Anyone here play fighting games? (Before you say it, no, smash brothers is not a real fighting game)

I recently got rid of my Hexbox (as I'm moving to a new apartment and my new TV is literally a 15" Magnavox from the early 90s), so I bought up all the fighters on Steam as they went on sale during the summer. This means that I finally have a non-terrible way to play fighters, but no one besides randoms and a couple IRL buds to play with. So, I'd rather play with guys from here s̶o̶ ̶I̶ ̶c̶a̶n̶ ̶p̶u̶b̶l̶i̶c̶a̶l̶l̶y̶ ̶r̶a̶g̶ ̶o̶n̶ ̶y̶o̶u so we can improve as a group. It's kinda a niche-y (nietzsche?) genre so I don't expect much response but if we could have a CWCki FGC, it'd be something. Possibly something horribly autistic. But it'd probably be fun regardless. Can't be spergier than Gmod, after all :tomgirl:.

Not much of a fighting game fan but I do love playing Soul Calibur. Also wish I had a working copy of Def Jam: Fight for NY.
 
I'm in no way professional but I love:

Soul Calibur(except V)
Tekken(5 and 6)
Street Fighter(Alpha 3 being my favorite)
Guilty Gear(all of them!)
King of Fighters(all of them!!)
Samurai Spirits/Showdown
Dead or Alive

And yup, I play them to blow off some steam on what I'm doing. They're awesome in relieving stress.

I played Virtua Fighter when I was younger.
 
Used to play fighting games a lot for about a year or so, but now I don't play them as often as I used to. I usually just play Street Fighter 2/4 and Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

Though I couldn't make a decent combo if my life depended on it.

er dya think i should throw a link to the pc version of guilty gear XX in the OP? it's free, non-steam and has good netcode.
 
Smash brothers Melee gets played at evo, so I'd say that's pretty legit. You started a thread on fighting games, let people talk about about them, even the one's you don't like.

For me, I like them occasionally, but have never been particularly good at them. I have most of Capcom's Saturn fighters (Vampire Saviour, SF Zero 3, Xmen v SF) and the original Soul Calibur is one of my all time favorite games.

It has a competitive scene. It's a party game on the outside but it really has deep gameplay mechanics, especially Melee. You look at it and say "oh, it's just a child's game, I'm much too mature for that" and don't even fucking sit down and do your research beyond googling "smash bros is" and taking the first definition as fact.

:story: The only one here showing any level of autism here is you. You moved to exclude what is accepted as a fighting game as irrelevant and immediately become defensive when your opinion is questioned.

No you sperg Mario party is an intense physical fighting game with a deep lore and mythos. It's essentially injustice but everyone eats Italian food.
