Tbh the fact you're doing anything to figure out your class already puts you in the upper half of players. FF14's status as the "story MMO" brings a lot of people in who just can't play the game and don't want to learn.

Some of my IRL mates are like that. Of my mate's girlfriend plays Scholar and whenever there's new content, I end up healing the group in alliance raids with her and carrying all of the healing cause she likes to let the fairy do everything and is constantly distracted by the pet cat. And that's definitely not a unique case.

It's a rare pleasure to have a dungeon that you speed through because the tank is full-pulling and the DPS going out is so high that you just charge through everything.

Tell her that the Selene-only method only works in super low-level sync

My life for a healer that actually heals me when I W2W as tank in dungeons.
:stress:
I get so many close calls that my clenched asshole gets more of a work out than my legs at work.

Did you die though?
wat...gif

Yes.
There have been many cases where I have in fact died.
I swear to fuck of you say "skill issue", I'll find out where you live and set your home on fire.

Skill issue.

Yeah, no, if you're eating shit because the healer isn't keeping up, that's on them.
IT'S NOT A SKILL ISSUE, FUCK OFF.

I know I'm doomed when I see the healer cast Cure 3 on me.

So far this week I've done expert roulette twice and got the Arizona dungeon both times.
Both times the healer died to the maze mech, despite me telling them to follow me. They proceed to ignore me, blindly run into whatever they can run into and then unceremoniously slump to the floor dead whilst I rub my temple in frustration at having my time wasted.

I had a tank that popped all of their mits at once. after the boss died.

The reason people use the high-end guides is because FFXIV doesn't really have the complexity for a 'middle-ground' right now. There is no room for "moderately optimised" because you're either using unmelded tomestone gear which is completely playable for Extremes and anything below, or you're using pots/melding SkS (which still isn't difficult) to clear Savages. The only optimisation beyond that is for challenge runs and involves tiny gameplay changes. The lack of mid-level guides is just a reflection of the game itself.

If you have to recommend the average player a rotation guide then your options are 1) youtube vid where a skimpy catgirl who sounds like an overweight nerd reads your tooltips to you for 20 minutes or 2) diagrams from an autistic Discord explaining the minutiae of when to lateweave your OGCD for maximum buff coverage. People recommend the latter because even getting the buttons in roughly the right order will still get you through 99% of the game.

Also, I'm dumb and didn't realise CWLS are invite only, so the Formerly Chuck's CWLS is over, and in its place is the brand new Formerly Chuck's Fellowship. If you're playing on Aether and you find it difficult to sneed as the jannies lean on your neck, feel free to join, you wont regret it

I know WAR, PLD, and GNB are all able to solo expert-level roulettes, but I'm not sure if DRK can.

In a double-pulling scenario, it's really only when the DPS are literal paste-eaters doing single-target damage that any of the tanks really need to rely on the healer, though. At that point, even Warrior can start to struggle relying purely on self-sustain (but since it has a full heal every 30 seconds that's still not really enough).

Mmm...
I guess I don't really get it since I've never had to rely on Balance. I just practice on dummies and run dungeons to build up that muscle memory myself with me only going to a guide if I need clarification on something.
I was the same way and I was a consistently high blue/purple parsing in my friends and family savage group with kill times that were obviously pulling down my average. People overestimate how much optimization is needed to kill a boss.

What tank class? How do you use your mits?
I only have this issue on GNB.
And like any half way decent tank, I rotate my mits and I don't pop them all at the same time like a retard.
The problem isn't my mitigation, the problem is that the healers won't stop acting like green dps for long enough to keep me from dying. And if it's not that, they use only the weakest healing spell in their kit because pressing an OGCD on a W2W trash pull when they're struggling is too much to ask for.
If I rotate through every single one of my mits INCLUDING my invul and I still die, that's not my fault. I did my job. There's only so much I can do when I have a healer that doesn't want to heal. I'm not asking to be topped off all the time. I'm asking that they don't wait until I'm 3 auto attacks away from death.

I more so meant how you use the long and shorts mits. Do you only ever have 1 mit up at a time? I typically have a long + a short or 2 shorts up at a time.

I would certainly hope, based on the game knowledge she's expressed over the course of the thread, that she knows exactly how using stuff like Nebula + Heart works.

Wouldn't work. She's one of those types that are heavily attention-deficient and a bit... well, to be as nice as I can be... a bit basic at times.

This is one of my favourite things to do on WHM during a dungeon. Let the tank's HP go so low that their asshole is clenched tightly and they think they're about to die, then hit em with a Benediction for a full heal.

I get to spam Holy more and the tank being nervous is funny.
