Steven Universe. Fucking LOL; of course she's tits-deep into Steven Universe. And she turns to it for comfort after a Disney flick triggers her. Why are all of these people so absorbed in children's media, that they turn to it for comfort and inspiration? And I swear to god, how do these people even function, given how emotionally frail they are?

I guess they've never watched "Tangled", that goes balls-deep into gaslightning.

I think most of these people can't differentiate being discomfited and being actually triggered. There's certain things like names, places, I associate with death so I get an uncomfortable prickle when confronted with them. But that's not the same as having a flashback. (Which is what a trigger, triggers.)

They're emotionally children and they don't function, period.

Wasn't there a story where Pearl manipulated Garnet to "fuse" with her on multiple occasions (which is arguably the metaphor for Gem sex)? That sounds gaslighty to me.

Children are usually more robust. They have a zeal for life and the ability to grow emotionally. These people are broken on a fundamental level. The closest comparison is like a psychopath but instead of missing compassion and emphaphy they're missing even mundaine resolve and fortitude.

This is exactly it. These people are so coddled and spoiled that they feel entitled to be compensated for every moment they don't feel perfectly satisfied with everything they see around them.

Slightly off-topic, but could this be the result of helicopter parenting? You have the stunted emotional growth, the social anxiety, the sense of entitlement, and lack of independent coping skills.

I was not surprised on reading that. The fanbase for that show is so emotionally fragile.

I always thought Everyday Feminism was an elaborate satire site because so many of their articles sounds like something that was a parody to poke fun at the extremes of progressiveness, but then I realized that intersectionality is one hell of a drug.

Intersectionality isn't a bad thing to consider when it comes to social issues, but people seem to use it to create a pissing contest on who's the most oppressed in a first world country. Good grief.

I know you have a fair point there, I just realize that it is less of a frame of reference and more of a religion of crazy marxists at this point because that is what it is.

Is Steven Universe basically the next MLP? Because what I glean is it's a little kid's show that has been commandeered by a fanbase of spoiled but emotionally arrested adults who never fit in anywhere and get egregiously offended when the rest of the world doesn't welcome and celebrate their arbitrarily alternative lifestyles and perverse aversion to growing up. Am I on the money with this?

I think by this point, we've gotten to the stage where Friendship Is Magic was the previous Steven Universe.

You are, a dozen times over.

True but in MLP fandom it seems like you were actually allowed to have fun once in a while. These pearl-clutchers just care about virtue-signaling.

And I'm saying that as a fan, thankfully the creators are more my generation (fans have complained about them being ok with porn) so the show itself isn't too affected.

MLP is not designed with perverts in mind; Steven's Universe, with its cross-dressers and gender-benders, is.
