I like how, when I hit Ctrl+F to find what that quote was referring to, it flagged up all these little sentences about "non-binary people" that seemed like the writer had added them in as an afterthought. All "shit, if I accidentally imply that people are only male or female, I'll be transphobic!" And she probably would be called that.

There isn't a way to accurately include statistics (etc) for them anyway, because how two individual "non-binary" people present and act is totally different depending on the person. You get non-binary people who look and act totally like men, and some who look and act totally like women, and even those few who at least make an effort to look androgynous aren't going to all be exactly in the middle. What if a bunch of men in governments said that they were now non-binary, but changed nothing about themselves apart from that? After all, it's transphobic to question someone's gender identity if they don't appear how you think they should.

So suddenly you'd have statistics and representation and proof that "non binary people are in positions of power", but it wouldn't have changed anything that she was trying to say here.

My favourite is when there's a clash between "Women have it worse than men so shut up" and MRAs' "Woman in the developing world have it worse than women in the US". I'll admit it tickles me to see Internet feminists do a huge swerve from "This is a bigger problem for women, so men wait your turn" to "Just because what we suffer isn't as bad as what women elsewhere suffer, doesn't mean that it isn't still important!"

It all does wind up as "this thing is important because it's happening to me!", which I guess isn't anything new.

If my understanding of estrogen and testosterone and how they influence the brain is correct, theoretically everyone is genderfluid to some degree, which makes the term absolutely meaningless.
Whenever I ask genderfluid/nonbinary people what makes them so they always seem to spew something about how they sometimes like basketball and sometimes like dresses, as if that has anything to do with gender.
 
Since they decided that dysphoria isn't required, and that there's no such thing as "masculine" and "feminine", there's honestly nothing to support being non-binary. Particularly when coupled with "cis people are inherently transphobic or boring", that encourages other people to decide that they too are genderfluid/whatever, because they like science but also painting their nails. And it also helps rid them of the shackles of privilege, particularly if they're white and middle class. Now they can join in complaining about how difficult life is and how people don't understand!

If someone was genuinely dysphoric about having either male or female characteristics, then I would call them non-binary, sure. I don't know what to do about it-- would it be viable or responsible to give them surgery or hormones? Without either set of hormones you'll have health issues. And you can't pick and choose what effects you have from HRT. So would they be treated physically, like transgender people, or would they be treated psychologically, like people who think they need an amputation to be their "real self"? It's difficult to know and study what is best, at least in part because you have all these genderclowns who aren't dysphoric and mistake "gender" with "mood" and "clothing".

Sort off, he's talking about the fact that Gender as opposed to sex is a social contruct rather than a litteral fundemental principle. He's right that isnt really exist in the litteraly sense. The problem is his only real arguement is that it has negative consequances( aside from a really bad comparison to animals which litterally makes no sense when you think on it). You can't really get rid off Gender as a construct since it's little more than an extension of sex which is reality-you may as well try to get rid of the concept of Death because you don't like that humans stop functioning eventually.
He's right that the binary has negative consequances in terms of homophobia and transphobia but those issues can be resolved without throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Also neither he nor his butt buddies really challange the concept of gender-they're just a mixture of boys and girls who don't ascribe to traditional male and female expectations-that doesnt make them not male. As I've said Justine is in the end, just a tranvestite who wastes way to much time nazel gazing about his dong and his love of pretty skirts.

I know. It always seems like its related to moods and stereotypes than anything else. That's what's frustrating is that they claim that they're expanding themselves when they're really putting themselves into boxes and complicated systems.

Here he makes the argument that gender definitions are, by his account, arbitrary. This I'm going to take the time to meticulously cut apart because I don't want there to be any chance of him using this bullshit argument effectively again. So let's cut right to it.

Humans are a sexually dipmorphic species. Males and Females have fundamentally different development rates, growth patterns, and body chemistries. This is intentional and how nature designed us. And, it needs be noted, this is the fucking norm. No matter how you feel about transgendered people, they account, by the most generous fucking estimates, for less than 0.005% of the human population. Your average person will go their entire lives without meeting an actual transperson. I say "actual" because I'm insisting on the medical definition of dysphoria, which is the scientific one, and treats dysphoria as the medical condition it is.

I know I, for one, am not counting this ascended fetishist and those like him as a legitimate transperson:

Remember how I said that the actual population of legit trans people was small? As in infintessimally small? They are grossly outnumbered by people like the fucker who made this comic, assholes like Sophie Labelle, and people like Sarah Nyberg. Transgenderism as a whole has been overrun by identity politics ideologues who grabbed it as an easy way to get an in-roads into feminism an thus higher on the Privilege Economy. Even if every single transperson in existence signed onto social media tomorrow and publicly decried identity politics, they would not have the reach to be more than a speedbump to the genderspecial snowflake brigade. Which calls them truscum and filthy gatekeeping transmedicalists.

