The whole situation is strange and growing stranger. Several days ago, the Instagram account vintage.devil claimed to have made up the story about Miller grooming Tokata Iron Eyes and sent them to Tokata's father, Chase, out of spite and a desire for revenge against Miller. (Why? She never explains, but people online say she's stalked Miller for years, so it sounds like a bitter fan/woman scorned type deal.) vintage.devil then went on a posting spree accusing the Iron Eyes of complaining based entirely on false intel and forging ahead despite her retraction only out of transphobia. Her new story is that the Iron Eyes want Tokata back under their control because they can't stand her changing her name to Gibson and ID'ing as they/them nonbinary trans. Never mind that Tokata still goes by @tokatawin on IG, and the family has been exceedingly careful to they/them her in public communications.
The vintage.devil account was terminated on IG, but the person behind it still seems to be posting (and posting and posting and posting) on Twitter as @l_il_ith.
She's posted screenshots of communications with Chase Iron Eyes, but nothing to prove that this was the ONLY information on which the Iron Eyes acted. Nevertheless, that's her claim. Just ignore the extensive testimony from people who were actually involved showing that, at the very least, Miller left a trail of bruises and waved around a gun in someone else's home.
Three days ago, VD/Lilith went on stream with a YouTuber sympathetic to Miller, reiterating that she lied out of malice... but also that she believed the story when she messaged Chase? She's all over the place. She also claims she's been trying to correct the record by posting and going on podcasts, but it doesn't occur to her until this YouTube conversation to contact the police and make a statement. Weird vibes all around.
VD/Lilith says that Chase is a "money hungry crook" who leeched off Miller's fame and money for years and turned only when the relationship stopped benefiting him. That part may well be true. The fact that Tokata was branded from the age of 12 as an environmental activist, that she was allowed to hang with this drugged out star twice her age... none of the background speaks to a family that was really looking out for their kid. But that doesn't wash Miller's hands clean. If anything, it's the archetypal grooming dynamic. Easier to estrange a kid from their family if they already have a reason to resent them — if the outsider can swoop in and save them and so secure their undying devotion.
Allegedly the woman from the MA case also stayed in touch after he made her kid uncomfortable, following up on Miller's offer to get her a horse and asking to meet up again. Awful.
Lots of screenshots and rumors from Miller's inner circle (Whitney Suters among them) are swirling around now, trying to excuse him, to charge the accusers with conspiracy, to spin every alleged misdeed as a lie manufactured by greed, grievance, and transphobia. A dozen or so diehards have apparently dedicated themselves to piling on every tweet about their sweet precious persecuted cinnamon roll with screenshots that claim to DEBUNK THE LIES while doing nothing of the sort. It's hard to follow. The posts are incoherent. I feel like an alien wading through them. Tbh the Miller friends/defenders sound exactly like they're 1) on drugs 2) in a cult and 3) fanatically bent on protecting their idol at all costs.
Everyone involved sounds terrible. God help those kids.
