I'm not super in the know of what exactly went down as this started on Tonberry and I generally keep to myself. I like to waste my gil on roulette pfs when they pop up and I'm bored so I've chatted to a few of the people who run these things or been around while they were stroking their epenis in front of others.

They basically do think they are super tough mob bosses.

For example I have seen them say something to the effect of, "If you see x running a PF on this server, tell them you know me and they will leave, I have compromising screen shots of them ERPing."

That and there is a group of rich people who run a ring and try and clean house of any casino/roulette that pops up because they run Materia.

I'll keep my eye out/try to find out more about what actually happened to cause this if it's actually something people think would be entertaining to read about.

Also when you're saying roulettes are you talking about an actual gambling thing or your daily dungeon roulettes. The former is stupid but maybe more understandable of a grift.

Sorry, should have specified it's a gambling thing.

The drama surrounding it is super dumb and these people have massive egos. Some of the casinos are set up pretty well in terms of housing design, I like checking them out. But a few I have gone to have had whores who whisper you every five minutes ("Hey cutie, would you like to go somewhere quieter?") it's really fucking annoying and weird.

Their "VIP Benefits" included a pricing plan of a flat 50 million gil payment for "lifetime" benefits as well, so yes, this is basically RMT but in a very roundabout fashion, as I've previously mentioned.

EDIT: Found a Google cache of the page, at the very least. They seem to have absolutely fucked the site layout in their haste to take it down, but the cached copy at least contains the text from the original page:

I've looked around at these RP venues but I've never really gotten into the casino/nightclub stuff because it just doesn't appeal. I do know that there's a very notable ERP-for-Gil 'presence' in a lot of them and I find it hilarious. I don't know if its just egotistical or raw sad-sack-ery to flat out charge for your online smut writing in an age where there's whole sites dedicated to original, free to read smut.

Allegedly some people make good money though so somebody likes it.

If I had to guess: It is more "immersive" to in-universe pay for what is effectively a whore in your fantasy world, I think some sad sacks actually enjoy the idea they're paying if the whore is good because it makes them feel like they're stuffing some $100 bills down some cat girl's g-string or some weird shit because they're too poor or chicken shit to do that irl. It is like you can pretend to be some rich guy in a suit and get some high class escort to walk around with for an evening if your close your eyes hard enough. RP is a weird fucking world, especially this sort of stuff. If you got a good show, people will depart with their monopoly dollars to go for a ride, and some are so desperate for such an experience they'll spend some real money for their monopoly money.

Someone was straight up taking commissions for modded NSFW gpose screen shots and advertising it in the PF.

I've noticed that too when I've checked out their site and when I clicked on their team page, it always showing up as errors. They were cleaning up house for a while now.
 
I remember one time that I was in a voice chat with my former static's healer. People were late to the raid so she decided to show me something and brought me to one of those venues. It was the most retarded shit I've seen but it wasn't explicit, she explained that only those who had the melding materia icon on their names were offering ERP services. Aside from that, the roleplay was SFW. But maybe some clubs aren't like that, I don't know and I don't wanna visit one ever again.

one night my friends and i were bored and server hopped to see the different erp “venues” happening. it was an experience
