Calling Goblins antisemetic is beyond insane. These rabid gender specials must have confused the Harry Potter goblins with Final Fantasy goblins, because this is what FF goblins look under the mask. They can't say "well Hobgoblins--" nono, they explicitly stated the Illuminati which means the Source goblins not the First's hobgoblins with disfigured, exposed human-like faces. In their seething rage towards JK Rowling, they forgot not all goblins are the same.

A few things, namely this, almost make me think that the trigger warning list is pure bait, because this is one hell of a reach (especially since the Goblins aren't even actually greedy).

Even though I’m a fan of Final Fantasy and I’m interested in FFXIV and I want to play it, the community is a turn off.
If you stay away from the main AFK spots like Limsa, you won't encounter nearly as much retardation. You can also solo most of the game's story. NPC support has been added to nearly every story dungeon and I believe it's mostly boss fights and the ARR raids that require you to queue up with people now.

FFXIV trigger warning list.
XIV players are some of the most terminally triggered and offended people I’ve seen online. They’re constantly screaming about whatever plot points that cross their mind due to their terrible reading comprehensions seeing offensive material everywhere. One of the few good things about XI’s community is that it is pretty much free of these people. Let’s hope XI’s community stays that way.
I read this, and I can only scratch my head.

Lay off the drink, cat lady. Nobody fucking cares.

The Doma storyline and North Othard itself (South Othard is Ivalice land) involves a lot of gross pan-asianism that is Japanese centric and later on has a grossly written plotline where Hein wants a "Xaela Army". Meanwhile Ala Mhigo which is obvious based on the SWANA region gets written with way less attention and care to the point where much of their story gets sidelined in a good chunk of Stormblood.
Fucking lol. What a fucking reach for a Japanese game.

I had no idea a culture could be copyrighted. If they think players who wear the outfit is erasure, I don't think they would like the fact I knew of their existence because of a Simpsons joke.
Any other "culture:" "Y-y-you can't wear our special clothes. That's appropriation!"

Japan: "You want to be a massive weeb and own a katana? You want to wear clothing unique to our culture? You want to also participate in the objectification of the ritual garb of priestesses of our unique religion? Hell yeah, man. You and your friends line up over there, I'll take your picture."

The problem, as per usual with these retards, is that they only have a surface-level understanding of what words, themes, narrative, etc. mean.

They see the word Illuminati and immediately jump to contemporary phrases when the writing of this game has repeatedly and continuously used antiquated language to foster an immersive feel (eg, chirurgeon instead of doctor/surgeon, dextral/sinistral or larboard when referring to directions, etc.)

Illuminati's historical origins, and how it ties into the Alexander raid series, is almost a perfect fit, and I'm glad JP still has the sense to avoid 'harmful' language because someone lacks basic reading comprehension skills.

If FFXIV's Illuminati was led by Hooknix Manypockets and they exploded into bags of gil or something, yeah, they might have a point. Or if this was the only instance of using an antiquated word. But....that's not the case. The Illuminati are portrayed as competent (although mildly goofy) villains who are more focused on order/control (which is the motivation for countless villains in countless stories.)

View this sort of shit as the equivalent of Trade chat in WoW. You rarely have instances of it disrupting play and can tune it out pretty decently.

There are folks out there who aren't genderspecial retards and just wanna play/enjoy the game. My FC are all playing the #1 streamed game on Twitch: Hogwarts Legacy and make jokes about autism, etc. There's a bit of raid/parsing autism but that's sorta inescapable in MMO end content.

Was wanting to ask; anyone have any history of dealing with the roleplay community on FFXIV? Haven't exactly interacted with them much myself, so I don't have anything; any horror stories you want to share?
FFXIV's RP community is a mixed bag and most of it is awful. I wont say I haven't met some cool people, but the amount of shit you have to sift through to find it isn't worth it for most people. The community falls into probably 3 categories. There's the afk crowd who's entire identity is parking their character in high traffic areas so they have to be seen, and sit there 24/7 never playing the game. There's the erp crowd which is almost exclusively dickgirls and femboys. Then there's the "club" scene which involves a handful of people afk in someone's house while they all watch a shitty dj on twitch.

Honestly a lot of the RP community is incredibly boring. The best way to describe is like high school. Everyone has their own little cliques just so they can hold some small amount of power over other people. Everyone thinks they're the hottest shit, and all they do is jack each other off in chat to try and make themselves seem more important than they really are even though the only noteworthy thing about them might be they won the lotto on a housing plot.

Well in the same way they’ll call orcs racist for apparently being niggers, now goblins are “anti-Semitic” because these people have declared that they are Jews. The “I am not a hateful person” crowd has now gone after fantasy.

Because they're running out of shit to be mad about and provide the right™ response for to gain asspats. There's already a noticable, non-zero degree of inclusivity in most media being created today and since these faggots sure as shit can't create worthwhile media of their own, the only option left is to suddenly be mad at creators who died at least half a century ago and fabricate reasons to dog-pile the rest that are alive.

