I agree that the balance of characters is wack. SFV got the initial roster just right (the fact that they were all blonde is just bad luck lol). If I had my way with the 18 character roster it would be:

  • 6 World Warriors. Just get rid of Honda and Blanka and that would work.
  • 6 Newcomers. We're getting that already.
  • 6 Returning Characters. Cammy, Juri and Dee Jay are filling half of this. If I had my way the other 3 would be an SF3 character (Makoto), an SFV character (Necalli since we know Rashid is going to be DLC) and a long forgotten character (Eagle).

I'm more shocked Bison or any of the SF 2 bosses didn't make the cut. But I agree that Honda, Blanka and also Sim could have sat this one out or came back as DLC. People who play those characters tend to be weirdos.

Since they're doing a story mode I guess they give a shit about Bison actually being dead.

I'll defend Sim but I would've taken this chance to bring back Necro. I'm genuinely surprised at the complete lack of SF3 myself.
 
Gay controversy aside I still found strive pretty fun all things considered playing it for the first time during the site's downtime

depends, strive is still getting dlc/active support so I don't see Xrd replacing its player count rn, its sorta like when KoF 2002 got rollback, doesn't mean it will eat into XV's player base

I welcome based abraham lincon man G being the antagonist of SF6 but I really doubt he's gonna show up even in dlc

I'd rather see Necro since you get the stretch shit and electric shit. You also get an SF3 rep that this game desperately needs.

The big problem with Menat was that she was actually a bit of a dud. I need to find my source but she's in the bottom 5 of most played characters, if not only above FANG.

i'd argue that's because she's one of the most demanding characters in the game and not anything to do with people's opinion of her as a character. she requires crazy execution for her vt1 stuff, and even if you use vt2 she still requires good footsies and spacing, the ability to shift your playstyle on the fly depending on if you have orb or not, and situational awareness of where the orb is on screen and what you can do with it. i would fully expect her to be dumbed down in 6 but i'd really like to see her come back regardless.

Interesting that Blanka and Sim are the 2 World Warriors that are in bottom 10. Sim has always had low usage due to his niche and being dogshit in SF4 though.

I get what you're saying about Menats difficulty, which isn't a good thing for SF5's Unga gameplay.

I also can't say anything about SF6 being dumbed down since nobody has really talked about it. I think Capcom realized that all you need is a retard control scheme to make the journalists happy. The game has practically every mechanic since 3 though, so I'm slightly optimistic and am hopeful I get into the beta so I can find out for myself.

this is purely play rates though, right? i'd be curious to see one where people rate the characters outside of gameplay. i still don't think she'd score very high but it would definitely be higher than bottom 2 (:_(

There were so many cows in peak FGC. Mewtwoking is another one. I still remember that time he got catfished and he thought the girl he was sexting was dying of cancer and he got on a stream and cried.

Gllty is a POS but when they lifted LTG by their ass cheeks at the end of the video is hilarious.

The best we have now is Punk whining about stinky players, who got blown up for smelling like ass himself.
 
Seeing Gllty reminds me that trannies are the only notable "women" in the FGC. When the debate around trannies in sports comes up I'm surprised eSports never gets a mention. Women can't compete with men in eSports much better than physical sports, the sex divide couldn't be more obvious when looking at the two fields.

Speaking of eSports, Capcom seems to be going even harder in that direction with SF6. I really hope they don't sacrifice gameplay balance on the altar of hype.
 
So it seems like Jojo All Star Battle R is getting some attention even though it's a mixed bag (better framerate and new characters/stages, shitty online and kinda half-assed game).

Reminder that Gllty is a sexual predator. I'm expecting Capcom to ruin SF6 somehow with or without woke (day one disc-locked content, day-one microtransactions, bare bones game, etc.).
