AFAIK she was a Mugen fan character that got adopted by SNK. But regardless her lore is inoffensive, just a bit confusing.
All of which is to say I'm glad SNK has refrained from pozzing
And that says a lot when one of the more obscure SamSho games has a tranny in it but both the wiki and the game makes it very clear that he's just a cross dresser.
Plus one of the weird dating games implies Genjuro from SamSho is also bi. The hilarity is you only discover this in one of the game's bad endings if the player decides to fag it out.

So let me get this straight: SNK announced 2 dlc characters that were immediately available in KoF 14's roster (again), and a re-release of a shitty crossover nobody asked for? 6 is the worst of the series because it drains Samurai Shodown's soul. The game removed all blood, the stages show how bad and outdated the sprities were at the time (even the newer ones), and the meta was all kinds of retarded thanks to Iroha and Mi-Na being OP (Mi-Na goes back to her Vanilla V bullshit). The Engrish hits new levels of retard. Iroha, despite her titties, is one of SNK's cancers (besides being OP in the game, she removed Nakoruru as the series mascot for a while). One interesting thing the game had was 2 different versions of Gaira because Korea isn't cool with a lot of Japanese shit (this happened in Soul Calibur when Mitusurugi was replaced with Arthur the Samurai).
You're thinking of 4 because 4 introduced fatalities. 3 Still had the slash finishers from the first two games.

I think it is unless you want to split hairs and talk about the final fight guys. But realistically I think it took them this long because Capcom's had a crossover game on the side covering almost every major release of a mainline game up until now. That and they probably saw it as more profitable to stick Ryu + Chun-Li in other games where they might not make any dought otherwise compared to letting someone stick their finger in the street fighter pie.

I never played Capcom vs SNK so I'm no expert, but what I can tell you as a witness was that the EVO crowd were extremely hyped about that reveal. The other two characters and the Fatal Fury reveals got lukewarm to no reaction at all, but the crossover game got the largest amount of cheering from that segment by far.
Probably because it's still the most highly-regarded fighting game series out there, and before SFV all the other franchises got slagged pretty hard as not being good enough or as fair. It's middle-of-the-road in complexity, people from all nationalities love it, and it almost always had an arcade cabinet for it at every venue.
MK1 can pander as hard as they want with rap music and skin recolourings, but at the end of the day people keep seeing an outspoken gay black man in a fursuit at the top sweeping the competition, and I'm fairly certain they'd rather watch a Smug or a Punk or a Dieminion instead.

It's not a very good game. Hitboxes were wonky (Plus might have fixed this, but in vanilla your attacks will whiff even at close range), the translation was awful even for meme standards, and stages were more out of place than MvC2's stages. Players whined about Goenitz at first until they realized how broken Geese and Zero were (if you knew how to use Zero, you won every match). Final bosses were never meant to be fully playable because if you used cheats to pick them, they were missing certain throws or mechanics like crouching for Red Arremer (the console versions never upgraded them to be playable because SNK Playmore was lazy with ports). The Capcom side wasn't bad, but SNK's was surprisingly lacking with the roster mostly being KoF/Fatal Fury characters. It has a few fans that play it on Fightcade thanks to Plus, but the majority probably cheered for it hoping it'll get hem a CvS3. I'll bet you a lot of fgc cucks cheering for this game were the same ones shitting on it 20 years ago. SNK made shitty fighters in the Playmore days.
While Perfect Legend and Sonic Fox have ruined every NRS tournament, the blame goes to Ed Boon and NRS for not doing a god damn thing to keep any kind of tournament scene alive. Boon keeps pandering to people who won't even buy a MK collection om the Switch.

Funny you mention that, they actually DID censor her tits in the American cover (also Athena is faded out), but left Tessa's tits exposed. Don't know why one is more offensive than the other.

Granted, they censored parts of the OG game too in international releases. I was watching the SBFP let's play of that game and they axed Mai's titty jiggles. I only mention this because the guys themselves brought it up.
In Capcom vs SNK 2, they censored the Genocide of Genocide Cutter and Genocide Heaven for Rugal's moveset.
Methinks it's less SNK and more Capcom because this only happens in the crossover games. And SNK appears to be pretty mellow.
WHICH MAKES ME REALLY WORRIED ABOUT MAI IN SF6. I'm not even a Mai fan; I just hate needless censoring especially when it kinda goes against the appeal / purpose of the character.
