Sorry for another random question but I keep spotting stuff I can't recognize in his videos. What's all that crap hanging from the rearview mirror?

I think he might be. If he could accomplish it through a mail order course. Here he's claiming to be. And of course the usual request for donations.

Hey, he can't get mad... he wanted donations. Someone kindly donated a sex toy catalog to his cause.

Seriously though, what kind of married man gets deeply offended at receiving a catalog in the mail? Even an evangelist knows that the "marriage bed" is sacred, after all. I guess he doesn't have enough (see: any) sex with Rene. Can't blame him, that leg looks gnarly.

I may have missed this, but why does this guy have a chilly bin in his car?

Bob seems to have had a change of heart.

Good on you for having an open mind, Bob.

Variation on a theme.

We can only hope that McKim does not develop hemorrhoids. Or he will be showing those as well.

Mod edit: The video was taken down by Bob. The title of the video was "Showing my medication my belly button and preaching".

This is Part Three of my write up on Understanding Robert L McKim.

I think, deep down/sub-consciously, he knows he's not the sharpest knife in the drawer, and he secretly marvels at the competence of others: the effortlessness with which some people can read out loud, listen and understand instructions the first time, or work on a computer without it crashing. And the way some people aren't constantly bombarded by “unforeseeable” disasters. He's amazed by how easy stuff is for “smart” people, and inflates their competence to ridiculous, comic-book levels.

For example, he sometimes shares CWC's idea that once you upload a video to YouTube, the people that need to see it, view it instantly. Similarly, in numerous medical calls, he doesn't seem to understand the idea that his family physician would have to forward medical records to his various specialists. Basically, he seems to think his dermatologist can telepathically fax his patient records to his insurance provider, who receives it psychically and forwards it to his social worker, via High-Speed Holy Spirit Cloud Services.

Also, I think he notices that other people don't seem to have nearly as many problems as he does, and suspects this is due to various conspiracies. For instance, he's quick to attribute most any inconvenience to a nefarious plot. Look at any number of the vids he's posted, where he's dealing with PC problems. CD key not working? Microsoft's plan to steal money. Rene's 12th email address isn't taking the password? Yahoo knows that they can fuck over the little guys, and they do it for just for fun. You don't see John Andrews having these problems, do you?! Checkmate, heretics!

Also, price of bacon goes up = Apocalypse!
Point Four – The day-to-day tribulations and frustrations in his own life, strengthen and reaffirm these delusions.
Except that he's not really wrong. And I don't think he's deluded. There really is a conspiracy against him, and I'm not just talking internet trolls. If you think about it from his point of view, it all makes sense.

For me, the whole thing crystallized when I was watching about the 8.5m mark of the New World Order video. I think at the time I was playing Xbox and listening to him in the background, and there's this moment when he says, “They're trying to tell us how to live!” And something about his voice grabbed me. So I dropped the controller, rewound and watched it. And not to get cheesy or anything, but I feel like there's a moment where you can stare into his soul, you know? And the voice? I don't know, but I just said “He's right. We are, and the conspiracy is real.”

And that's it, in a nutshell, right there. Everybody in his life, is trying to tell him that he's not doing things the right way. Doctor wants him to change his diet. JHA wants him to stop bitching on the internet and take some responsibility for his actions. The police wanted him to move that shit off his lawn, way back when. His pastor too- Get off the internet!

And look at us- we're part of it all too. I mean, what percentage of this thread, is us all agreeing with one another, about how poorly RLM is living his life, and pointing out all the things he's doing wrong? And yes, calling him stupid. We're making him the outsider. Change your lifestyle, fatty!

Putting aside the face that we're right (and he's wrong)- it has got to suck, to be constantly told you're wrong, and then ignored the rest of the time. Emotions don't care who's right, so it doesn't matter to him that we have the correct facts. And it never will.
Point Number Five – Yes, there really is a conspiracy of people against him. It's happening on the internet, and it's happening IRL. I think it's been happening his whole life.
Oh, he's wrong about the purpose and scope of said conspiracy. We don't care that he's talking about God... Or at least, I don't. HP and Microsoft aren't "in" on it, of course. People don't want to control his life, they're just sick of hearing him bitch all the time, and wish he wouldn't keep shitting the bed when they have to smell it, too.

And maybe it's not an actual conspiracy. But that's a distinction without a difference from his point of view. And really, the end result is the same- He becomes the outsider, and we unite in our opposition to him, make jokes and stuff behind his back. That's pretty close to a conspiracy, to him at least.
Point Number Six – This is a rough way to go through life, and I can't be too surprised that this is how it all turned out for him. To quote Warren Sapp, “He's like a blind dog in a meat locker,” instinctively lashing out at every little noise and scent, whether it's the hand that feeds, or the hand that tasers him in the balls.

True- he's just about the strongest cocktail of frustration and vindictiveness that I've ever taken a sip of, and I'd be hard-pressed to mention two redeeming qualities about the man... But I still can't help but feel some (distant) sympathy for the dude. I wonder how I might have turned out, if I had to bear his crosses for 51 years.

Oh yeah, and it's so obvious that I'm not sure I've actually come out and said it, because I feel like it's been implied this whole time... But Point Number Seven is his doctor's degree, and his ordainment as minister, provides the validation that no one person ever will. It's "unimpeachable" proof that he matters- to the world, and to God.
  1. McKim has probably been called stupid and/or lazy, for his entire life. And by people he cares about. Frequently.
  2. Everyone is telling him, “Bob! This shit is all your fault, and not anyone else's, because what you're doing is wrong! And they're tired of his constant shit, so nobody listens to RLM, and nobody values his opinion. That's why REACT was such a big deal, and preaching on the internet, too.
  3. The Conspiracy and the medical issues are of tremendous comfort, reassuring him that nothing is actually his fault.
  4. The day-to-day tribulations and frustrations in his own life, strengthen and reaffirm these delusions.
  5. Yes, there really is a conspiracy of people against him.
  6. This is a rough way to go through life, and I can't be surprised he wants a front-row seat to apocalypse, and to watch/hear the screams of everybody that's making fun of him.
  7. He clings to his diplomas, radio and Bible, for the respect he is unable to attain from traditional social circles.
Long story short - nobody like Bob, and the feeling's become mutual over time. And the harder life kicks him, the tighter he holds onto his Bible, CB radio and diplomas. He feels like people listen to him on the internet, and he'd rather be yelled at by trolls, than ignored altogether by life, family and God.

Next up (hopefully final post in the series), some relevant videos as well as open questions/suspicions.

I got the book today. Let the journey into madness begin. Also, as a side note.. I love the shitty pixelated fire. So professional looking.

@bacterium I'm already about 1/4 - 1/3 of the way in. I have no idea how many pages because apparently Bob decided that page numbers were unnecessary. It's a bit hard to read because his grammar and spelling are atrocious and his thoughts jump around a lot, but it's actually quite fascinating. It was written before he became the rage demon we all know and love and it's starting to fill some gaps in our knowledge base.
