Because, you know, it's just impossible to run a blogging site AND do a regular 9-5 at the same time.
 
Imagine your boss telling you that not only was the company in trouble and you were probably all getting fired, you'd also have to do a five-minute video on how scared it made you that you could lose your job so that the company could have a slim hope of continuing to make payroll for a little while longer.

There are some demoralizing meetings happening in the business world every day, but the meeting where they announced that is one of the most dismal I can imagine.
 
Sounds like they're sticking around for now. They raised 15K out of their 20K goal in the first week. Now they're upping the goal to 50K to get them through next month too.

Except that they've turned 'living in denial' into an artform. I bet their normal everyday meetings about how awful men are and how no one gets things like they do are full of tension and anguish, and this meeting was a cheerful upbeat discussion about how they're going to come out of this with more support than ever.
 
If their payroll runway is that short, they're doomed within the year. Compassion fatigue sets in after the first two or three bailouts.

Yeah, this is hipster welfare and thirsty cucks fishing for attention. It'll give EF a bit of a bouy, but it's not a permanent solution.

What WOULD be a permanent solution would be not expecting a 4-year-old blogging site to provide a half dozen people with a six-figure income each. Be realistic, do it as a labor of love, and cash whatever check you can get. But that makes too much sense.

Pretty much. Abusers generally choose vulnerable people they can easily abuse and manipulate. Considering some EF articles literally read like abuser how-tos it's not surprising they'd have them working for their site. Tbh a lot of sjw nonsense is really just cover for malignant narcicists and other awful people to get away with bullshit.

Not really. Men and women are equally likely to be shitty and when they are shitty, it's often in the same basic ways. I mean yeah more abusive women than men seem to be using SJW nonsense as a way to get away with shit (though as a good chunk of the rat king subforum can testify there are tons of exceptions) and iirc women are more likely to be psychologically abusive than physically abusive, but otherwise shit is basically the same.

Do they reveal what their salaries are? Because frankly, if they want people to provide them their income they could reasonably be expected to reveal how they spend the money.

I realize that's not what patreon is for. But in this case, by asking for it to be used as indefinite life support for their company, it is essentially the exact same as taking their company public and getting investors to jump on the IPO. Calling it by a different name does not change how delightfully and enthusiastically capitalistic it is.

Like @Android raptor says, it looks the same no matter the gender of the abuser. These people are so clearly obsessed with power dynamics, they think dating is about winning a battle when the opposite is true, finding a good life partner is supposed to be about having one person to come home to who won't be trying to screw you over every way they can.

The "danger of shutting down" is basically the world not paying them for existing. Running a website is not free, but it is also not expensive either. KF gets much more traffic than EF and I think Null said our monthly costs were just under $200, and that's including all the extra security crap we need. A strictly-content site like EF would be much cheaper to run.

Their "emergency fund raising" isn't buying code or bandwidth, it's buying Starbucks, vibrators, and hair dye.

He's just doing the left-wing version of that. "Rape is bad. women deserve rights. Gays deserve rights". Yeah no shit Louis, the sky is blue too in case you want to do a bit on that. I forget who said it here (and feel bad because I only recently directly quoted them) but they made the point that comedy doesn't have to be comedy anymore, it just has to preach a point the audience already agrees with. Because getting a laugh is immaterial; that's just one way of getting a reaction of any kind, which is where the money is at. The most efficient way to get that reaction is to just say something that makes the audience respond "yeah, I agree with that! If a guy on stage says it then I can feel good because being onstage equals being an authority figure!" Preaching to the choir is the most lucrative form of public demonstration by far.

I believe future historians may refer to this as the Bill Nye principle.
