Decided to visit the Eorzea Aquarium advertised on the LunarCon hangouts page:

There's a lot more to see, but that's just some sample screenshots I took.

A lot of people are excessively narcissistic when it comes to their Warriors of Light, it's been this way ever since 2.0 launched, and it has never stopped being completely cringe.
Seeing how many people on the subr*ddit include "Well, MY warrior of light would NEVER..." I think people forget that they're playing a videogame, and think that they're actually the catgirl, and that the VA for Zenos actually burned down that orphanage.

There are two dj event with pride glamour so I went to see wtf cringe I could find, if there's a dj then whatever music they might be playing is not even able to be heard throughout a single fc hour yard

From mass debate Vtuber simps thread, apparently this is his character.
Old look and new look, do your rating.
[snip of the lizard]
First look is a bit generic (at least it's not the fucking casual outfit coffer stuff again), but I like the hair. Would look nicer with some glam to hide the jewelry and some white gloves, maybe spicing things up with a different skirt instead of the one in the cash shop set.

Second one is a downgrade. Hair is boring, outfit is better than what most boring bitches use for a glam, but still pretty generic. I actually like when stuff covers the eyes, it's really cool if it fits your WoL's aesthetic or just matches up with the glam, but this ain't the way. Would definitely fit in better with some dark yellow or dark-ish pink dye.

that lv3 fisher looks really ugly next to the other lv90 jobs, I really need to get around leveling that shit.
But fishing is so boring in FFXIV
Just do ocean fishing. You don't need gear or anything, just a rod with any amount of perception on it. Just hop on the boat, use the correct bait that someone says in chat (there's only three you need to stock), and collect your easy levels. A bad trip will get you like five levels minimum and a good trip will probably get you ten or more levels.

Class quests are the annoying part since a lot of the fish you have to catch have bounded catch rates that never go above like 20% no matter how good your stats are, but you don't have to do those if all you care about is levels.

That also applies only after 60. Before then, I'm pretty sure you can just buy the stuff.

We're day 3 of LunarCon and there is something that I was feeling while going to it that I couldn't describe as I was there. Now I can and everything just feels so hollow and narcissistic. Meet and greets are just wankfests for psuedo-celebrities, the panels like that fucking how to write fanfiction panel where that "woman" shoves her ugly oc into every slide, the open glamour showcase that had a line that stretched almost a full plot (that eventually went on for so long that Shenpai had to walk down the steps to do a quick showcase and you can hear her getting visibly irritated because people keep blocking her camera doing emotes with their UwU ocs), the irritating "TRANS RIGHTS" spam in shout, it just feels so hollow to me.

I have a theory that people don't actually enjoy these kinds of events. People just smile with gritted teeth and pretend to enjoy it while passively going along with whatever the crowd likes and enjoys so that they can get a sliver, a fucking tiny little taste, of fame or recognition. Because there's nothing to do here. Nothing. You just stand around staring at people all day long and nobody talks to each other in chat other than just "OMG YOU'RE SO CUTE!" "Your glam is so adorable!" "OMG SHIBA MOUNT!" "PUPPER!" or they try and stream snipe e-celebrities trying to get on camera. It's depressing. This is depression and desperation the event for me.

I truly envy the ignorance some of you guys keep yourselves in that it takes something like LunarCon to make you realize that there is a surprising number of people in XIV who are like this.

That being said, no, a lot of people do actually enjoy going to these events. Whether its to balk at everyone there and shit things up (like some of our people here are doing), or the actually mentally diseased who think it'll help them garner further attention just by being a part of a big event. Kind of like some of the people who attended Fan Fest and never stop wanking about it.

Oh I knew things were as bad as you described for a long time, I'm just making some, albeit incredibly redundant, observations I've made seeing this "convention" in person. I've never been to an event of this large scale before. I knew things were narcissistic, but things are aggressively narcissistic here at this convention. I'm just thinking out loud while I'm here. I'll go into detail on how the convention went and my experience with it and I'll take about what I liked (which there are some events I legitamately enjoyed) and didn't like. Haven't really been shitting it up either I've kept an extremely low profile and haven't glowed at all even though it's tempting because it takes one person to say "41%" to start a riot and break the serenity.

I like it when MMOs have these kinds of weirdos in them tbh. After decades of esports faggotry grinding all the fun out of everything in MMOs, I enjoy a game where the community's biggest sin is putting on faggy dance parties every now and then.

It's probably a shader quirk, but that pink looks really pretty with the Project Crystal shader, I promise my taste in colours is not that shit.
I might try the dark yellow tho, got a lot of stuff that I feel would go great with it.

I personally have an autistic backstory for mine that I came up with while bored at work. At that point you give your character a personality and grow attached. Do this a lot with characters I create in vidya. So I get why folks do this.

The problem really is that people tend to just turn their characters into self inserts instead of trying to give them a separate personality. Hell I know one girl in real life I occasionally play with whose WoL is just that, a self insert. She told me that she does so because it makes her feel pretty. Worst part is I found out she gives out lewds of her character and her son has seen them, among other things. Poor lad.

How long till she starts cosplaying as her own WOL and handing out those nudes, or having an OF.

The most ridiculous thing is all those PoC WOLs that you find on Twitter. Like people making their character half-Desi half-Mexican and thus has suffered from racism their whole life. It just makes no sense to me because those ethnicities mean nothing in canon.

Today Filipino Aymeric was making his rounds on Twitter too, with everyone falling over themselves to say his amazing it is for some reason.

I know, it's Twitter. But I honestly don't understand why these people keep plastering their rl stuff on their WoLs when they could just come up with a cool backstory for their character that fits with the lore.

lol, Twitter doesn't care about the game or the lore. They care about inserting themselves in Cool Thing (tm), and making sure other people are seeing them do Cool Thing (tm) and getting the corporate approved Cool Thing (tm) but with them in it. This message has been sponsored by Walmart.

I doubt she has the confidence to cosplay. But I do know she doesn't hesitate to hand out lewds and has had a few people with blogs take suggestive photos. It's creepy.

The fuck? That makes zero sense. In my character's deepest lore™️ she's a Duskwight who when younger had issues with Gridanians. Canonically Duskwights where shat on. Couple of ways you could go with discrimination without hamfisting but applying real world races is lazy and lame.
