I get that. Personally I am neutral-negative to Andy and Joe being there considering Fatal Fury. Feels like they are playing it super safe - at the cost of actual Garou characters. I'd much rather have them than the old guard coming back yet again.

This feels a hell of a lot like SF3 getting cold feet and adding Akuma and eventually Chun-Li and would have eventually added Sagat, according to rumors, if we got a 4th version.

Say what you will SF3; at least Capcom didn't ax their new characters in favor of the old guard.

I will bat for Mr. Big for no reason other than some Art of Fighting love. And it's not Ryo again for once but...I have a feeling he's gonna be coming.
Mr. Big is a great choice, it's just that I personally don't care.

I'm surprised no one has posted this yet but Kain returns, faggier than ever.
https://youtube.com/watch?v=pnS6xKrg-swThat stage though is really pretty,

Also the DLC roadmap has been revealed.

Joe with glasses is not something I was expecting. I am actually super happy that Mr. Big is here. The guy has not been playable in any fighting game since....KOF XI on the PS2 so to see him return is very nice.

Edit: Okay but seriously, where are Freeman and Hokutomaru and the other Kim twin? Actually, where is Grant as well? I know Vox is supposed to be his successor but that doesn't mean you can't put him in the game if you got Kain.
I posted it in the FGC thread.
Online beta this weekend!

I finally got my brook FGC 2 adapter.
It worked with a bunch of different controllers I tried.
Games played
ACA RBS
Gleylancer PS5 version
TMNT Shredder's Revenge PS5
MOTW PS4

Controllers tried
Couldn't get any Switch controllers to work

PS4 worked

Xbox series worked

8Bitdo NGCD pad worked wireless & wired - Felt good wired but strange with the dongle, still playable.

Two different Xbox 360 arcade sticks, stock 360 & sanwa modded madcatz.

Random ass ancient USB pad worked.

Monoprice Dark Matter arcade stick

NEO•GEO ASP after some fiddling and pressing one of the buttons on the adapter itself

PS3 worked wired but acted strange, this particular pad is pretty worn and kinda wonky tho and I didn't want to dig out my good one to try

I couldn't find my PS2/USB adapter to try out but with that old ass windows USB pad working it might be worth a shot.

Hope this helps out anyone who is wondering about the FGC 2 adapter for PS5.

Question to any fans of The Last Blade here:

Is there a version of the first game that is actually *fully* translated? I got the Arcade Archives version and even if you set it to English, the opening text crawl is entirely in Japanese.

If I remember correctly that's just how it is.

I just figured I'd ask because I know for some other SNK games (notably Samurai Shodown V and Last Blade 2) there's cases where the arcade/Neo-Geo version has this sort of half-assed translation but then there's a specific home console port (original X-Box for SamShoV, Dreamcast for Last Blade 2) that actually has a full-assed translation with everything intact. I was hoping it would be a similar story for LB1.

You can try an emulator with the unibios and switch it around to verify.
But yeah, I think is just the one version.

Online beta this weekend!
I downloaded it and gave it a shot. I really don't like the cel shaded look they gave the character graphics. The only solo mode you can use is the tutorial, and only as Rock Howard. I'm a bit of an old hand with Terry so I was able to go into the online battles without too much issue. I generally only had to wait for about 45 seconds to a minute 30 for an opponent which, as I don't play online, I have no idea if that's good or bad, but it wasn't bothersome to me.

The game seems to play like a reskinned KOF (like Garou Mark Of The Wolves from 1999) which dissapoints me a bit. I always liked the unique "Fatal Fury" style of play with the plane switching and dodging. I wish they brought some of that back for this version. Oh well. Despite my misgivings I'll buy it since the Fatal Fury roster of characters has always been my favorite.

Oh, I noticed more than half my matches, so far, were against the new weeb bait character Preecha. She has some 8 or 9 hit command combo (I think that's what it is) that all of the players using her spam over and over...irritating.

So you are saying the sequel to Garou plays like Garou, how shocking.
I like the game, but I want to be able to bind faint cancels to a single button.
They have the same feel, I haven't played GMOTW enough recently to notice the subtle differences, if there are any. I'm not surprised, just slightly dissapointed (back in the GMOTW days too), that's all. I liked FF gameplay, I had hoped they'd bring at least some of it back. Otherwise, It seems solid. I like the characters, so I'll be buying it.

Preecha feels like a rush down character with a rekka.
Between her & Vox she's definitely the more interesting one.
The #1 thing I don't like about her is the default colour.
I hate that we are denied practice mode.
I understand it's a test of the online code & matchmaking but shit, let us lab a little at least in-between fights.

Meh, not having a practice mode is a minor inconvenience at worst. I'm an oldster who spent a lot of time playing arcade games starting in the mid 80s. When SF2 hit and its clones soon started to appear, it was standard practice to belly up to a new game cold, then get skullfucked by some zip with a bowl cut. If you took your ass rape like a man, and were nice about it, you might pick up some special move inputs from the guy. Or, you had to figure that shit out yourself accidentally, or wait for the movesets to come out in the latest Gamepro.

I've come to discover that this game has a control scheme choice like "Modern" in SF6. That might explain the combo spammers I've been facing.

It sounds like we're pretty close in age.
I just like having a lab mode I reckon.

My Brother In Christ...I beg of you... please don't call it "lab". I am well aware that I've gotten quite cranky in my old age and I'm certainly making more of this than is appropriate, but it's a fucking practice mode. You got a white "science" coat? You got a room with beakers 'n shit? You conjuring up the next bio weapon to foist upon your fellow citizens? No. you're just practicing. Calling it "lab time" sounds to me like something someone would say to not seem so faggy, when all they're doing is practicing fighting game shit... BTW, none of this is directed at you specifically Mr. Awe, it more a general rant I just had to get off my chest.

Practice modes are a good thing, especially these days as fighting games have gotten so combo heavy. It does help complete newbies get acquainted with a game they've never played before so they're not getting smoked by some bowl cutted zip.

They don't want practice mode and local VS in tests like these because of the fear of someone cracking it on PC so they can keep playing and they want people to test match making and the network instead of spending all their time in training mode. It's probably already cracked anyways.
They talked about a second test so hopefully that has training and offline VS.

Been also joining into the city of wolves fun. My biggest conclusion is I need a practice mode or at least some npc opponents. Rock is what I'm most decent at. I also should probably rebind both fists to r1 and both kicks to r2 to ease up the rev moves, way too many times I've smashed R2 when I needed kicks.

Outside of spamming the rev attack like a toddler when it's active I'm mostly just doing footsies, but my conversions are ass, so when I suddenly face somebody that knows a proper combo, it stings like hell.

Also, fuck the fireball spamming faggot.
