Absolutely insane. In my 3 years playing this game, I've never seen a current raid boss receive a nerf. The balance team at SE is really dropping the ball.
This raid tier was a weird situation due to the delay allowing you to get the tome chest/pants piece gear earlier which I presume they accounted for, and the job balance is somewhat more scuffed then usual (especially tanks, but some dps are also kind of more scuffed than usual). The last time this happened was Alexander Midas, and that was with iirc mostly with Alexander 6 Savage which wasn't even a hard fight unless you were bad (people were dog shit at Blaster) and Gordias had nearly tanked the raid scene entirely at the time.

P8S died as fast as every other final tier boss since Creator, note that back then Midas didn't die for about two weeks, but if you weren't in the top groups you were going to take longer then usual with P8S because the dps check was nuts and bringing any of the off meta jobs made your run notably more difficult due to how tight the dps check was to even reach the 50% check. DPS checks too strong, and we got a tier with some more bite to it considering P5S wasn't even a total meme boss this time. Its a weird change of pace given how ho hum Savage has settled into since Creator pretty much. Although E8S was some shit in PF and that fight is probably more unpuggable than P8S will be in a few months even if it wasn't nerfed as P8S' problem was the dps check and not having a tight mechanics checks.

Nah they explicitly didn't account for extra gear with this tier. It's something they're considering down the line but they wanted to see how the staggered release was received before tuning around it.

Yay. We're back!
So how's everyone liking the new raid tier so far? I'm surprised how stupidly easy p6s was still.
That aside, idk wtf SE is doing with job balance now. Balance rn feels like the worst it's been in years.

It is, and based on what I've heard coming down the grapevine I think I know what's gone wrong and where I think the devs have lost the plot.

In short, SE has tried to balance damage in this game around I'd say three main factors: In role comparisons, raid utility (not dps buffs, those are part of damage), and ease of use (which is partially applied to in role see: Casters vs Ranged).

The problem in those latter 2 don't really matter anymore outside of really low end play, most jobs are relatively the same level of difficulty outside of autismo min maxing and melee in particular have a very easy time in P8S due to the bosses fat ass hitbox and the content is tuned so that defensive utility only matters at all in maybe Ultimates because tanks/healers have so many fucking tools for everything that having stuff like Passage of Arms or whatever just make it so your healer feels a little bit safer if they fuck up and it spares them a GCD maybe. So Pld having all this utility and their ranged phase means fucking nothing when Drk maintains uptime like its nothing anyway and Pld's utility only matters if you're fucking up pretty much.

They've effectively focused so much on everything being accessible and not overly stressing people out, even BLM is far more accessible now then in say SB, that those three pillars don't matter. This is why "Ranged Tax" is/was a thing, but uptime is so relatively free compared to HW/SB that Ranged Tax doesn't make anymore sense when melee can keep uptime quite easily and casters are easier to play then they used to be. I used to think "Ranged Tax" made sense and just Mch was too weak, but from what I've observed, it doesn't fucking matter in P8S. That's why Mch is so fucking bad.

Also I think the Trick Attack 2 minute adjustment was probably a mistake overall, as it makes jobs with good 1 minute windows feel bad to play because they can't hit their burst phase within much of anything raid buff wise every single rotation which is another reason Pld feels bad as they're a 1 minute burster while Gnb/Drk are a 2 minute burster. While I think streamlining burst windows into 60 second intervals was a good idea, I think the sole focus on 2 minute windows kind of sucks and that they need to bring in more 1 minute stuff again.

This is still better then HW, double ranged meta golem was hell cancer and nothing in EW is that bad, PLD was almost nonfunctioning in some fights, and BLM was fucking garbage for how much effort it demanded of you. EW as of now might be the worst balanced expansion since HW though from what I can see, which is unfortunate. Still better then a good amount of MMOs, but 14 has a fairly high standard for balance given its generally good history.

I do think nerfing the fight, assuming their story is true about it just being a miscalculated tuning in their arbitrary adjustment, is the better move then rebuffing everything in the short term but I think they need to really try to fix/rework whatever they need to. Pld has been hinted at potentially getting a mini rework, so that'll be interesting to see what they do with it.

Suffering through party finder advertising a run as a X mechanic prog party when in practice it's actually 2 mechanics behind.
Such is the way of pf. "Clear party" means "we're actually stuck on the last wall mech before enrage", etc.
That's why I keep a static lol. Too much party finder will drive a person to depravity.

Anyone else have difficulty sticking with a single job right now? I've been having trouble finding a main myself; currently stuck between Red Mage and Reaper due to their mixture between melee and ranged options. How are the rest of you doing?

I just jump between a tank, a healer, and a ranged DPS depending on what the role bonus is in the roulettes.

Although most of the time, I just continue playing a tank because it's very often tank in need.

I'm always a DPS, since my crew already has a dedicated Tank, and I suck at healing. That, and I personally find melee-using classes in general fit the character being a Warrior of Light/Darkness.

I find it hilariously ironic that leftists who play this game hate Misija so much as a character. She represents the perfect leftist archetype people on twitter are nowadays:

1. Both of them believe that past nations are required to be held accountable for actions that happened far in the past even if they would've had little power to stop them happening

2. Both of them push equality and equity even if the host nation views other races and classes as being inferior goyim to be used as disposable ammo for their cause.

3. Both of them use radically violent tactics to push their agenda no matter how idiotic and stupid it is.

4. Both of them also hate the nations they were born in.

You mean people paid enough attention to Bozja to care about any one of its characters?

Interesting. I've never encountered this myself. So far all I've seen is that she's been adopted in the "Omg why does FFXIV hate the women I simp for so much ;___;" club.

Godbert certainly makes them seethe despite having a very reasonable take.

It's fascinating the kinds of people the fanbase will fall head over heels for. I don't think anyone's simping for Tedji Adeledji, right? Right?
