I don't mean to bust in like a dick but I haven't kept up with Phil for a few months. Can anyone recommend some some recent TIHYDP's?

I was watching MightyD's recent coverage on DSP and discovered the biggest lie Phil always tell his fans, this happened when he was addressing 3rdeyethe3rd and undercover trolls, but since I'm a braindead detractor I will take his comment out of kahntext:

"Everyday there are a lot of people who want to fuck with me"

No phil, no one wanna fuck with you; Leanna left and Khet hadnt had sex in ages, you greasy lying pig

For some reason, this specific one got recommended to me by Youtube, so I've had it in the background the last couple of days. I think it's a very good beginner's guide to DSP.

Key moments include but aren't limited to:

1) At 47:42, he actually admits that he mashes buttons intentionally: "I double tapped instinctively because when I play games I double tap to make sure my input comes out." This will be extra hilarious because many times during the video he will complain that double tapping will lead to things that "he didn't do" like a flip jump. He also says a couple times explicitly that he expects the game to do what he wanted to do, not what he actually did.

2) Mario is a completely separate entity from DSP. Many times during the video he will state that Mario did things independently of DSP. DSP will refer to Mario repeatedly in the third-person "he" instead of the first person "I".

3) DSP constantly blames the game for cheating or putting up challenges/obstacles that "aren't fair." A key example is the mast in the Blooper match. DSP will complain that Blooper is bouncing the ball off the mast successfully while every time DSP does it the ball goes out. DSP will never notice that the reason Blooper can do it and he can't is because DSP is hitting the ball too hard. Nor will DSP make any attempt to try to learn how to curve any of his shots.

4) DSP won't attempt to actually learn the patterns of the one-on-one matches and beat them that way because they are impossible/cheating/nothing he could do. He beats them because in this game there is a KO rule where if the player/opponent breaks all their rackets then they lose.

4a) This also results in DSP constantly complaining about his shots going out. Because he's aiming his supers at the computer's feet and not the court, if the computer backs up past the baseline, the shot goes out. DSP never figures this out and complains that "he aimed for the guy's feet". There also appears to be several times where DSP clearly hits the ball out or aims out of bounds, but DSP still complains that the computer cheated him.

4b) This also results in DSP hitting all his shots towards the computer because the only way he knows how to win is to break their rackets. Then he's constantly bitching that they hit the ball too far away and there was no way he could catch up to it. DSP does not make any attempt to hit the ball away from the player. This also results in DSP seemingly (and probably actually) having no idea how tennis is actually played.

5) DSP never understands the concept that he can't get out of a situation because of something he did 5 seconds prior. He thinks he should be able to get out of any situation at any time no matter what, and if he can't then it's bad game design. The most notable examples are when he lobs the ball towards the opponent from one side of the court, the computer easily spikes a super on the other side (so if DSP is on the right then the computer hits it to the left), and then DSP complains that he had no chance to catch up to the ball and/or Mario is too slow.

6) CHECKPOINTS! The last boss is a monster (I haven't finished watching the video yet, but the last hour is all one match versus Luigi). Except it's a gauntlet - he has to win two matches: a doubles match with Peach and Daisy and the Mario vs. Luigi singles match. The doubles match is easy enough, but he has to replay it for 15-20 minutes every time he loses to Luigi. This is compounded by the fact that the only way DSP was winning before was by breaking rackets, which he can't do to Luigi (or at least it's much harder). So he complains that it's bad game design that he has to constantly replay the doubles match in 2018.

I heartily disagree with the prevalent opinion that DSP's boring, and that TIHYDPs are no longer frequently made because he's boring. I also don't wanna commit to what would surely be a big argument over something so stupid. So I'll just say that one of the biggest factors is a lack of talented people that wanna commit to entire streams of DSP's garbage.

One of the few notables to be recommended is @Comma. Here's Comma's "DSP Tries It: bugged Game of the Year Awards mechanics 2018". It's not technically a TIHYDP, but it should give you a creative look at some recent goings-on:

Okay, it's finally done. Over 34 minutes wow of DSP praising games he shat on months/weeks earlier. And boy, was I wrong about Dragon Quest 11.
The only game I couldn't find any footage on of him raging, was Detroit: Become Human. But hey, it hardly is an actual game, so not many mechanics for DSP to find bugs in. Also, fun fact: his number one game of the year had the biggest amount of footage of him raging, as far as I could tell.

Just for the sake of easy distribution, I decided to upload this to a throwaway Youtube account I created some months ago. But, without further ado, I present to you:

I actually enjoyed Pocok's TIHYDP of PUBG. It's pretty well done and has Phil being complete garbage, whining, and going off on long salty rants due to audience baiting. The Fortnite TIHYDP Pocok did with Memology was pretty enjoyable for me and also well done, I thought.

