Not "mad" but this is an objective observation.
Why is it considered appropriate to be so needlessly cruel and vicious at people with anorexia? In my own observances, I have never seen the level of hatred, hypocrisy, and naked cruelty hurled at deathfats like people do to an anorexic person.
From my observation, the main issue here is moralfagging. People are pissed at Eugenia and friends because they are promoting and glorifying a mental illness, and they don't want MUH CHILDREN, the ones they are too lazy to parent and are on the internet unsupervised 24/7, to catch the anorexics as if it were influenza.
Everybody knows that anorexia nervosa is a mental disorder. There are so so many books and movies aimed at teenagers about some vapid cunt who just wants to be pretty like the models in the magazines and ends up with a refeeding tube. When I was in high school we were forced to read multiple books on EDs and pro-ana/pro-mia was discussed in detail.
Meanwhile, being fat is perceived as a character flaw. If you're fat, it's because you're weak-willed, lazy and ignorant about nutrition. There are no preachy teen novels about little Tina who drowns out her feelings with chocolate after her father dies. Actually, I still remember that in one of the shitty anti-anorexia novels I had to read at school, there was this wonderful scene where our heroine is being visited by friends while in recovery, and she had a chubby roommate who snuck in candy bars from time to time. I shit you not, there was a part where anorexia girl is like "Well actually you have an ED too, you're a food addict!" and then everybody laughs. Shit was meant to be funny, as if the mere idea that disordered eating can go both ways is ridiculous.
Obesity is also perceived to be less "contagious" than anorexia. Nobody looks at Amberlynn and thinks "yeah I want to be that but bigger". There is a HAES movement but it's mostly women that are already fat and trying to justify it afterwards. None of them get fat on purpose because they like how it looks.
Tl;dr: Anorexics are super competitive and perceived to do more damage to others, while nobody in their right mind would ever want to be fat. Both are examples of disordered eating but one is being taken much more seriously than the other.
