Came back to see now glam is universal? So no more restrictions. My brain gets a headache at the idea of how wide the door has opened for me to customize my little menace. Saw digimon talk(always great) FF14 should do a crossover with digimon and have something like Apocalymon or Lucemon as a boss.

I remember the DDoS around the Shadowbringers launch because one WoW guy on 4chan was super buttmad about XIV having so much hype at the same time as BfA.

The problem seems to be compounded by SE going with service from one telecom company from Japan, NTT, though. Whenever the game is unplayable due to lag and massive packet loss its usually due to one of their nodes shitting the bed too.
Yeah this is a big part of it. If you're not in the pacific time zone, then there's effectively only one or two routes into NTT from the rest of the country and they're super easy to shut down.

Yeah, folks are working toward collecting old DoH/DoL glam to use. I also want to know if they are actually increasing the limit in the glamor dresser. With the advent of glamor having no restrictions anymore, 800 slots is just...not enough lol

If 14 ever did a crossover event with Digimon, I would be so fucking happy, you've no idea.

Glamor dresser limitations is something they specifically brought up as being difficult with the spaghetti code in the live letter, but they're working on addressing it and raising the number of slots, just not as their main priority. I remember when having 800/800 slots full caused some kind of issue so i do believe them that there are problems with the system that they need to invest time and effort into to unfuck.

I see lots of sentiment about how XIV is the only game that has problems with this but I don't play enough online games to know how true this is.
XIV has to be an anomaly among online games in the way the game's developers handle server outages. Out of the other online games I play, this is the only one where the servers are routinely getting DDoSed and getting players kicked out of gameplay. Funny enough, it is also one of the only games where compensation for server maintenance or downtime is practically nonexistent. I've played a couple of games with some insidiously Hebraic levels of grinding and monetization, and even those games would extend your subscription time or give you some kind of currency if the servers went down. The last time I remember getting any compensation from Square Enix was during the nigh-unplayable Endwalker launch, and that was nearly 5 years ago.

If I'm dropping $13 per month for the privilege to play on your servers, at least make them reliable. FF14's servers contantly go down and have a tick rate that is comparable to RuneScape, a game that is old enough to have kids that attend school.

Aw man, really??
Damn, now I have to fucking go through everything and figure out what to toss to make room for all the new glam I got. What a pain in my fucking ass.

Yeah, they were talking about it in the live letter segment about removing the glamour restrictions. They're focusing on fixing the buff limit first which you can argue is them prioritizing raidtrannies again since the buff limit overflowing is mainly a problem in content like TOP and DR Savage.

Sigh.
That's annoying when a team decides to give priority to the top 2% loud fags over the 98%. What the fuck is this? WoW?
:lossmanjack:

Man I thought they went over that one already when DRS was still relevant like... half a decade ago. Or did they look it over in EW because of DRS? Don't recall, whatever.
Main question is, why the fuck does the buff limit need looking over again?

TBH my suspicion is that it's just easier than figuring out how to deal with the spaghetti code that is the entire glamour dresser system, and hence their first stop while throwing the glamwhores a bone with the unlock in the meantime.

Im thinking about maybe buying the game but the way to purchase subscription is so fucking confusing. Also should I buy it on steam or on their website?

If you don't give two shits about modding (or making it harder to mod at least), Steam is the best way. If you already got your credit/debit cards set up on steam, you can basically log into mog station and pay your sub through Steam without much fuss, as well as anything you want from the online store.

Got back into the game recently and just have been fishing. Drama? Mods? Nah, ocean fishing time.

Fishing is wonderful, although, I've been more into botanist these days. The gathering and crafting jobs are very pleasant for when you want to just hang around in the game; I have a nice balance of dailies and gathering.
Ive been getting into them and they def are very comfy and fun! I have botanist fisher and carpenter all at 90 at the moment. Going to work on culinary next to be a master chef!

I hope they add more content for gathering jobs and crafting jobs soon! More fishing spots, more fishing voyages, etc, would be very fun.

I really enjoy the job quests dont you? Culinary is awesome. I've been leveling my botanist, fisher, and culinarian at once because I didnt want to spend all of my gil with npcs for the recipes. You're 100% set for an enjoyable culinary play through, enjoy!

Also, If making gil interests you culinary is where it's at.

Modding isn't too hard on Steam. Just download XIVLauncher, have the box for it being a Steam version checked in the launcher, and make sure Steam is open whenever you launch the game.
