"hey buddy, still alive? and thanks friend. see you again."

Thinking about the most narratively satisfying final boss and I gotta give it to Sephiroth. Of course he is pretty easy as an adult. Which is a shame.
For one, the final battle in Cloud's mind (?) is a pretty good final touch. But also, and I do talk about this a lot but I think it's underappreciated, it was easily the most effective Revenge Motive in a game for me.
I mean he kills Aeries and not only do you get vengeful closure for killing him back, the game wisely makes killing him cathartic by not letting her die in vain if you do. The game was always going to have a Deus Ex Machina ending but at least they made it meaningful to you and the characters like that.

The final creek crossing at the end of Oregon Trail. In 3rd or 4th grade, I made it all the way to the creek portion at the end, & this jealous little bitch-boy turned off the power in the computer lab. Half the class was watching, he was jealous. He got told off by the computer lab aide for being a jealous snot, (schools were still ok, then.) He had to miss break, & clean classrooms during it.

Never played Oregon Trail again, until decades later, on some simulator site for a few minutes. One day I’ll play straight thru, & beat that creek portion, then finally beat the game. It’ll be my third time playing, next time I play.

Can't go wrong with Lanius.

Also MadWorld. You kill dude after dude thinking to yourself whos it gonna be you'll face in the Number 1 spot. You go up against a giant frankenstein monster, an iron skinned Yokozuna, even a fucking alien, and then when you reach the end, the final challenge is... the dumb ass pimp that got his ass kicked by his hoe throughout the entire game.

Its a great reveal and it makes a lot of sense really. He was able to endure all that punishment, literally getting blown to bits and having his head torn off, and dudes still alive.
One of my favorite moments is when they confirm hes just a dude in blackface. "Why do they call him the Black Baron? He's not even black!"

The last colossus from Shadow of the Colossus.

You start off far away from him and having to traverse through tunnels and taking cover from his energy blasts that cause huge explosions. The trek to him is half the fight.

When you finally reach him, you find his feet are bolted to the ground. And that he wears a “dress” made of stone with a bunch of patterns sculpted into it. It’s like you’re climbing a living, moving and breathing tower.

You get to his back, stab it, he reaches around to grab you, you cling onto his hand, climb up his arm, stab his upper arm, jump to his other hand trying to grab you, stab it and finally shoot an arrow into his shoulder to force him to grab it. Allowing you passage to his head.

From atop his head, you get a great view of the Forbidden Lands, all the lights coming down from the sky shining down on all the other colossi you killed and the Shrine of Worship where your beloved lies.

You realize your foe has been watching as you killed it’s brethren one by one, and that due to him being unable to move, all he could do was watch from afar and try his best to stop you from getting to him.

You came too far to stop what you’re doing though! You stab his head over and over until he finally dies. Due to his feet being encased in stone however, his body crumples back and he dies standing.

It really is amazing how a literal change in perspective makes an intimidating and powerful looking creature look so vulnerable and helpless. Truly a testament to fantastic boss and level design.

Wind Waker.

I mean, mechanically it's pretty ordinary, but as a piece of story telling, it's superb. Ganondorf is nuts, the whole section is properly dark, and also really sad. You actually feel sorry for Ganondorf. Oh, and it's super violent at the end too. Extraordinary.
So, I was going to say this at first.

Gruntilda in Banjo-Kazooie. You are forced to show proficiency will every skill learned in the game. And there are no bullshit new skills thrown at you that are only useful for the final fight.
But then this really reminded me that it was the better fight. So I decided to go with this one even though both are great.

Then I saw this:

And realized that we're all massive faggots.

Really, the last parts of Dragon's Dogma were amazing, not that the rest of the game wasn't, but right until the Dragon battle i was under the impression the story was made barebones so that the stellar gameplay and battle system took all the spotlight

Didnt see the twist coming at all, and the build up to the final boss was nervewrecking to me

Had to post this because i just finished a second playthrough after months of not touching the game.

Holy. Fucking. Shit.

Slave Knight Gael from Dark Souls 3. The atmosphere, the music, that epic 3rd stage. It's perfect. Plus the idea of the two last people alive fighting to the death is just peak Souls.

Liquid Ocelot from MGS4. I love how it acts as a homage to the previous games, and the fact it's two dudes just punching each other until one of them runs out of will.

Kessler from Infamous. One of my favorite plot twists combined with cool superhero powers.
