There's an (unofficial) Japanese Character poll out right now
1721411983314.png
🥇Erenville (931 votes)
🥈Cahciua (710)
🥉Krile (642)
4️⃣ Bakool Jaja (641)
5️⃣ Sphene (568)
6️⃣ Wuk Evu (534)
7️⃣ Koana (533)
8️⃣ Gulool Jaja (458)
9️⃣ Otis (445)
🔟 Honey Bee (343)
Wuk isn't even in the top 10. And this is a JP poll, so not even a non-troon voice saves her. Lol, lmao even.

Also, Desolance might be serving jailtime and was finally banned from YT. I archived most of his retardation if it ever becomes relevant again but it's not worth shitting up the thread with more of the same schizobabble. Nothing interesting in the court docs yet either.

Im hating Wuk's character alot less than i expected, its less hate and more me being annoyed at the fact that the writing is bad more than any particular peeve about her design, role, characterization or even VA
at first i disliked Bakool because he is written to be too cartoonishly evil but the admittedly forced but emotional heel turn saved him for me, it helped that he had an entire dungeon around the whole dead two headed baby graveyard
Erenville is the one everyone likes but im just meh on him, Sphene seems obviously cartoonishly evil and im barely at the level 97 quests or so

Other than that i hate how Tural is very superficially meso-american/south american, people gushed about how respectful it is but there wasnt even an attempt to do anything based on the actual societies of the era even though the Incas were right there and slightly less cartoonishly evil and un-pc like anything from now modern Mexico
I can already picture some retard who self idenitifes as chicano being up all giddy going to their abuelita asking to eat Cochinita Pibil

>Spleene is number 5

The cute girl model is carrying hard, she fucking sucks.

Monitor rabbit deserves number 1 instead of 2, and I'm glad to see giga chad Otis made it.
I would imagine she wins a lot of bonus points with people for simply not being Wuk. By the point she's introduced, I'd also wager most people have started to check out of the story. Her being a generically cute girl, not being a furry cat-failure, and not being attached to our character's hip probably goes a very long way.
And yes, Otis is the best part of the second half of the MSQ. As a Paladin main, I will happily accept him as our class representative this expansion. Not only does he continue to protect his charge after his death, but he even tried to shield us as players from the drudgery of the MSQ with his levity and fun personality.

Ah, I came to laugh about the character poll but I see I was late. Well deserved I'd say.

As a Endwalker MSQ hater I'm kinda relieved more people are reaching the apathy point towards the story.

TBH I always thought FF14's story was pretty lackluster overall. Even ShB fucking drags at points.

The good parts are very good though.

I knew Wuk Lamat was in a bad position, but damn, knocked to the 11th spot by a girl people have known for less than a week, has no voice acting outside of battle, and barely says anything else to us, the player, at all.

That's bad.

Even worse, she's lower than Wuk Evu, who'd hate he's ranked higher than the DawnServant, until he's told not to worry atleast.

I'd imagine they're probably going to pivot as hard as they can away from her, though we're likely to see her still up to and including 7.3 as that's when the DT story will end; with the next story breadcrumbs starting 7.3.5.

She's going to be the next Lyse.

XIV's story can be said to be standard japanese shonen fare, tailored to be fit for a MMO. That said, the care they shown when building the initial world of Eorzea is very apparent in both ARR, Heavensward, and to a lesser extent, Stormblood, which I think serves to elevate the servicable writing in ARR and Stormblood, and absolutely makes Heavensward pop.

From Shadowbringer onwards, you can tell they're running out of ideas and starting to invent things wholecloth with the current (less talented) writing team. Some of it is done rather well (Thavnair, parts of Garlemald), though I suspect they may still be borrowing from the 1.0 worldbuilding bible for those two. Some like Sharlayan is very noticably barren outside the the city itself, and I felt the First itself had a very abbreviated history which lacks the depth that Eorzea had.

