H(ealer)1/H2/M(elee)1/M2/R(anged)1/R2 or MT/S(ub)T/H1/H2/D(PS)1/D2/D3/D4, depending on if it's EU/NA or JP/OCE.

People have always done this. It's what causes drama (or at least retard boots) most of the time in statics and PFs. There will usually always be at least one nigger who whines about "I DID THINGS ONE WAY, I CAN'T ADJUST, DO MY STRATS".

To be fair I have seen healers that use H1 and H2 practically as a way to avoid double-ressing a single person, ie. if there's more than one person KO'd then H1 always revives the topmost person on the party list and H2 targets the bottom-most player. But that's the kind of discussion that happens in an actual static with pre-assigned positions already, not a PF where people are slapfighting over who gets to go lefty or righty.

I don't have any idea how common this is, but it's a hell of a lot rarer than you think it is.
Over 25% of the people in high-end content are automating their rotations, but that hardly reflects on movement automation due to the complexity of each fight. In addition, everyone who would be doing this in the first place either created the script themselves which is at least partially respectable, since MMOMinion doesn't have a bundle for automated movement in EX/Savage/Ultimates, and when it comes to Dalamud's Boss Mod, the only piece of high-end content that can be done fully AFK with its AI handling the movement is FRU of all things. (TEA may also be possible full-AFK. I cannot confirm this statement.)

In fact, I've only heard of this happening twice.
One when a JP speedkill STATIC were banned from FFLogs for doing this, and by some fuck in some discord saying that this was possible due to using a botnet with Argus (MMOMinion's version of Splatoon/Cactbot) or some dumb crap without elaborating in the slightest.

That makes sense, at least in a static with more organization.

I've been in a lot of statics and never heard of people arguing over light party 1 or 2, must be a PF thing

This doesn't include totems that I already traded in for weapons obviously. Cope and seethe.

I've heard I don't know how many stories over the years and in various places about both statics and PFs where people bitch about demanding strats because they can't adjust and stirring shit because of it.

Maybe I just got lucky. I've seen videos of people complaining like that, never seen it myself tho

Oh my God, I can't tell you how many times I've had to sit through farm parties where I got people who just absolutely refuse to do anything other than the one thing they know how to do because putting 2 neurons together to learn something else is too much work for them. Shit drives me up the fucking wall. I always end up being the flexible one because I bother to learn everything about a fight so I can do it comfortably as any role.

I also try being the flexible one although sometimes I revenrt into my retard "do what I'm used to" mode and do mechanics the way I'm used ot :story:
it's not often but the one time I remember is farming Sphene Ex and as a tank I went to the wrong platform in the ice phase for TBs. Thamkfuilly I moved early enough for my co-tank to see what I did and adjusted, but it was embarassing none the less. I don't think I could ever be so arrogant that I'd DEMAND I;m in one light party or another, though.
@Tari the reason I didn't realize what H1/2 meant right awya is I am slightly drunk, I thought they wer etrying to cop tnak's MT/OT thing for some reason.

That's fair.

Honestly we wouldn't even have H1/H2 as the distinguisher if SE had decided to make shield/pure healer a proper distinction earlier, we'd have PH/SH instead.

The Little Ladies' Day art for 2025 was changed from this-

If you aren't autistic about the story, especially ARR's story, you might be wondering the significance of this.
That black crystal necklace is worn by Thancred while he's possessed by Lahabrea, during the level 21-(end of 2.0) section of ARR. The artists just thought "Well, we can't put anything past 2.0 in these events because everyone hated having to go through post-ARR to get to the Heavensward Jobs, what did Thancred look like in ARR again?" and forgot about that big plot point.

TL;DR: Even the artists are getting lazy and don't care about the plot anymore.

Tbh, usually pure healer is H1 and shield healer is H2. At least here on Light during the most recent ultimates. It's mostly just down to convention more than anything, though it could potentially be a valuable distinction if future mechanics ever put you in a position where you want to position shield healer center to catch people center before a raidwide.

But yeah, problem is that double-shield is honestly too good in a lotta fights. Admittedly, I prefer shield/regen comps for FRU right now (double-shield means I gotta redo my whole mit plan) but double-shield pretty much always ends up being better. Anything below ultimate doesn't need a mit plan tho so it ends up being pretty strong once you know the fight.
I used to be proud of having ult clears but then started seeing everyone and their xister in Limsa standing around with the weapons/titles (and yea like you said, legends floor tanking normal raids :story:) Still want to clear those ults I haven't yet, though...
Tbf, there's still pride to be had in TOP/DSR clears specifically. Those fights don't fuck around. I was progging TOP pre-DT and started simming Run Dynamis Delta. I unironically think that might be the hardest mechanic in the game purely down to the amount of adjusts and positions involved. There's like six different final positions depending on which tether you get, whether you had to adjust, and whether you got Hello Near/Distant World or neither.

I've also cleared DSR and I still feel pride in that clear. Purely cause of how much of a fucking slog that fight is. Phase 6 is an absolute menace. No single mechanic in that phase is insanely complex, but it's so late into the fight and you can wipe extremely easily to hand-of-pain HP mechs, bad positioning triggering a cascade of wipes, Wroth Flames having some pretty tricky healing (and it being very easy to stay in a puddle to long and get a DoT), and probably most cruel is the two unique enrage conditions in that fight (if Hraesvelgr kills any party member, Hraesvelgr enrages. If you let the Mortal Vow bleed fall off without being passed between players properly, Nidhogg enrages).
Mistakes in ults can be salvageable, and when you get to the point where savages are boring ults are the next logical step.
Progging FRU rn, and it really depends on when the mistake occurred, how much excess DPS you got, and how much people understand the mechanics. I'm a healer for example, and I know that when I res someone, they will be ressed onto where I stand when I casted the res. So if there's a mech where we need to do towers, I can res a DPS into my current tower and then run to their tower. If they res in time, they take my tower and I take theirs, preventing a wipe.

Another one is that during a mechnic in P1, we have two stacks that must be taken as light-parties or they give 90% damage downs. One of the ways my static handles this is to position the stacks so that they are close enough to overlap like a venn diagram. If someone dies during the mechanic beforehand, the tank can stand between the two stacks, this will cause them to die but will prevent a wipe. It also means if anyone takes a damage-down in the mechanic beforehand, they can also stand between the stacks as a way to kill themselves (FRU has the nasty 90% damage-downs they introduced in TOP alongside the 90% DD for understacking certain mechanics, so letting a DD stay on will basically always cause an enrage, whereas a death has a chance to not cause one if you execute it at a good time and have that excess damage).

Yea I get that. I don't remember what the phase number is but I've progged to dual dragons in DSR before the static fell apart. I definitely want to go back and clear if only to prove to myself that I wasn't the issue lol. But the chances of finding a group for that seems to be dwindling more and more.

Progging FRU rn, and it really depends on when the mistake occurred, how much excess DPS you got, and how much people understand the mechanics.
Yea it's not guaranteed that any mistake is recoverable, there are a lot of (probably most) mechanics that will simply wipe the pull if not done right. And I definitely remember people with DD in DSR walling to have res weakness instead lol. But under the right conditions it definitely is possible to recover from a death.

BTW, since you seem to be one of the few kiwis here doing ults, how did you find your group? I found a mid-core savage static pretty easily but that static attempted progging DSR and it was a disastrophe (not the same group I got to dual dragons with). I've forgotten how I found my old hardcore static and I'm at a loss on how to do it again :story:
