Hello everyone! Never posted here but been following this train wreck for years.
Curious to others thoughts on this video made by Roger Brown about Becky. He lives within 20 miles of our gorl and has some sort of connection to Ricky. Regardless, it's very interesting and I felt gave some insight into Becky and Ambers life.

After watching this it made me realize why becky constantly talks about dead relatives and some other odd traits. I don't think they live in the most impoverish town. Nonetheless, they're pretty surrounded by poverty from Appalachia (that's a rabbit hole too), incompetent educational systems, and unemployment/lack of jobs.

He also gets into how this "way of life" can affect their maturity levels, which I do not mean to stereotype in any way. However, I always thought Becky and Amber acted somewhat childish.

I'd love to hear other thoughts on it!

Overall, I agree with what he's saying. But California, Oklahoma, Arizona, Virginia, Florida, Kentucky... did I miss anything? She always acted like a child and was always enabled by those around her, no matter where she lived.

Thats also true. Amber seems like she would gravitate towards an environment like that. She's probably pretty rich for that area meaning a sense of power for her.

I think that was a slip of the tongue when he said anywhere else people would expect AL to do something and be somebody. I think he meant Becky, not AL, from the title of the video and general context.

I've never been to KY so if he says that's how things work in his community I'll take his word for it. I think that's not the only issue though. People with no future tend to stay in the past. Becky is too depressed to see a future, all she can do is pacify herself with nostalgic reminiscing of fun childhood activities and with memories of her nephews. Considering she's very close with her sisters and loves babies, I can see why the death of her nephew (who was too young to know she was gay and therefore gave her unconditional acceptance in a difficult time of her life) affected her so much.

But she's still depressed for 6 months around the anniversary of his death and it's been 10 years. She doesn't seem to realize that that means she's depressed for half a year and that it's not normal. She doesn't have enough social awareness to notice that despite what AL tells her, most of her followers watch for the freakshow. So she thought it was appropriate to share her deepest pains in life (the loss of family members) several times to an audience of hate-watchers and had no clue it would be perceived as her constantly bringing up dead people.

Imo it's normal to think of loved ones who passed away, most people just don't mention it when they do. And they slowly find a way to cope with the loss and eventually move on. Becky has nothing to move on to. No job, no career prospects, no loving relationship, no chance of having the kids she wants so much while she's with AL, no hobbies, no fulfillment, literally nothing to do all day except eating and activities meant for children.

Yes, part of it is self-inflicted. Part of it is emotional and mental health issues. And just to be clear, I'm not defending Becky. I believe you can be an asshole and be mentlly ill. I just think her situation is a little more complex than the environment she grew up in, otherwise her whole region would be stuck at home contributing nothing to society except shitty crayola drawings and rеtard-quality painted boxes.

Honestly, though, we all lose people in our lives who are very important to us. That's the cycle of life. Becky has a truly unhealthy obsession with this. I'm sure we all still mourn certain folks in our own way, but the majority of people understand we have to get along with it. She seems quite emotionally simple. That's Hamber's favorite type of mark.

Most adults would get some form of help if they were having trouble overcoming their grief. It's been 10 years, sis. Longer than that child was alive to begin with. You didn't squeeze him out of your nethers. Get a fucking grip. I'd be surprised if the boy's own mother is still this distraught.

She's using this as an excuse to be emotionally and mentally stunted. I wonder if her family has tried their damnedest to snap her out of it and she's just too exceptional to see it for what it is? To Hamber, it's a convenient excuse a la Pride Fail Fest last year. To Becks its become this martyr complex. Maybe its because Becks knows she'll never have children of her own? Maybe its because she's so superstitious and exceptional that she really does feel guilty because she lied about being gay on his life? Maybe she's just an immature red neck. We may never know.

That was my point. Being depressed for 6 months out of 12 over something that happened a decade ago isn't normal or healthy.

I found it really interesting too. And bleak. Really bleak. That Poverty Mindset doesn't exactly set you up for success, but 'success' means different things for different people. For Becky, it's not about personal or professional development clearly. She seems content as long as nobody's leaving her, and as long as she can stay rooted in what's familiar (hence the reason she'll never move away with AL). But she's never left the 90s, either.

Her entire family subscribes to the same belief system. Education is for snobby people that think their shit doesn't stink. It's that kind of backwards mentality, combined with zero ambition that decimates entire communities. Most people that have traveled or been exposed to other ways of living in the world understand this. But if all you know is Monticello, Kentucky, and you were never raised to be curious, to question, to explore, or to push the limits of your abilities, this is what you end up with. A lazy simpleton that thinks to be simple is to be righteous.