I literally login, /busy, and just go about my business doing as much content ss possible solo. A newbie sprout once asked me why I had the busy status, and I explained what you just stated to them. They told me it was sad that I had to effectively play an online gqme without others, but that's just what happens when you have an absolutely mental playerbase. I avoid IRL Final Fantasy XIV discussion because even off-platform offenses can get me banned.

The fact of the matter is this, and I explained this to the aforementioned sprout; do I value my 13 year old account, or do I value communicating with degenerates? Simply, the former. I won't put my account in jeopardy because I actually like playing Final Fantasy XIV. I like the entire Final Fantasy series. So if me not talking to anyone means I keep my account, so be it. Full lv90s, omnicrafter, technically-mentor motherfucker over here.

Fuck the Final Fantasy XIV playerbase and fuck SquareEnix for enabling their behavior with vague policies and uncaring moderation. I'll take my hats with pride.

Unless you play a female character or a Hrothgar, that seems a little extreme.

My situation is about the same, except I'm currently about 8-9 levels away on most classes from being a true omnicrafter and I don't set myself to /busy, and nobody ever bothers me anyway.

Granted, I do also spend 90% of my time idling in my house rather than in any city areas, but you know. If I wasn't doing that, I'd probably just be idling in an inn room unless I need something.

I don't know what it's like on other data centers, but thankfully I don't get bothered often enough by weirdos to consider going /busy. I do get the occasional /tell when I pass through Limsa for GC stuff (I play a female Miqo, so I guess it's expected), but that's about it.

Main thing that really annoyed me when I started playing this game are the free companies and how aggressive they are with scouting new members. It seemed like every hour I was getting an invite notification + big ass /tell macro from these weird FCs that advertise as 18+ LGBTQ, "we're a family" nonsense, etc. Absolutely annoying-- I ended up just creating a solo FC to make it stop as I didn't want to set my status as /busy all the time.

I wonder what is the probability of finding a FC of normal gamers anyway? Seems like every one of them are RP, LGBTQ hugbox, etc.

It takes a bit of work but I used the community finder page on the lodestone to browse FCs and rejected all the ones that mentioned being lgbtq+ friendly/a safe space in the description and ended up with an FC that's fine. It's not foolproof of course but you have more control than taking a gamble with random invites.

Some of you must be real unlucky cause I've been playing for years now and the worst I've experienced is the occasional clumsy duty finder experiences like someone turning Angry manju's eye laser around and nuking everyone.
Or you're just immaculately lucky, considering this tends to be a lot of people's experience with XIV judging by some of the rumblings I've seen around the internet.

To really fuck with this community, someone aught to get them to realize that being a die-hard weeb is just orientalism with a new coat of paint. The infighting would be a good time.

Honestly, there's nothing quite like a dead FC. People don't spam stupid shit, and if you want to chatter with friends, just make a linkshell. You're free from FC tells, and you can just go throw on the buffs if you really feel like it yourself.

As the owner of a private FC, can confirm. I just wish I could build my own airship a bit more conveniently.

I hope whatever game designer decided to make Darksteel Ore a necessary raw material for most of the initial airship mats steps barefoot on a glass-studded lego.

Ive only been playing for like 3 years now but my only major experiences was seeing a scamming/divorce in an FC, the owner of that was this retarded pseudo tranny that had as much IQ as a rock and e-begged for fanta/MTX money, he got fleeced for a fuckton of mogstation shit by a wow-refugee paid mostly by FC peoples who gave him money

Other than that atleast 2 retards in a run (one healer who refused to take more than 1 pull at a time because of "muh anxiety, we were level 40), and an ERP-er duo where the "man" called his GF a bad autistic healer and that i needed to pull less, ironically enough, she did fine.

I've had a bit of experience with them and I can make a couple observations of people who claim to be 'serious' rpers in that game:

1. A lot of the characters suffer from, to use a D&D term, main character syndrome. A lot the characters are written like they're main characters of a novel and not really as characters for a D&D game (which should be what FC RP is aspiring to?). They're usually important figures in the military, they've had several years of experience under their belt involving slaying Garlean generals and shit, they're characters who do huge things in their backstories that it really begs the question of why they're choosing to work at an RP Applebees. Shouldn't they be retiring in Kugane with all that status?

2. The characters are also decked out in mods. The goofy outfits you see in the open world is actually a far cry from how it looks on their client. Some FCs make mods an outright requirement because you have to see their amazing OC they put so much work in designing. Many times you don't even recognize the game you're looking at with their screenshots.

3. Speaking of screenshots, people in the RP community are obsessed with taking screenshots of their characters to the point where it feels unhealthy. Some will post screenshots every day on an average of three screenshots a day. It's insanity to me.

4. Straight characters are actually an extreme rarity. Every character is some flavor of LGBTQIAP+. Some of them do it for fetish reasons (fujoshi), some do it because nerds have to align with the LGBT community nowadays I guess.

5. RPers are also mentally ill. I don't say that as a derogatory insult, I mean the grand majority of them at least 90% of them have some form of debilitating mental illness. Their vent tabs are rife with depression posting, how life sucks, extreme leftist shit, and how much they want to kill themselves.

AFAIK, there's actually a mod that lets you synch up other people's mod layouts in-game through some third party service so that you can also see their characters how they see theirs with their own mods.
