Apple has shut down Facebook’s ability to distribute internal iOS apps, from early releases of the Facebook app to basic tools like a lunch menu. A person familiar with the situation tells The Verge that early versions of Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and other pre-release “dogfood” (beta) apps have stopped working, as have other employee apps, like one for transportation. Facebook is treating this as a critical problem internally, we’re told, as the affected apps simply don’t launch on employees’ phones anymore.

The shutdown comes in response to news that Facebook has been using Apple’s program for internal app distribution to track teenage customers with a “research” app.

That app, revealed yesterday by TechCrunch, was distributed outside of the App Store using Apple’s enterprise program, which allows developers to use special certificates to install more powerful apps onto iPhones. Those apps are only supposed to be used by a company’s employees, however, and Facebook had been distributing its tracking app to customers. Facebook later said it would shut down the app.

This poses a huge issue for Facebook. While Apple provides other tools a company can use to install apps internally, Apple’s enterprise program is the main solution for widely distributing internal apps and services. In an email, a Facebook spokesperson said “I can confirm that this affects our internal apps.”

In a statement given to Recode, Apple said that Facebook was in “clear breach of their agreement with Apple.” Any developer that breaches that agreement, Apple said, has their distribution certificates revoked, “which is what we did in this case to protect our users and their data.” Apple declined to comment on shutting down all of Facebook’s internal apps in an email to The Verge.

Revoking a certificate not only stops apps from being distributed on iOS, but it also stops apps from working. And because internal apps by the same organization or developer may be connected to a single certificate, it can lead to immense headaches like the one Facebook now finds itself in where a multitude of internal apps have been shut down.

Apple and Facebook have already been bickering over privacy, but this is the first instance of Apple taking an action that directly shuts down some of Facebook’s activities. Last March, Apple CEO Tim Cook criticized Facebook’s handling of the Cambridge Analytica data sharing scandal, saying, “I wouldn’t be in this situation” if he were running the company. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg later said the comments were “extremely glib” and spoke of Apple as a company that “work hard to charge you more.”

As long as they ban the far left "don't fly on airplanes because they pump nitrogen into the air instead of oxygen in order to lower the costs" types too.

Anybody who claims to be libertarian and supports this shit ban is an undercover commie.

Seriously. If people want to be stupid, fucking let them. What is the worst that can happen, they remove themselves from the gene pool. Or do all you motherfuckers miss Steve Jobs that much?

Here's a fun thought: germ theory was a "crazy fringe theory". Flint's water being full of lead was a "conspiracy theory".

We do not have everything absolutely right. People need to be able to look at alternatives to the accepted shit, because sometimes the accepted shit is wrong. And if their alternative is also wrong, it only helps if it's visible to be debunked.

For example, remember back when Dr. Fraudster first cooked up his study about the link between vaccines and autism? What if the response to those was to censor him and ban him from everywhere? I'd probably think he was onto something. But, he was allowed to be visible with his shitty study and data, and know there is absolutely no link between vaccines and autism, at least, no study to date has shown one to exist.

I'm not sure forcing fringe wackos underground will help things. As soon as you push something off a major platform like facebook twitter and google, then you've isolated it from the general population and allowed it to become more of an echochamber, possibly making them go even more extreme.
Extreme anti-vax is just bug-chasing, you normie drunk.

The Breast is not sexual, people can orgasm in many different ways, even brushing the fingers across the skin in the right way can induce a feel of sexual gratification. Men can also sexually stimulated from their nipples too,
Female nipples are a common erogenous zone. Male nipples are not. Now common doesn't mean universal, random people have random things that work on them. But that is generally true.

To me, there's no good reason why men can go topless and not women. It's not as if men can't have pendulous saggy boobs. And nobody would be comfortable with a man rubbing his exposed nipples in public regardless of whether he gets sexual enjoyment from it. It's just one of those random ass things that we as a society ended up with.

I would assume it's all related to the puritanical values that shaped the US. Female breasts are pleasing to look at. If it feels good, it must be bad. Thus female breasts are bad. A hairy man boob isn't pleasing to look at, so, no problem.

I found this argument interesting because I ran into the Breast Feeding Moms community recently. They swear up and down the videos they post are educational and how breast feeding is simply natural and not sexual, and then they uploaded videos of the themselves naked and orgasming during breastfeeding. So is the breast sexual or not?

Most of her stuff has been taken down, but her tamer videos are still out there.

Considering the nipple is an erogenous zone, it's easy for the brain to confuse sex with breastfeeding and why a lot of women feel shame when they breastfeed.

It's pretty fucked up, but considering adult breastfeeding is pretty popular, I'd say that that breasts can absolutely be sexual, even unintentionally.

Yeah, I can imagine that gets confusing. Am I doing the right thing for the baby, or am I a fucking sicko for enjoying this? Luckily I understand that confusion is almost immediately resolved when the baby begins teething and all semblance of pleasure vanishes.

A few months ago I came across a video of a woman who was porn streamer, she had just had a baby, so to make money she had started using a breast pump for milk for the baby bottle later, but at the same time orgasming on camera. That was some impressive multitasking.

Nice choice of words :like:

OK, this is tin foil territory, but true.
Facebook whatever it was, has been for years an instrument of mass surveillance ... like twitter. There are so many academic papers that show how the info they collect, not only what you post, but what you like, click and so on, builds s really accurate personality profile of you. And guess who get's a holds of that? Russia, China, US, UK etc etc... Large Private sektor companies and governments trawl through your posts.
Any way, what is wrong with a girl showing her nipples? The human body some of the time can be a thing of beauty....

If FB had any sense of humor at all, rather than just banning or even shadow-banning, they'd turn on the word filter. This problem would sort itself out real quick if they changed every instance of "vinegar" to "gasoline."

I get all my opinions on sexuality and gender equality from tumblr feminists, instead of any actual reality of the situation.
Seriously, anyone who can legitimately have the opinion that women going topless and men going topless is the same thing are either complete shut-ins who get all their opinions from listening to new wave feminists trying to find something to screech about, or live in some shit hole African country where people haven't been able to cover up for so long that everyone is used to it.

Why should we try to change a whole society's view point of breasts just to fit into a narrative created by women with a chip on their shoulder and a severe need to create unnecessary conflict between genders to justify their existence?

An interesting read I read some time ago. Natural news seems a bit far out there.

You can make an argument that nips, or even dongs and vag, should be fine and social constructs and taboos blah blah blah. But the fact is, in Western society, we do not like those things. But make that argument somewhere else, rather than just behave as if it doesn't offend a lot of people.

Loads of people have Facebook at work. I used to. In fact for many people using social media on behalf of their employer is part or all of their job. That means that what is on their feed is in their office, their colleagues and their boss can see it, and it is basically in public. 99% of jobs would fire you if you openly had pictures of tits on your work computer, regardless of origin, hence the literal "NSFW" tag on the internet and the fact that basically everyone, even this place, take that seriously because we don't want to get other people fired or get fired ourselves because some self-righteous asshole thinks their big social statement is more important than someone else's livelihood.

But then again with SJWs what do you expect? Most of them have never had jobs so they've no idea of the devastating consequences of losing one. And it's not just this, it's "cancel culture" and wrecking people's careers over nothing. They just screech into the void demanding people be fired or doing things that might get someone fired because they've no idea what that's like.
