The land of the rising sun knows deep in its core knows what is going on and going wrong in the world, they just speak through the antagonists as opposed to the protagonists. All this optimism with the protagonists way of thinking and how it resolves everything is just to get themselves published and sold while everyone claps at the happy ending. Then they pool their money together so they can fuck off to their no Gaijins/NEETs allowed dome on Mars or some shit and reveal themselves for what they truly are.
But let's be real, none of this drama will matter in a week maybe a month tops unless Rin forcibly drags this out. At most Rin's e-celeb career with crash into the sun and then we'll forget about him until he makes himself a nuisance again like he never existed at all. Remember billboard con? That shit went nowhere once the event ended.
Yeah this dwama specifically seemed to be confined to NA. You won't hear a peep about this in JP. Or maybe they have their own shitty JP drama that we don't hear of.

JP seems pretty adept at policing their own. Apparently there are private blacklists that folks circulate and there's an expectation to know your shit, not be a liability and be polite or you're going to be shunned pretty quickly. I don't know how widespread it is, but they seem to handle shit 'properly.'
(Also probably helps that they just have shut-ins that haven't been polluted by troon garbo (yet.))
I also don't think this is really indicative of anything. Rin's been a shithead since I started playing this game and this is just more of the same.
Folks 'turning' on Zepla is borne out of #1 best-selling game and 2023 GOTY candidate Hogwart's Legacy (which was also the #1 most stream game on Twitch) and not really related to FFXIV drama. The other shit just seems like the usual RP/venue/modding drama that infests literally any community that has those sorts of elements. There was crap back over the summer IIRC on some dude getting his mods deleted cos he was a 'white supremacist' or something.
This game's community just has a higher percentage of people who don't want to 'rock the boat' and let people who are more socially inept than them walk all over them. Then you have blow-ups. I imagine that we're seeing more of it now because the World of Warcraft wave has receded and that shit is becoming more and more noticeable.
Bingo. I'm pretty sure every MMO has a critical mass of drama and other retarded shit happening all the time. The major difference is that XIV is now popular so there's more eyes on the drama than before which makes it feel far more prevalent than it really is. 99% of my interactions in this game boil down to either explaining a mechanic to some sprout and them being like, "oh thanks for the info", or petting c@s.
XIV drama basically exists in its own bubble. If you encounter a lot of it, then you should consider self-reflection on what you're doing to invite so much of it into your life.

JP is also a very different culture generally speaking with how it approaches things like this. Naming and shaming is far more encouraged as opposed to outright open conflict slap fights, which is why public block lists exist. This kind of open conflict is usually considered a bad thing and poor form, especially in real life.
Think of it like this, if Americans want to argue they'll just fucking argue even if it is retarded and no one is going to back down from shit unless someone's boss is forcing them to take it. So in a typical public dispute an American will likely just do stupid shit and start arguing to the point of possibly fighting. Their is a lot less filter I find when I've asked for comparisons from people who've gone to Japan and tourists have very little protections in Japan so they're easy targets if you're not careful. This type of open aggression is especially true in some dog shit shithole place with some kind of street trash population. Japan has similar people in a sense with the likes of the Yanki, but they're less common and they're more akin to annoying bikers then some dumb shit who wants to use back alley kung fu and get on world star hiphop because their ape brain turned on.
This more aggressive approach isn't really a thing very often in Japan, especially to other Japanese people. That's more like some teenage thing you are expected to grow out of by high school. Japanese people from what I've observed and asked from people who've been there tend to be more passive aggressive then aggressive aggressive. I've been told stories of Japanese people actually audibly grinding their teeth as they walk away from a situation but they'll never say shit. They nod and roll with it even if they hate you. You don't want to be "that guy" in Japan, you stay in your lane and just kind of keep to yourself for better and for worse. That's the Nippon way from what I've been able to assess.
They have a mold and you don't break it. You can't even listen or buy to metal music without looking like you are trying to hide porn from your colleagues in Japan. A lot of Japanese suits love metal for example but it doesn't fit the mold so they approach it almost like they're trying to buy hentai when around their work colleagues which is just bizarre to me. Soken must make all those SE suits very happy when he composes his rock music for them to listen to without shame or dishonor. Hell even things like "Kawaii"ness which looks like pure anime cringe to us, was apparently an anti-conformist movement when it first started as a means to "break the mold" of cultural norms.
Even when some Chinese tourist fuck wants to be a jackass and disrespect your culture, the most common response is to be death glared for say walking down the hallway of the kami in what could be considered holy ground as opposed to someone wanting to hit you with their Bible if you tried to be an ass like that in a Church. Yes this actually happened according to someone I know who went to Japan, and this is with Chinese people and we all probably know how much other Asians like each other especially Chinese and Japanese given their history since the dawn of time. No one said shit, but the tension and hatred was incredibly obvious. If you want aggression, you have to bring in the police involved or have some rebel who will be scolded get involved like one of those Yanki punks or some low level young Yakuza guy who gets a little too anxious.
Japan exercises a very silent and passive form of aggression compared to what say a burger would typically do, they'll just silently ignore you before getting in your face more likely then not. You start getting antsy, you're a problem to general society. You name and shame them in silence, but otherwise you go keep to yourself. You need to go on 2ch or something to really get what someone online thinks about in those circles. Japan is a weird place, it has its pluses but considering the suicide rate you can imagine it has its minuses too. I've been told this, Japan is a great place to visit but not to live. Most people would likely hate living in Japan's work society as I'm sure most people here know a little something about that.

