Arksys bowed to Chinese faggots and changed an article in their in-game wiki.

I've been vaguely interested in fighting games for a long time but only finally picked one up a couple of weeks ago with the steam sale - Tekken 7. How much of a scrub opinion is it to think that the long juggle combos without any combo breaker potential for the person being juggled turn the game into a lame one-person rhythm game for the juggler until the combo is done? Other than frustration over that it's pretty fun. To my understanding I'm making things harder on myself by using Kazuya.

So there's currently some butthurt surrounding the new TMNT game. Seems like people are upset because a lot of April O'Neal's moveset is copied Street Fighter moves.

Here's the person's twitter page. I can't find the posted tweets because this person's twitter page is an absolute trip and it seems like twitter's functionality has gone to shit too. I refuse to make an account so you guys have fun. Also while I give props this person for no pronouns on it's twitter page it does have that they/them garbage on its deviantart.

I'm personally upset they made her look like a Stephen Universe character:

Seriously, I know Skullgirls traced some sprites. It's no big deal.

Those don't look traced, April's proportions would be out of whack each frame if they were actually traced(Chun-Li, Karen, Cammy, R.Mika have different body types). She's doing the same poses, but you literally can't claim ownership of a pose. They're also all sourced from 3-4 different characters so they honestly mixed it up enough for it to be at the very most a homage.

Big deal, imo. Using the same moves is not some horrendous plagiarism; Art of Fighting copied Ryu wholesale into Ryo, and the character still survives as his own thing. If this really mattered, Fei Long, Law and Liu Kang wouldn't exist for all being archetypes of Bruce Lee.

i was actually more impressed that the TMNT game actually looked good from the small footage showing the similar moves. Beat 'em ups like Streets of Rage 4 have really done well to transition into modern times.

Its a homage and even if it wasn't the majority of fighting games are built off homages and stereotypes. Shit Dan is beloved and look at how much of a shitpost he's been for years. It used to be considered funny and cool at that times though, so I dont expect Twitter to understand that.

Unless you're playing an anime/air dasher, its only so many ways you can throw a punch.

Outside of that I like the direction they took and even alternatively they could have gone the route of nick all stars and have her hitting shit with mics and cameras which would have also been fine. Would have been akin to the Simpsons beat em up if you like hitting things with a vacuum or jump rope for 6+ levels straight.

Speaking of the Simpsons, since both Simpsons Arcade and Alien vs Predator brawlers are both owned by Disney it's probably the easiest point in time to re-release both since Capcom and Konami are also looking to put out older games.

@Marissa Moira

After the last few years when arcade1up popped up the majority of the classic companies are starting to shit the bed with those weak ass cabs. A good few select classics come on those and they're easy to mod, but its a chore when it could just be put in collection with netplay. That would sell way more.

Shame you have to suck some Capcock to play AvP on the brand stick

From what I remember reading, the original character designer for Street Fighter 1 went to SNK and that's why Fatal Fury and Art of Fighting are similar to SF2. The guy even calls Fatal Fury "my SF2".

Closest you get to that are those shitty arcade cabinets that come pre-loaded with games. There's one that has Capcom's AVP and the Punisher and I think Cadillacs and Dinosaurs. I want to say that there's a Simpsons Arcade one.

April looks like shit, and why is she fighting anyway? Fucking SJW shit. This is supposed to be a callback to the old beat 'em ups, so it's just dumb.

If they really wanted a female playable character then dig through the old cartoon's and games' lore, there's plenty, no reason to fuck up April.

Anyway, I like fighting games, but lately they've been very iffy. Street Fighter V and Soulcalibur V were bad, so I kinda lost interest. They should remaster more old ones, Street Fighter II: Final Challengers is cool. In fact, TMNT: Tournament Fighters could use a remaster.

Ultra SF2 came out on the switch and last I heard there was a community version of TMNT being made. I'll look into it later

Am I just jaded or does this look like shit?
I dont think it looks awful but I like the hip hop aesthetics in general. The models are ok but something still feels off about them.

Also the game will have live commentary

Not clicking with the overall pacing of the game yet mostly do the the very long pauses between parries and hitstuns, but we'll have to see how that plays out.