Roger's a funny dude with a lot of insight. I've been enjoying his content.

It's sad in a lot of ways. I can't imagine having literally no ambition. Not even lofty goals, I mean "I hope to have a job someday" ambition. Becky lacks even that.

Yes! It's crazy to think but welfare really cripples communities like this. Why would you go get a part time minimum wedge job when you could get an unemployment or disability check. I don't exactly know what the amount would be but I'm sure it's at least close to the amount of those jobs paychecks.

Yes! Being stuck in the past is a trait that continues on to each generation.
This type of communal mindset will enable Amber to death. Obesity isn't shocking to anyone there. She doesn't stick out like a sore thumb. I have to admit that if I was Amber, I would probably struggle as well to loose weight living in that environment. Not that I am making any excuses for her because her weight is absolutely pathetic but just from an objective point of view. Actually, she probably feels like she has her shit together compared to everyone else around her.

It's very sad what happens in towns like this. Pride and anger has held back so many people for generations. Very thankful my great grandfather escaped the coal mines for a better life at 16, or else my life could be very very different. He was thought of as a disgrace, pussy, and embarrassment to the MEN of the family that stayed to coal mine.
Ignorance is bliss.

(Also, I don't think every small town is bad. I don't want to offend anyone because no one can control what they're born into. I am more talking about the poverty/hardships certain towns are facing from coal mines and farming destroying their economy.)

Or so she claims. I doubt anyone in that house (it's possible that Ricky does) knows what depression is. It's very clear with Amber, but I believe Becky and Eric think the same way - if they're not jumping up and down with joy, it's because they're depressed.

Life is mostly boring, with a handful of excitement sprinkled here and there. Being hyped all the time isn't natural or desired, but those people seem to think that there is only two states - over the top happy or in the pits of depression. Anything that isn't hyper is depression to them.

It's also the perfect excuse for not doing what needs done. Woke up late? It's depression. Didn't clean the house/did the dishes/laundry? Depression.

Becky's depression over the death of her nephew is...interesting to say the least. Last year Amber claimed they didn't go to the parade on the last day of Gay Pride because it was the nephew's birthday and Becky was too depressed to go. Oddly enough, the year prior they went with Rafe and Hannah and there were photos of Becky enjoying herself there.

They're too depressed to keep a schedule, to clean the house and even take care of their own hygiene, but will go out to eat or watch a movie in a heart beat.

Nah, I don't see the Thumb as depressed. She gets out of bed, showers, goes out and has fun with Mumbles and Rickie....

What she does seem (to me) is ANGRY. Thumby is PISSED. She hates the haydurs right back. as shown when she was spied flipping off the camera behind Big Al's back several times. How DARE we mock her exceptional artistic abilities. The nerve of us questioning her life choices. The gall of us pointing out that a thumb doesn't have a neck.

I also think Thumby is pretty resentful. Of Big Al. She loves all the gibmes but thinks she's working too hard being a thumb butler. Some of the looks she casts Al's way are quite a bit less than "loving". She sees every day how little Al does to earn all the big bux and wants all her stupid crap to come as easily...but no, Big Al controls the purse strings, therefore Thumby must dance to her discordant tune.So there ya go---pissed, resentful, and exceptional, a lovely combination.

Anger/irritability are symptoms of depression, js

I think if she is depressed it's situational, same shit Amberlynn has. Anyone living either of their lives, and in those bodies would get depressed.

Was it the same dayof the month though? I thought each city just picked a weekend like the last weekend of June or the first weekend of August or whatever, and that's pride weekend. So maybe the nephew birthday fell on a week day the previous year.

Did anyone post this? Willo Davis was talking about how him and Zachary Michael got demonetized after making videos with Big AL’s name in the title. What do you guys think this means for Amber and her own videos? If your name is literal YouTube kryptonite, it can’t bode well for your channel. Has this only been since after her getting 100k and the Play button?

I don't know about demonetization, but her videos have an abysmal like to dislike ratio. There's no way the algorithm doesn't pick up on that. It affects recommendations, and it might affect how much money she makes too. People have been ramping up the dislikes ever since the recent Exerciselynn scam.

I agree with Willo that Amberlynn probably isn't behind the issue he had... It is quite interesting nonetheless. Unfortunately, since her videos still have 8 ads each, I doubt she got demonetized.

I've read that the large amount of comments on her videos gets her videos recommended. Audience interaction is a positive thing even if the comments are negative in youtubeland.
