I got the copy a day early, Australian privledges, and so far I finished the prologue. I went outside for about 5 mins, scavenged in a house for supplies and shot highway men. Then I went to an abandoned honey farm and got mauled by a brown grizzly bear. 10/10 survival.

So what's the story so far?

I haven't quite done the story mission with the exception of Bean's mission, but I will give you the load down.

Its set 17 years in the future of the Resist Ending. Carmina, the Rye Family's Daughter had found your boss and asked him to help build your community back up, you're the Captain of Security on a train going to Hope Country, but then the Highway Men attack and the Twins show up and beat your bosses ass up, along with a cowardly officer. You enter Hope Country and get introduced to the People of Prosperity and they tell you that they need to get Professionals all over the map. You need to scavenge around and destroy outposts so you upgrade a lot of things to get the most of the game and IIRC they will take you off the map into other locations around America.

CONFIRMED LIVING:

SHARKY
HURK JR
JEROME
ALL THE RYES
JOSEPH SEED

CONFIRMED FUCKING DEAD:
BOOMER
CHEESEBURGER

I was surprised by a couple of extra details as well:

Turns out that the Highwayman are a national group and the Twins aren't the head honchos, but they run the division around Hope County. They often enslave other communities to work in factories, mines or other hard labour camps. They send out supply drops fequently and seem very well established.

Also it seems that the map suggests that the magnetic poles have shifted because a lot of the maps in the area are turned upside down. Also, small feature, but people hesitate when saying compass directions.

Edens Gate is still around, as New Eden. you'll see their members just prowling around at night killing Highwaymen, but I haven't really interacted with them, nor know much about them. Text says that they have given up on technology and are living on the land with basic tools up north.

Also you'll notice very quickly that animals are so much more vivid than their natural counterparts, I assume this is something to do with choice of design, because you will see clown-colored turkeys and a FUCK TON of white deer. These white deer are absolutely everywhere. In fact there are a shit ton of animals just wandering around in these pink flowers that had superbloomed all over the place. Also On the outskirts of the map you can see dead, trees where the superbloom hasn't hit yet.

Also enjoy this letter from Bean its fucking hilarious, also the location it was found was "DICK'S HOLE"

They killed the fucking bear off? That's just cruel...

on a totally unrelated note: montana's population is over 90% white in real life, even though in far cry 5 (and probably new dawn) it makes it seem like it's 50% white and 50% non-white... just thought i'd bring that up

That's a common thing in ubisoft games though. The Division had a population of 50% white 50% black/hispanic islam converts, didn't stop their random conversations diverging into things against islams teachings, like how drunk they got the other night. While the entire prison faction was almost entirely black, led by a insane black woman doing the most cliched ghetto black power speech while gutting people.

The more they try to look like they inclusive and diverse, the more they expose they think of other races in the stereotypes you see from people who grew up in gated communities.

So I've been playing New Dawn and it's a lot of fun. It feels very much like 5 though so if you hated that game this won't change your mind but if you liked 5 you'll like this. The story is about as generic as it gets so don't be expecting anything awesome unless there's a big change later in the game. The villains aren't bad but they are very boring, basically lady Vaas with all of the charisma sucked out. With that said I do really like the Highwayman which are the gang you're fighting. They're fairly generic but I like them more than the Peggies and their sense of style is pretty unique. It's super easy to tell the difference at a glance between them and civilians because they really stand out even from a distance.

The way the game handles weapons is a mixed bag. Because all of the weapons are slapped together you have no real customization options. If in 5 you used a silenced AR-C with a reflex scope well tough shit, you get an unsilenced one with a marksman scope. This is actually kind of neat because it forces you to mix things up. I've been using weapons and strategies I've never used before because I have to improvise and make due with what I have. That's cool. But I could see some people hating it. I don't like the tiered weapon system however. There are four levels of weapons and enemies. Using a first tier weapon against a third or forth level enemy is basically pointless, just run away because you could empty ten full mags directly into their face and they'll just yawn. It also works the other way around and a level three weapon will pulverize a level one enemy. It doesn't really make any sense and it's kind of annoying when enemies end up being too easy or too hard because of a level differential. It's not as big of a deal as it sounds though because you'll usually be fighting enemies the same level as your weapon, it's just annoying sometimes.

Oh yeah, and for some bizarre reason you don't start with binoculars and have to unlock them which is a pain in the fucking ass. Your first three unlocks will likely be the weapon slots and the stealth takedown so you'll likely go hours without it. You can unlock the dog early though so I recommend you make that a priority if you like to stealth outposts. Speaking of companions they're all pretty meh so far and you only get one at a time although I haven't unlocked Hurk yet. Another small complaint is that you don't autoloot enemies after a stealth kill which is annoying. As far as I can tell there's no perk to do it either.

All and all I'm having a blast with it so if you liked 5 then it's a solid buy.

Edit: Here's a tip, kill every fucking wolf you see. Their skins are one of the only reliable sources of titanium which you need for level two and three guns, otherwise you'll hit the higher tiers and won't be able to actually craft anything so you'll be super pissed. You'll need about 4-6 wolf skins worth of titanium per gun.

I personally think the gameplay, map and such and so on are fine, standard Far Cry fare, all pretty nice actually, but the writing is just completely execrable. 100% pure clownworld faggotry at every possible level. It almost makes Watch Dogs 2, to this point Ubi’s most obnoxiously written game that I’ve played, seem like it was written by a John Bircher in comparison.

Far Cry 5 had this really weird disconnect between the super serious main storyline and the wacky side missions.

But Far Cry 6 has this weird disconnect where they want you to believe Yara is somehow this nation that was "stuck in time" in the 1960's yet somehow managed to pick up on all the modern slang and memes and woke culture of the modern age.

Trannies ruin everything they touch

The scene where your character is made an accessory to murdering an unarmed, surrendered woman after she commits the heinous crime of pointedly misgendering someone really pushed it over the line from being written by degenerate virtue signalers to agenda driven propaganda. Great job Ubi, very cool.

The scene is jarring as fuck, especially since I saved that region for last. I've literally killed hundreds if not thousands at this point, specifically killed his top General by placing a grenade in his mouth, killed his top Admiral and paraded her hung body over her fort and killed his biggest financial contributor after he made a deal to live.

But then we get to his propaganda manager and it's "Don't kill her, it's not worth it!" until she dares to use the wrong pronouns?

I like how it’s literally a plot point that trannies co-opt everything and make it all about them. At one point all the main characters are talking about what they’re going to do if they manage to oust Castillo and Paolo, a FTM, says that “when your revolution is over, mine is just beginning” and everyone oohs and ahhs over their stunning bravery.

And there’s not a chance in hell that a show featuring a drag queen is somehow the #1 show in the country. But I guess every youth in Yara is just that woke.

It's funny, the rebels (from the rich girl to the troon and the old communist) all look like the type of character that the CIA would use if they wanted to fuck up a foreign country.

Must be all the USB keys smuggled over from Miami.

lol I didn't pick up a single one of them in either of my playthroughs. Didn't even realize they were things until a week ago and I saw some ad for a map to them.

Wasn't that the what was going on? Juan was working with the CIA to get Viviro I thought.
