Played for a bit. So far it's fun, but it's going to take a while to adjust to it. Still trying to do Lariat as anti-air. Not sure about Tizoc not having any armored moves but oh well.
Edit: The English voice acting it quite cheesy. Probably on purpose.

Don't know if anyone will make a thread, maybe too few people to warrant one, but here are my first impressions after roughly 6 hours:

Story mode is just individual fights that you choose on a map. Probably interesting for people who are invested in the lore. But I only dabbled in it for a couple of minutes.
Apart from that there is an arcade mode, versus, time attack and survival. There is also a clone mode, like Tekken 8, where you train your AI and fight against other peoples clones.
Training, which goes over the basics and some sample combos for each character.

For MP ranked, casual and rooms. Netcode seems to be decent and everything is snappy with rematches and skippable and fast intros and outros.

There is a jukebox with music from the other Fatal Fury games and playlists. Color edit for each character is a nice feature. Although it might interfere with costumes / or their inclusion in the future.

The menus are quaint. Serviceable, I would say. Though, I have to see if some options are just hidden in a convoluted way or outright missing.

Can't comment on the balance since I ran into the same handful of characters. The REV system is a bit like the Drive meter from SF6. Without the nonsense offense and other bullshit. Not sure how I feel about the SPG thing. Seems everyone is putting it at the beginning of their health bar to maximize damage early. But so far the pace of the matches was nice. Had a lot of rounds that took 40-50ish seconds. Of course, if you are getting knowledge checked, it will be over sooner.

Only had one crash but disregarding that, the game runs great.

Cant say if it's a negative thing, have to put more time into the game, but something about the input reader is irking me the wrong way. But maybe I am just fucking up too often.

So far pretty promising, balance remains to be seen, but if they can keep a steady influx of new content and balancing patches on a regular basis this could turn out to be a great game for the foreseeable future.

This does make me hopeful for the future of the game. As gay as the soccer fucker and synth slut are, I do want this game to succeed.

I hope SNK doesn't take notes from Capcom and releases content at a snail's pace for some stupid reason. KOF and much less Fatal Fury or even heaven forbid, Garou have much less global hype and presence than Street Fighter so if they aren't on that shit immediately, the game is going to die a horrible death.

At the same time, I suppose my refusal to buy anything at launch is counterproductive to immediate success. I made the stupid mistake of pre-ordering Kingdom Hearts 3 back in the day. Never again.

But also, I like to see how the game shapes up instead of jumping in from the get-go.

Also I'm a cheap ho.

I ended up passing on city of wolves at least for now. Got p4 Ultimax instead. Seems like it has single player I can sink my teeth into and from what little I've played in trials and arcade I'm liking it's flow. Haven't tried online but wasn't really a motivator. The big discount and having a fresh fighting gane to smash some bots in was.

Just so you know P4A is part 1 of the story and Episode P4 is part 2. They didn't list them in chronological order.

Thanks for the headsup. I already confirmed the order of the story modes thankfully. But yes, I do wonder what the hell were they thinking with 2 titles that tell nothing about intended order of play.

I believe the original version of Ultimax didn't have the Arena storyline and was later dlc. The PS4/Steam version has all dlc and everything unlocked as well.
I only ever played the original PS3 arena and only ever played Ultimax when it was released to PS4.

KOF XV (the base version becuase fuck you) was on sale on steam the other day and I did a buy because it was cheap as shit.

Admittedly, I like to go back to 2002 Unlimited Match for my KOF drug addiction more than any other game unless I want to drool over Kim's pants in XIII. I gotta say, I fucking love dream match fanservice games like these. AFAIK, only KOF and Tekken have done so, yes?

I wish we'd get more dream match games. Understandably, there comes a point where it makes no sense because the roster would be a soccer team or a Musou game. But a nigger can dream.

I agree. I think it's long overdue for one. Do a MK Armageddon version where it's the entire roster.
I hope we get another dream match game but I think KoF will be the only recent one besides maybe a Tekken Tag 3 if Tekken 9 does amazing. SF6 is struggling to put out a character every few months, and its probably the largest fighting game.

EVO Japan has started, has been fun to watch.

Harada may be leaving Tekken. I'll be interested in the future to possibly hear how much recent problems were his fault, but it is sad that he'll be leaving. He seemed to be someone who tried to be involved in the community, who went to tournaments even when there wasn't an announcement. Although if he keeps posting long stories on Twitter, I'll be interested to hear how much of modern Tekken issues was from him. Although I guess he invited the hate, considering he and Murray act like PR.

Geebus, are all the English "speaking" EVO announcers black/trans/fags/degenerates?

Hot take but the inherently loud and ridiculous nature of blacks/inner city minorities fit in well with fgc culture when you have commentators like yipes, tasty steve, F-Word, etc. Pop-offs are fun and they definitely drum up the energy needed for them
