Tried Island Sanctuary tonight, it was pretty alright. I love spreadsheet gaming nonsense so the workshop stuff will entertain me to some extent once I understand it, and it has Crafter/Gatherer materia so it kind of does something. It was more or less what I expected, effectively fluff content made for a niche audience and that it wouldn't produce much of anything outside of its own ecosystem.

It isn't probably what some people wanted, as the crop stuff seems pretty slow to produce anything with no option to speed it up. So it is eh as a farming simulator, but it is nice as one big piece of side fluff content you can just drop into whenever you want. I want to see how it fills out as their is a decent amount of time gating with the landmark construction.
Their is some rare animals to find for who like that stuff. The black sheep is probably the first one people have seen.

Did the MSQ Tuesday night and:
There is something creepy and uncomfortable about Zero’s hideout island or whatever you want to call it. The music that plays doesn’t help the unsettling nature about that place. 13th has been a pretty haunting experience so far given that you can see that the denizens are just regular people who have fully adjusted to their lives as aether addicted feeders completely forgetting what they were before that and forgetting what the ruins on islands are supposed to represent.

Might be why Zero’s abode is creepy for me, it’s the luminal space vibe and you know the edifice is recognizable as a place people either live in or reside in, but you don’t know what the purpose is or what it was used for in the first place. It’s the vagueness that draws attention to the reality that the thirteenth is essentially gone with nothing to remember about it or any kind of identifiable culture before it got flooded with dark.
This patch has been pretty great!. All the worldbuilding has been really amazing (the environments on that new dungeon? So good!), the music has been impeccable, the fights and mechanics have been fun and relatively interesting.

The only thing I wasn't so hyped about was the balance changes, but those are always hit or miss. But I'm loving all the 13th lore and little RPR tidbits dealing with Zero too.

I've been having fun on my island between raid queues and stuff. It seems great for killing time. I can imagine some people will get super into it.
I'm glad they're adding some more casual content, while simultaneously adding even more hardcore content soon w/ the criterion dungeons. Seems like there's something new for everyone.

Everyone already doing p5-8 and yet I remain stuck on the massive phoinix queues.

Maybe I need to check my timezone.

It's way easier to get fast queues when the tier is current. But yeah, maybe check when prime time is or even try server hopping.

did ishikawa have a hand in this because ouch.
I'm not too sure how much influence she had over it but she did do the Coerthas questline.

it was a very nice introduction to the fucked up world of the voidsent tbh, impressions of Zero were worse than when i finally met her and experienced her side of the story, magic crystal sealing powers aside i dont think she was that bad, the fact that she was Zenos' reaper buttbuddy feels less spergier than it could've been, new raids have been fun too, even with randys, i think ill grind for the glowey shit later

Island sanctuary seems pretty fun and I'm glad they're not rolling out like 50 ranks of content to grind through initially. Will be nice to just do my workshops for a few weeks, max it out, and then generate a nice drip of gatherer materia. Also shiny hunting is satisfying.

Phoinix is definitely the sort of content where you'll probably need to be on during peak hours. It's a notorious DF killer and I still saw groups wiping to it like 10 weeks into the tier. Probably less of a wall now that everyone is going in with 600+ item level but still pretty rough if you get a bunch of retards in your DF party.

I think the biggest issue is that Phionix feels ridiculously long for a normal trial. Especially if people start going down. And the mechanics aren't varied enough to have it carry all that time. You just need to remember fireplume tells.

It's probably my least favourite Asphodelos fight to return to. Just feels a bit too long.

Ya'll ready for savage?
Can't decide whether I wanna go as scholar or sage, but leaning sge since I have the new ex weapon for it.

I leveled my island to 10, this is what happens when troons close your favorite website.
I'm like half way through 8, I didn't see much of a point to bum rushing to 10 so I'm just playing it semi casually. Got all the main expansions except the last one, and I got all 3 workshops and 2 granaries.

The content is pretty chill and I think they struck a nice "casual fun no stress" balance with this with how hands off you can be and how quickly you can do all the stuff with little real effort. My only problems are you can't really customize anything at all really and the farming is too damn slow to be a proper farming simulator experience if that's what they wanted. 2 days per seed is just too long, I wish it was at least 1 day.

The supply and demand stuff is a nice incentive to not just monkey press the same items every time in the workshop, I had fun trying to find new efficiency bonus combos once I over supplied another combo. It isn't deep, but for what is effectively a casual brainless playground of timers that keeps me decently engaged as I was learning all the workshop items.

Also here is some very legitimate FFXIV music I just refound, SB has a lot of problems but this music was pretty cool and is probably the best of the FFXIV OST. My favorite part of Stormblood was when Big Chungus asked us what the meaning of life was as he soared through the cold air of space on his Chungus ship. I cri every tiem, even more then in ShB.

So I've decided to give EX4 a try. That fight is a fucking nightmare for healers.

The fight has damage coming at you very regularly, with phase 2 and 4 in particular being extremely fast paced, and with plenty of mechanics that snowball out of control if people are down.

Seen enrage at about 5%, but getting a PF group has been tricky. A lot of them don't have that consistency that's needed to beat the fight. The type of consistency where you don't keep hitting your allies with protean waves because you forgot to move.

It's a fun fight with the right people, but yeah... For some reason PF just can't do it consistently. Which is odd because the whole fight is timelined out in such a straightforward way.
Phase 4 is a bit of a clusterfuck lol, but once you get past that? You're mostly good. But for some reason, pf can't dodge worth a damn lol

I am enjoying the fact that one of the mechanics has been dubbed "Playstation" way more than a normal person should. It's very cute.

It sounds to me like PF has come full circle because this was exactly the case for stuff like Ravana and Thordan back in the day. Both fights are almost entirely timelined out with next to no unexpected mechanics and almost perfect consistency, especially in Ravana's case, and yet randos still managed to eat shit left and right.
