FF.net bans attack/hate author fics, yet a03 has some.

I honestly dislike omegaverse fanfics, mainly that is what the PXZ section is plagued with. FF.net long ago use to have list and interaction fanfics that were later banned.

With Scripts, I feel that the author may find those easier to write or that they assume comedy works if you use scripts.

AO3 being so chill and Safe For All Writers is a double-edged sword. Thank fuck for AO3 savior.
 
I don't remember the title and it's impossible to find but does anyone else remember an old fanfiction about a sassy southern black woman who goes to medieval France Back to the Future style and has a romantic relationship with Frollo? It was.... really special.

I'd like to open the floor to discuss a personal least favorite fic type of mine: Mouthpiece fic.

In the old days, it was simply the characters in the fic projecting the author's personal views on the canon, a certain ship, a least favorite character, etc. Usually in the form of everyone playing cheerleader for the OTP or forming an army to turn against the hated character. I've seen Cori Falls mentioned here and she was good at that, but we also have Zutara fics that treat Aang the same way. The best example is Stormbenders.

These days, though, we have Tumblr fics. Basically the author's pet issue du jour soaked in Tumblrese and social justice buzzwords, resulting in cartoon ponies or video game characters lecturing the reader on compulsory heterosexuality or male privilege or autism or what have you.
 
if people wanna write fanfiction about fictional characters, go ahead, that's not my business

what irks me personally are the ones about actual people (looking at you bts fandom)
 
I came across a horrific SU fanfiction while I was watching Brendaniel videos once, called "Pearl's Nasty Clam". I'm just going to say that him reading the actual fanfic failed to make the experience more therapeutic. The only sypnosis I'll give you is that horrendous hygiene comes into play throughout the entire story, female hygiene to be more exact. You know. I love browsing people who offer Beta reading services to writers. Some I came across are good writers and seem polite in helping other writers improve. Others thing they are god's gift with poor works and think they can help others.

Honestly I think the Mouthpiece/Soapbox fics can be some of the worst.

At least the shameless fetish shit knows exactly what it is and doesn't try to pretend otherwise, and at the very least can still be fun to laugh at. Mouthpiece/Soapbox fics however are usually boring as shi t because the writers treat their shitty fics like serious business as they spout (usually) misinformation to justify their fetishes, seemingly oblivious to the fact that no one wants to read about characters stopping mid-makeout to clarify that the author thinks Thanksgiving is white supremacy or some bullshit.

The only time Mouthpiece/Soapbox shit is entertaining is when they are met with a critic who disagrees and the writer goes apeshit, but sadly those are in short supply.

Ditto, or when the character ranting is canonically a soapbox sadie like Lisa Simpson or Hayley on American Dad and the writer's just writing them IC. Lisa would lecture the rest of the cast on the evils of wearing fur coats, but none of the Chan Clan kids would try to feed their siblings a health-food breakfast while going on about how they don't want them to get sick and die from high cholesterol.
