I wonder if claiming you have auditory sensitivites would get these people to actually calm/quiet down would work. After all, they'd have to check their nuerological privledge in that case.

I really don't understand the effort to tone police people. People will never be satisfied ever. It doesn't matter how many times you change it, it will not work unless people see it as something simple to adapt to. These people aren't even trying to change people in real life. They're just trying to win petty internet arguments. It's a waste of time.

Trying to make people who call you, "retarded" on the internet be more respectful is a lost cause. People are not going to suddenly change because you are the only one upset. You have to give people a REASON to do so. All tone policing does really is, is trying to save face.

The point i'm trying to say is that people should learn when to stop interacting with assholes online and go outside.

Complaining about tone policing has the exact same goal as tone policing; trying to shut the other side up and listen to the other person.

And you wonder why people don't like it.

Aye, it's because what on the surface seems like a call for more civility quickly falls apart in practice because you realize there's no reciprocity.

You have to whisper, they can shout if they want to. You have to have facts, THEY can substitute raw emotion. You have to shut up if spoken over, they must be allowed to finish or you're trying to silence them.... they keep trying to blatantly rewrite the rules of discourse and are shocked anyone else would notice this, let alone have a problem with it.

That tweet shows how great it is to live in first world. In the third world, much of your time and energy every single day is consumed by task of securing food and water.

You do not have the time and the energy to even thing of a tweet this fucking stupid.

What does the whole stop expecting free labor from native americans mean anyway? Is there like some habit of native americans to work for free? And then the we have this girl at least i assume she identifies as one ranting about how being native means being a scientist,a historian,a biologist etc?Do whites in the US when dealing with someone of Sioux ancenstry start asking 'Tell me your tribal history starting with your great-great-whatever?'.Is that something that happens? What controversy did i miss in the meantime? What happened that i just happened to miss in the newscycle?Probably because i was genuinely curious about the US pulling out of the INF treaty and didn't notice the real news.

As far as I can tell the actual meaning of emotional labour is that you have to control your emotions at work. Which makes sense any interaction with these people is performance of morality for cash.
Tumblr-types turned emotional labor from "it's annoying people expect me to be super perky to a customer who's cussing me out for not taking expired coupons" into "how the fuck dare you expect me to answer any questions!?"

By that logic they should pay me for my emotional labour as they're demanding I listen to their bullshit.

Tumblr has made it far, far stupider, as they consider any human interaction that possibly involves having empathy into “emotional labor”. Mom upset that she lost her job and is crying about it? Forced emotional labor. Boyfriend had a rough day at work and wants to vent? Forced emotional labor.

Honestly every time I see anybody bitching about “emotional labor”, my eyes glaze over and all I see is “ but what about meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!”

They use the term "emotional labor" so that they can narrowly avoid referring to everyone around them as "emotional vampires". (Mostly because they themselves usually are.)

these are the exact same girls who date the most basic straight boys and then complain when they act like basic straight boys, e.g. use their girlfriend as the only person they process their emotions with because they're only friends with guys and it's not socially acceptable for guys to talk about their feelings with their male friends. like, girl, you didn't have to date them. (also, any time you see a girl on twitter complaining about how much she hates white guys...she is dating a white guy. remember sarah jeong, that chick who got fired from the nyt for being racist against white people or whatever? yep, dating a white guy).

So what I'm seeing is that emotional labour is bassically is the individual involved being callous, obstrusive or lazy but they're rationalizing it? I was considering if anyone at everyday femminism just thinks to themselves "OH JUST FUUUUCK OFF I DON'T CARE ABOUT YOU, YOU FUCKING PRICK." because they're all super polite and are terrified of micro aggresions-now I know they do they just call it emotional labour because emotional labour for them is basic interactions with people they don't want to do.