I partly agree with you on this - I still firmly believe the source material (Phil) has become more boring, simply because of all the chat hand holding and DSP being a big piss baby whenever things get too hard. Old DSP would have kept hitting his head at something and provided more laughs and rage.

But there is still a lot of content to get out of his Multiplayer stuff, yet there's very few decent content creators any more willing to make a good TIHYDP. The market is absolutely flooded with total shit, basically amounting to just straight 8 hour re-uploads with a few salt shaker gifs overlayed. The example you listed, as well as the pubg ones, have been great.

Less is more when it comes to TIHYDP, imo. Cataloguing every single time Phil makes a mistake just waters down the really good dumb/rage segments. We all die or fuck up in games sometimes. Trim that basic shit out and give us the moments of chat begging or him being a total retard.

One of the other differences between then and now is the hand-holding/chat spamming.

Watch the MGS3 TIHYDP from 2013. DSP spends literally hours (in real time - there's an eight videos later prompt) not realizing that his stamina is being drained by leeches. He also complains that he can't equip the suppressor even though it literally says "press A to equip". In 2019, chat would be tipping him telling him to cure his leeches or Press A to equip.

So TIHYDP in 2019 are more rage-based than bad-gameplay based. Rage can get repetitive after a while.

Agreed. The innumerable ways Phil found to fuck up were amazing to watch. This is the stuff that proved to me that he was actually bad at gaming and not just an act. There were too many things to be faked.

However it's fine to be a bad gamer - if you're still able to be entertaining. And this leads us back to the exact same argument: Past-DSP was entertaining because he failed in fascinating many and big ways just due to him playing alone, only had his thick skull filled with bad ideas and giant ego he's one of the best gamers in the country.

Current-DSP still thinks he is one of the best gamers in the country but lets his chat take over the wheel for any single and simple decision there is. You still see him fail, big times, but this one mind blowing aspect of him trying to THINK, making own bad decisions and reaching idiotic conclusions is GONE. On top his often talkative (garbage-) commentary is completely gone and is replaced with reading chat, 90° angle beard scratching, goat laughter and just the "usual" amount of low commentary (still garbage).

Phil still tries to squeeze out his 10 year old lemon of a career and "talent" as if it's still fresh, but it's dust dry.
Everybody knows this already. Call me bonkers if Phil also doesn't know it. It drives me insane how he keeps on with this show and makes no attempt in changing ANYTHING to make it a living like it could be. I will never understand people like Dave, driven by ego, money and jelousy and a route to nowhere when the fuel comes to an end.

I won't believe the podcast saga is anything else than ego and money related. At least it could be an attempt to change something? But 100% not due to his own free will, it's more like despair.

Eh. Sorta off topic. In the podcast thread? I don't know.

The 0utsyder just released his TIHYDP on the RE2 playthrough here:

https://youtube.com/watch?v=_9nMj02pfFE
Im only one hour in and Phil stupidity is just too much, his excuses does not make sense,he died TWO TIMES to the first zombie in the game and instead of saying "wow, the first enemy in the game killed me twice,I must be doing something wrong" he went for "bugged game mechanics" and procced to say that the game was designed so the first zombie kills you (how does that even make sense? how can the game continue if the game is designed for the first enemy in the game to kill you?)

About one hour in there is a part where he has to run past a corridor full of zombies and some dogs in the garage section,he died about 10 times(maybe more) in that part and has not tried anything differently,he just runs and dies over and over again and instead of saying "I must be doing something wrong, better try something different" he tells his audience that the game is not balanced for hardcore and thats why he is losing. It cant be the fact that he wasted ammo and healing items and now has to run through like 7 enemies without getting hit once(he is in danger while doing this) oh no...it must be that the game is not balanced for hardcore.

Jesus this is going to be a long TIHYDP,and im not just saying that because the video is five and a half hours long.

Seven and a half hours of footage containing almost all of Phil's ragequits throughout his youtube/twitch career.

Yes, this is 4 hours. I shall report back after enduring this... Thing.

Edit: I got about 20 minutes into this and two major issues:

There's this obnoxious anime watermark in the corner throughout the entire thing. I think it's from Naruto or some other gay shit.

There's a severe lack of editing. The whole point of these fucking videos is to show edited highlights of Phil at his worst. This just drags and drags. It's obvious the guy just dragged and dropped clips from other detractor videos, slapped his watermark over the footage, and called it a day.

Thanks for taking some time to check it out and give some info. Like with people putting up with Phil to report back on the good stuff, I always appreciate the effort :)

So... Waddles made his own Worst of DSP 2018 video?