Yeah it seems to be fucked right now, but I luckily had the window open enough that I can at least see some thumbnail images. I tried to archive this last night, but it failed for about two hours and I gave up. I at least got these then for our "amusement" if you can call this that in case it gets deleted entirely. This shows a good amount of shoulder if it helps you out.
Already know about it thanks to another thread here. Not pleased about it one bit because this is exactly the stunt Hbomberguy pulled years before Mermaids UK had skeletons in their closet spill out.
He'll regret this decision whether he knows it or doesn't. Pity... His Crap Guides series is one of many reasons I eventually picked up XIV.
I knew what side he'd come out on (because it'd be influencer suicide if you didn't), I just didn't think it'd be that way. Also, willing to bet he'll have an easier time than most getting an TOP clear; he has an over one-million YouTube channel and people know him. Even with him saying he's never done an Ultimate before; he'll have people offering their time/skill to help. Not saying he'll be completely carried (because Ultimates don't really do that). But he's not gonna be your typical every man trying to form a group to tackle the challenge.
It's also Very Bold™ of him to come out as cis and declare he has girly clothes he'll want to wear. He's definitely not pandering during this casting call.

I don't know, from the word go he kind of struck me as a creepy incel. Something about his personality and his looks just gave me bad vibes and I'm wondering if somewhere later down the line, it's revealed he's hitting up underaged kids or sexually assaulting women. I don't think he's married, is he?

Jo has a girlfriend, ironically enough. It's always possible she's the one who coerced him into this, but I think it's all him because he's mega-woke and been cultivating this audience with his DnD content. I tacitly gave him a pass... until this announcement.
So JoCat's thrown his lot in with the woke crowd, has he? He's welcome to do that so long as he doesn't practice the same cringe harassment they like to do but I hope he knows that pandering to a group of bullies will get him no where and the moment he steps outta line, he'll be discarded from their ally pile so fast, it'll make the Flash look like an embarrassment.
Thank God I picked a euro server. No drama AT ALL. Sure the French are French, but they still beat content.. eventually. (In all seriousness I can count on one hand the problems I've had.)

People might disagree with me here, but seeing him take this principled approach regardless of my opinions on the demographic he’s pandering to kind of softened my opinion of him. I find it almost admirable.
I'm sure he's not dumb enough to not know that making that video and openly coming out with his opinion is going to attract attention, both warranted and unwarranted.
It's sad that there always has to be an extreme, no one can ever find middle ground on anything and those that are able to are caught in the crossfire of the 2 extremes retardedly waging war on one another. Logic than gets completely drowned out for smooth brained downies to have excuses and justifications for behaving like morally bankrupt individuals to other people.
Learning to accept another's opinion even if it's one you disagree with and not devolving yourself into a fart smelling, hate mongering lunatic. It's just too much to ask of people these days.

Even if he's got some sense I still find the whole thing a massive waste of cash, though. I took a look at the gendered intelligence website and it's literally just there to spread tranny propaganda. Go do a charity drive for a pediatric cancer foundation or something.