But the thing is, these people still aren't anywhere near the numbers they like to pretend they are. To hear them tell it, every single person has is like a coin-flip to be trans, when even if we were to treat every single fucking thing they say as legitimate, like 98% of the human population is still fucking normies. Cis people are the overpowering majority of the human population, and, yes, as such, you can virtually invariably tell if someone is a man or woman by their body characteristics, even under this half-ass's rhetoric.

And here's where I'm going to get technical again.

We've established by now that the gender binary exists because of a logically-sound reason: Humans are sexually dimorphic and in the overpowering majority of cases, assuming cisgenderdom is a fucking logical conclusion. What I'm going to break out now is the fact that will haunt every single genderspecial until the heat death of Twitter:

There is not a single credible peer-reviewed study supporting the claims of the genderspecials that binary genders are a thing.

I spent almost a month looking into this shit off and on for various articles on Lolcow Wiki. I thought to myself: "surely, there must be some evidence of this, or it wouldn't be so commonly claimed to be legitimate," and I figured, somewhere out there, there was a credible scientific study that proved this point. Somewhere. Anywhere. Something to make me think the claim was anything other than complete horse-shit.

Every study I found claiming to prove this had problems. Giant ones. First, there was citations. Half of them would cite things as scientific facts, then you'd look at the link and it would be a fucking Tweet, or a Tumblr blog, which may or may not have fucking anything to do with the alleged citation. More than a few citations for these 404'd, and at least one citation led to an article that proved the exact fucking opposite of what the study was trying to claim. Other citations would lead to such credible sources as John Money, or fucking Jezebel. That's what I want to see in a fucking scientific study: Links to fucking clickbait.

But it was the fucking peer review part that got to me. Every time I looked at these, they were a fucking mess. Were they peer reviewed by people who actually have any scientific credibility? Nope. They were reviewed by other students. Or the teacher who put them up to the assignment. Or identity politicians with a vested interest in the study. At least one was self-peer reviewed.

The worst ones were the ones who obviously got their reviews from a so-called "Review Mill," a group which will claim anything is peer reviewed by them if you pay enough money and is a fucking cancer in scientific study fields. This is going on as we speak in an attempt to do an end-run around science.

Not one. After ages of searching through papers and looking at way too much bullshit from the Gender Studies departments.

Until I see evidence to the contrary, nonbinary genders are as bogus as Head-On, the topical headache stick made of wax and carcinogens.

He seems to just take for granted the idea that "too boyish," "not boyish enough," "too girlish," and "not girlish enough" are patterns that simply exist throughout human behavior. The genderists are trying at this point to cement 20th/21st century gender roles into the permanent definition of "man" and "woman."

I wonder what they'd have thought of medieval-era China, when men were supposed to be the emotional, sad, withdrawn sex who wore what amounted to dresses while women were thought to be quick to anger, good at household accounts, and wore trousers. Or of Renaissance-era Europe, where women were thought to be the sexually rapacious sex, while men were thought to have better control and continence over their sexuality. Or of Victorian-era England and the US, where boys wore pink stereotypically and girls wore blue. Or of the many times and places in human history where men have been the "peacocks" who wore finery, frills, and jewels while women's garb was plain and practical.

A huge part of why this is all bullshit is that someone who really likes frills and finery would be classified as acting "too girly" in contemporary Western culture, but wouldn't have been viewed remotely as such in other places and times. The markers that make people "unmasculine" or "unfeminine" have varied incredibly.

For intersectionalists, it's a profoundly white supremacist philosophy. It posits that a discomfort with specific, modern Western gender values is indicative of an inherent repulsion toward one's entire sex. Rather than saying "you can do whatever you want as a male and still be a male," which would actually go a long way toward dispelling stupid stereotypes, they're saying "you can do whatever you want as a male and it will reveal to you your true gender essence."

I sometimes wonder if America's intense flirtation with Calvinism has something to do with the easy adoption here of genderist thought. The idea that you are essentially predestined/predetermined to express yourself in ways that reveal your status as a saved or unsaved person translates pretty well to this idea that your preferences in toys, colors, and behaviors are revelatory of your innate, essential gender status.
 
Trying to get rid of the gender binary because some people are gender non-conforming is like trying to get rid of the heads/tails coin flip binary because occasionally, the coin will land on the edge. Gender expression shouldn't be an all-or-nothing proposition, and society shouldn't force people into roles they don't want to be in. A woman should be allowed to roughhouse, shoot a gun, hunt and barbecue her kill while drinking and smoking a cigar, and man should be allowed to cook, clean, take care of children and do floral patterns and the only thing society should judge them on is whether or not they do what they do well.

I don't mind if we change a few terms, calling the gender binary "the traditional gender binary" so people who don't identify purely with their assigned gender can still be counted while accounting for the fact that according sources on wikipedia, 99.7% of the U.S. population (and presumably similar numbers exist across the world) are not transsexual. But to pretend that it's wrong to assume that people will identify with the sexual organs they are born with and will generally be interested in the things traditionally associated with their gender is insane.
