Honestly I should probably be crucified for wasting so much time on this series but I love it so much man. You could probably ask me about why I like literally any design from the "love" tier up and I could write paragraphs praising and explaining why.
You have some good designs in your love tier, but what I wanna know is why do you hate Shaymin-Sky form? I have no strong feelings on it either way, but it stuck out among the designs at the bottom of the list.

There is too many for me to count, but if I had to chose only one, it would probably be Golduck. It is a very good jack of all trades pokemon with surprising uses, and is found in literally every single region(That includes Orre if you count the shadow variant). That means that it is a no-nonsense choice for literally every single playthrough, if there isn't a specific Water type I have in mind.
On a more sentimental level, I believe Psyduck was the very first pokemon I caught in Gen 4 after a long break from the games. I still have it and it's been level 100 for a long time, I make sure to catch one every time I start a new game.

I've always had a visceral dislike of it that I can't really place. I think it's mainly because of a few things:
  • I really really love Shaymin Land Forme, it's one of the only mythicals I truly like (the only other two I immediately remember being fond of are Deoxys and Marshadow, and the former is arguably a legendary now due to ORAS). Sky forme is almost the polar opposite of its appeal in terms of energy (instead of cute and meek it's "cool" and "strong")...
  • ...and it also just looks fucking bad. It's like someone stole a Sonic OC's face and slapped it onto some weird furry's original species.
  • It's very strongly anthropomorphized for no good reason- outside of its relatively vague inspiration and body shape, all it has of note are patterns on its feet that look like boots alongside a built-in anime hair tuft and scarf , which really irks me in a way that I can't rightly put into words.
  • All of the above make me extra bitter because Gamefreak gave a great design an alternate form... and the alternate form looks like shit.
My dislike of it has simmered down a little in recent years because the new dexes have made Sky forme look competent in comparison, but I've just never liked the thing whatsoever and it's one of very few mon that I can't in-depthly describe my distaste for. This bullet list is pretty much all I've got, and most of it still boils down to "it's kind of gross-looking".

I looked at a chart like others used and didn't realize how many new, shitty Pokemon there are. Oh man, they are REALLY bad, worse than I thought. I could hardly decide on the lesser evil among my options for "favorite" the further I went, but here's what I scrounged up:

Just ONE gen 1 Pokemon in the favorites section? I guess I'm not much better in the opposite direction, I picked just one that wasn't gen 1 or 2 among my favorites (and it's kinda cheating I guess, Mimikyu is just creepypasta Pikachu, and Sylveon was runner-up for best Fairy-type, which is gen 1 adjacent).

Gen 1 has a lot of really good designs, but not many of those designs are as insanely good as some of the stuff that comes after. I really love Sandslash and Sandshrew + other designs like Pikachu, Abra, Jolteon, Victreebel, Tentacruel, Doduo, etc... but I don't think they're as pants-shittingly awesome as a few megas and not as plainly well-made as mon like Cradily, Haxorus, Archeops or Altaria. They're very very good designs that have just kind of been overshadowed as more intense favorites have come along later.

Haha wow, our tastes are really different. Nice to see your take, even if not making a dream team and picking absolute favorites is totally cheating. :P

It does look like an out-of-place furry/Sonic OC but it's bigger sin in my eyes is having nothing to do with Shaymin-Land's concept. What does this new closed species that furfags would be fighting over have to do with the concept of gratitude or cleansing pollution? The closest they've gotten to a justification is a dex entry that said feelings of gratitude allow it to fly.

Nu-Pokemon tend to look like the bootleg App Store Pokemon knockoffs. There have been multiple Pokemon designers for years now, but the "too many cooks" situation is getting impossible to ignore and I really miss the cohesion from the previous gens.

Well, this is a tough one:

Personally, I am a bit of a Charizard fan; what can I say? Fire dragon design looks pretty great. I do admit that it gets pretty annoying that it's shoved into basically everything Pokemon-related, though.

Also a fan of Blastoise and Zapdos; those two were the cornerstones of my old team back in Pokémon Blue.

Bit of a dark horse, but Linoone is one that I like; mostly because it was the first shiny that I caught legitimately. Unfortunately, my cousin stole my copy of Sapphire that had it and deleted it, so...

Aggron, Luxray, and Infernape are also some of my favorites; had all three on my Sinnoh team in Pearl, which was nice.

Groudon was another favorite; his Primal Reversion was great.

I wish I could be half the stoic that Snorlax is. Just chilling all day and then proceed to munch down an entire forest

I wonder why I never replied to this. Those are decent Pokemon and all, but they just kinda blend in. Haxorus in particular looks like a generic dungeon enemy in some Final Fantasy clone you'd kill in hordes and see later with a palette change and higher stats. There's not a lot like Jolteon or Pikachu.

Even the weakest early designs that people point to like Muk or Magnemite are executed very well. Nintendo tried stuff like "an object becomes a monster" many times but the dumb sand castle or keyring just doesn't hit the same. Could be chalked up to nostalgia but I don't know about that.

I think part of the problem is that the first 2 gens have the advantage of a better, more unique and interesting art style for their illustrations. That might be giving them an edge in my head over the flat and boring look they use from gen 3 onward.

I can't remember why I didn't include everything, probably laziness lol. But yeah, it's fun to see how different Pokemon preferences can be.

Charizard and Salamence tied for the longest time, but as a big nerd for tigers Incineroar also won me over. I pretty much split between those three, it's just pondering which is my one true favorite.