EDIT: Fun fact, the dragon language that was omnipresent in the first part of the game was in fact invented by an autistic artist in his own spare time. Complete with its own grammar, syntax, etc. That's how much care the worldbuilding was shown at the start of the game.

lol, the fact that some raid character made the list but Wuk Lamat didn’t is absolutely hilarious.

Finally got Black Mage to 100 and I think I've seen 5-7 black mages in my entire leveling experience so far. This class is just NOT popular anymore huh? Still haven't even touched Dawntrail content yet, I forgot how much of a drag Endwalker's patch quests were in comparison to every other expansion's patch quests.

It doesn't help that Sharlayan doesn't have an ethnic identity, just like the Tural capital.
I'm hoping for a post expansion cycle or an expansion focusing on Garlemald proper.
There's plenty of material there for another succession conflict, and while the legions are surely mostly gone or diminished, that still leaves thousands of fighting age men milling about.
Imagine Ilsabard suffering from former imperial legions having turned into regional warlords and freikorps units acting as bandits and political revolutionaries. The current rebuilding of Garlemald is too saccharine, we need more lvl 83 Endwalker kino

Nope. Soloing is a nightmare compared to every other class and your rotation changes periodically which is annoying when you're doing roulettes. It's just very unfriendly overall.

I've heard lots of Jobs complaining, but BLM seems to be the one that was affected the most.
Plus it seems Picto is just taking more people away.

I played the MSQ mostly on Monk, and I can feel just how "simplified" the job is now, but I don't have enough high level experience to make a call yet.

Yeah I can't believe they decided to kneecap endgame play instead of making the class more enjoyable for newcomers, especially since it's a starter class that is already known for not being very enjoyable at low level gameplay.
What are the complaints? Haven't dinged to 100 yet, but I am enjoying the 4 flare setups so far, don't know why they changed the way Thunder works though.
In my opinion as well as most of the Black Mage players I've talked to, the class feels way more rigid to play in comparison to Endwalker. A lot of the freedoms that you once had beforehand (thunders whenever, ice paradox, nonstandard rotations) were taken away and everything feels clunky to play for the most part. If they reverted the thunder change and brought back ice paradox and made it so you got mana back whenever you used ANY spell in ice phase, the class would feel better to play.

AOE attacks such as high fire and high ice do so little damage that it's unironically better to use Freeze, Transpose, and use Flare. Black Mage, the selfish turret class that exists to do damage, barely does any fucking damage.

Along with all of that, PCT just does way more damage, has raid buffs, and doesn't feel like shit to play. It even has ley lines...

Yeah usually I can kinda get what they're doing with class changes even if they're annoying, like with AST.

But I have absolutely zero idea what the fuck they were doing with BLM.

While they will up the BLM damage eventually, it seems like it doesn't "conceptually" fits in the game anymore. I know normal content is a meme, but you can kinda feel it in some DT leveling/post-MSQ dungeons already, where you can't really pick a "safety tile" and turret away, with an occasional Aetherial Manipulation/Triplecast, as the fights are faster, with more movement, which is good, unless you literally have to stand there for 30 seconds. EX1 is a fucking nightmare on BLM. It might be possible to get 100% uptime there, but you'd probably have to go full autism, just so that you can do less damage than Picto, which is basically BLM-lite, complete with LL, Triplecast, and some long cast time spells, and currently is much more enjoyable to play (although, I'm not a fan of audio/visuals).

What does it seem that BLM needs?

I stopped at level 70 and never went back to it. It was my starting job. I've tried every other job and just never went back to it.

It seems to me that BLM has an issue with movement almost constantly. Perhaps giving Leylines 2 charges and damage taken reduction buff while inside?

Stick the charges on 30 second cooldown, while it lasts 30 seconds.

Instead of trying to fix the inability to move, they should rather lean into it? Work around the issue, rather than solve it and change the jobs identity.

Maybe also add a spell to teleport back to the center of the leyline, when movement is absolutely a must (in the case of 1-ahot mechanics)?
