Suffering through party finder advertising a run as a X mechanic prog party when in practice it's actually 2 mechanics behind.
Not surprising that it's that bad. Party finder never seems to learn.

Some friends spouted a lot of whining about class balance recently. Raid tranny shit.

I've had little to no interest in the game. Haven't logged on the game in months. Thought I'd check the thread. Same old same old.

The raid scene being so egregiously shit as of this expac really seems to have knocked all the wind out of your sails.

You hate to see it.

Having the free time makes a big difference. Raiding is too much effort. Everyone wants week 1/top parses. Nobody has the mindset for it and people will ruin your experience over it. Seeing videos as the following thrown around just cements it for me.

The balance is "concerning", for week 1. From the comments section, the same tired tripe among other things:
  • We need test servers (so raid trannies can cry more)
  • Physical ranged "tax" (people don't remember Heavensward)
  • The game forces you to play optimally
  • Simplifying the game made it more complicated
The community makes me miss old WoW. Either you're walking on eggshells or players try to ERP with you.

6.0 finished the story for me. I don't have interest in the content. It's either not challenging enough to retain my interest, or it's time gated/drip fed to keep up a subscription fee.

I'm having more fun playing other games right now

I fucking can't with my fc. We are having a black history month even though everyone in the fc is white.
But it's October.

Sounds like you should leave.

Oh, trust me, I've been painfully aware of this general mindset since Heavensward and have bitched about it enough times in the past.

But lol at the fact that players are worrying about week 1 balancing when the devs recently admitted that they accidentally overtuned P8S on launch because their internal test team got too good at the fight over time and, thus, was not providing practical results.

The community reminds me of Nerd Crew from RLM without even a shred of irony sometimes.

"See, when WoW added the transmog to their in game store I hated it, but now that FFXIV added the fat cat outfit to their mog station I think it's the best thing ever."
"Yeah, it's really cool that Squeenix knows their fanbase unlike Blizzard entertainment. Seriously, we've been asking for a fat cat outfit for a long time."
"And if anyone draws any comparisons I always point out that WoW is a bad game, but FFXIV is a good game."
"That's a sick burn if I've ever heard one there!"
"It's great that Yoshida is looking out for his fans. Can we get a trans rights in the chat!?"

why are you in that FC to begin with.
No amount of raid prog justifies kissing nigger/tranny feet

Now that I think about prog was the only reason I joined and that never happens because most of them suck so fucking much. The only upside that I have with the fc is that its so retarded sometimes. That I don't need to come to farms to laugh at retards.

People obsess on clearing week 1 to a point where I can't help but think they don't like raiding. They like clearing.

MMO players make the mistake of trying to find another mmo that does the thing they want it to do. It is not uncommon with raider types to hear them whine about the good old days or how the game should be.

In real life you don't always get what you want. I guess it makes sense why a bunch of these players are troons.

Of course. People have always treated raiding in XIV like a status symbol first and foremost, and so they all want to be part of the privileged few who "mastered" the fight before anyone else.

But I guess that really isn't any different from other popular MMOs.

Honestly, I got into raiding cause I wanted to know what it's like and I ran out of other things to do but I'm starting to feel like there's no actual benefit to this. All it really comes down to is getting better gear earlier and bragging rights which is only going to matter if you're trying to impress other raiders. I'm still invested in the story and characters but I should probably take a break too.

I've been playing a lot of Total Warhammer 3 and Dominions 5 as of late instead of FF14. I just can't find enjoyment with it anymore. The only reason I would still play is if my FC wants to do raids, but they haven't really been on either. I tried to do PF, but it almost always devolves to me leading the PF or explaining the same mechanics over and over again. I don't want to keep mentoring a bunch of retards I don't know since it's tiring. Sure, I can brag that I completed something, but it's not worth the pain that is PF. Besides, the few benefits you do obtain become obsolete real fast. Don't get me started about the player base again. I've ready gone off about it in the thread, even more so with my friends.

Same here, and my break has been great so far. I'd recommend you so the same.

The fun of it for me is doing the content. Not getting gear, not getting a number on a third party website. The gear and bragging all goes away next major patch cycle because you have to clear new thing.

I enjoyed the story, but I find the gameplay really drab. Unless you do savage, game's content is either a glorified point and click simulator, or very easy. Problem with savage is you need to put up with the community.

I hear they're rotating out Grimdark Sadwarcrimes Ishikawa next expansion. Too bad, I liked most of her writing. The guy replacing her I haven't heard much about other than rumblings of "I heart Matsuno". I know there are a lot of FF12/Ivalice fans out there. Mostly what I got from Matsuno-style writing was "Hi, what's your name?" "Hello PLAYER CHARACTER! Did you want to sit through fourteen paragraphs of worldbuilding BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH....what was your original question again?"

Well, Bozja is probably the closest you can get to Matsuno-style writing in FFXIV.

I'm not sure I want a Bozja-style mainline MSQ though.

The Ivalice raids were probably the worst representatives for Matsuno's work since they essentially crammed an entire game into a 3 patch questline. It's slightly better in the Bozja exposition-wise but that's not really saying much.

I mean, frankly, the story needs a rotation and a desperate reset. You already staved off the end of all existence, and most of the major players have already reached the conclusions of their arc. Focusing in on political struggles between existing factions, and troubles that emerge from the alliances no longer having any big-bads to unite against as well as the occupation of the Garleans looming, provides a lot of rich opportunity for things to do while just adding in more areas to explore on the map. Trying to do Shadowbringers But The Opposite would be really bad for pacing, seem uninspired, and probably just lead to burnout. I really hope the 13th gets finished off in the postgame sequence alone.

Ishikawa's issue was pacing. You go from a guy killing himself to space rabbits in the course of about an hour and a half. You go from monsters terrorizing the world and a father's son nearly eating him to ambien-incarnate Elpis in about an hour. And it was a problem in Shadowbringers, too - you go from stellar buildup in the beginning to one long, boring slog in the middle filled with two death fakeouts in the course of like 2 hours. What the story needs best right now is a reset, and proper buildup and pacing to the next big, dramatic thing - not more bishie-boy fanservice.

At the same time, I suspect that Endwalker's story got meddled with a lot by Yoshi himself given that weird 2-week delay. Endwalker has no real stones because no-one important dies and everything works out just fine despite -repeated- mentions of sacrifice and loss throughout the campaign; it feels disjointed. Everything about the sequence at the end where all of your friends get reanimated and hey more fanservice feels like it was shoehorned in. I almost wonder if she's getting pushed off of the lead over creative differences. What really stuck out was the cinematic roll of "remember everyone who died on this adventure" having to focus around the same 3 or 4 characters because since Heavensward's postgame, they lost their nerve.

IIRC it was confirmed that Krile is going to get more screentime in the future. If they would ever decide to start fresh and make a new scion team that would be a good opportunity. A few days back someone in my FC chat also pointed out that Azdaja is the perfect setup for 7.0 being Meracydia.
