AFAIK, there's actually a mod that lets you synch up other people's mod layouts in-game through some third party service so that you can also see their characters how they see theirs with their own mods.
Mare is the plugin that's all the rage now. You can only see mods from someone who you've added with a friend code. You both have to have each other added to see each others mods. It's used almost exclusively for fetish outfits and body mods so their catgirl can have something resembling a dick. It's a good idea in theory that is totally lost on its userbase.

I don't know if I have gotten stockholm syndrome but I kinda of like how retarded the fanbase is. Tbf I stay clear of rp niggas, because if gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back.

Ive only been playing for like 3 years now but my only major experiences was seeing a scamming/divorce in an FC, the owner of that was this retarded pseudo tranny that had as much IQ as a rock and e-begged for fanta/MTX money, he got fleeced for a fuckton of mogstation shit by a wow-refugee paid mostly by FC peoples who gave him money

Other than that atleast 2 retards in a run (one healer who refused to take more than 1 pull at a time because of "muh anxiety, we were level 40), and an ERP-er duo where the "man" called his GF a bad autistic healer and that i needed to pull less, ironically enough, she did fine.
I think a lot of the differences we're seeing in experiences is down to how much you're willing to tolerate shitty play.

Personally, I don't care if the group pulls one at a time; so long they avoid shitty deaths and know that their skills exist. My expectation for any public group is correspondingly near rock bottom, so it's rare that people actually turn out to be that bad. I'm betting a lot of you lot here places a higher premium on your time and react accordingly.

That said, I had the displeasure of encountering a tank in Copperbell that barely knows how to hit their keys. Pulling not one group at a time, but one mob. I ended up tanking the rest of the instance with my healer and the fellow summoner as a red mage. Was a pretty funny thing, on hindsight.

It is also possible to join these massive "syncshells" groups which let you sync with everyone in it, meaning you can see random people's dicks while you run around in cities
You can easily take 100 gigs off your hard drive with this as it stores everything locally

As well as particular pet-peeves. A warrior player is going to notice a lot more when the healer isn't doing damage, since the warrior... doesn't need healing.

Or when you play BLM and you realize how easy the basic rotation is, so you're of course annoyed with the 90% of that job's playerbase that are either ice mages or fire 3 -> blizzard 3

We're not even talking about average player competency though, which is already low to begin with. Shitty players or not isn't really going to have much of an effect on most of the playerbase being absolutely fucking weird from a social standpoint.

My pet peeve is dying as a Warrior during easy trash pulls even after using all of my CDs, looking over and seeing my level 90 Mentor Scholar is hardly touching anything, eating every mechanic and dying to the second boss of a dungeon, and generally not seeming to understand how their abilities work despite being a level 90 Mentor. Case in point: Throwing out an Excog before raidwide damage goes out... And THEN throwing out Succor after everyone gets hit. I felt bad for our Red Mage that run. They ended up having to be a substitute healer quite often.

It's called Mare. (EDIT: Whoops, didn't see next page.) It can also replace animations (I think?) and other shit, too.

I don't use it, but a couple of my friends do. You can very easily crash people's games. Do what you will with that knowledge.

I just want folks to be halfway competent and receptive to adjustments. Like "hey, could you toss some damage spells in?" and not immediately start hyperventilating or tardraging out.

XIV players are some of the most terminally triggered and offended people I’ve seen online.
I've thought about adding to my search info about how I bought three copies of Hogwarts Legacy for Me, my wife, and my wife's son and loved it. Want to see how many people would fall for such easy bait. Probably none but the community is really retarded so who knows. Best part is that they couldn't ban me for it.

Hogwarts Legacy is still a great game. Final Fantasy will never be as good.

I don't use Mare with the one mod I have (enables hats for viera and hrothgar.) Just didn't seem terribly worth it.

For what it's worth I only had one instance of retardation the whole MSQ which was DPS with gear ten levels below what he was at. Otherwise the real fun is the optional content. Watching two DPS start bickering mid-Pandaemonium was a sight to behold but more like watching Walmart customers fight.

Not really worth using it unless you absolutely want to know what everyone's stuff looks like or you want to make sure they see your mods. The one or two I've used are for small edits or minor texture improvements.

I also just get a feeling Mare is gonna cause a chimp out from SE at some point or another. They sure hate them plogons.

... technically-mentor motherfucker over here.

Fuck the Final Fantasy XIV playerbase and fuck SquareEnix for enabling their behavior with vague policies and uncaring moderation. I'll take my hats with pride.
A Burger King Crown for you.

Get a fucking job

Was wanting to ask; anyone have any history of dealing with the roleplay community on FFXIV? Haven't exactly interacted with them much myself, so I don't have anything; any horror stories you want to share?
Summary: FFXIV RP tends to fall into one of three camps in open public circles.

Very boring nightclub/tavern social gathering stuff which is just kind of inoffensive and boring with maybe some incredibly cringey flirting.

Usual coomer dump fetishism because FFXIV has a pretty active modding scene for molding your character in just about any degenerate fantasy you can think of. From making female Miqo'te females look like femboy twinks to...well I'll let your imagination figure out the deeper end. Just presume the answer is yes if you ask if something exists here.

The most offensive, to me, is the absolutely unhinged AU writing from people who can't read the story or the lore and can't quite pinpoint how this prompt works within the broader story that already exists. They're just too enraptured with their crap that they throw good lore out for bad and try to drag other people into it in some Discord server or linkshell. I've seen people try to RP as void summoning cultists, primal summoners that will totally be 100% not cracked down on, we had a Garlean Guerilla warfare communism division unit to push back the Garleans...somehow somewhere because the WoL and grand companies don't matter posted ITT awhile back.

I've seen people just fuck up even basic ideas and concepts of what the WoL is, and just fucking everything really has showed up if you look around. It is just bad fanfiction that tries to expand on shit people think is canon. You usually see this with underexplored things like moon cats, Duskwight, Viera in-general, or Xaela tribes people characters.

The best "RP" I've seen with FFXIV isn't really RP, its more like people just making a story of what their WoL is or does beyond the MSQ which is broadly where I fall into. I got a story all written out for who my WoL is based on what the story has given me, and I just use that as a vehicle to engage with the story more for my own personal reason. I'll never openly RP this with anyone because it just doesn't work.

I have discussed "what if" scenarios with people who do similar things to me just because it is fun to imagine how different WoLs react to the same circumstances and how they share what they've experienced with each other. The biggest difference I've had is one friend is a 1.0 character, and mine is not, and we've discussed at length how that affects how we take in the story as characters. Its different to say the least.

Here is one "what if" for ya that my friends and I discussed.
During Shadowdow bringers what if you as the WoL succumbed to the Light Wardens' influence and turned. I think Emmet himself said that he wasn't sure if he or the other few Ascians left would be able to control you. If that is the case, I think that you would of pretty much finished off the First. And since you could travel between the First and the source, you would like go there and end it as well. It would of been incredibly chaotic.

Next seasonal event coming up from the 1st of march to the 15th with a new dance available to collect as well as art and music. anything you people find interesting to get?
