the length of time eugenia has been illl and severely underweight.what is the metric that makes it too far gone for her (genuinely) ?
a single drop down to a low weight will take years for your body to heal from, even once you're weight restored. eugenia has been varying degrees of concerningly skinny for a decade. plus she will have lost bone mass she's past the age of regaining, metabolised much essential fat, every one of her organs will be fighting against severe malnutrition, she's probably covered in tiny cuts and bruises- the ones you pick up in daily life and don't notice cos they heal, hers won't- and every one of them could be the door to an infection her body can't fight off, she's at risk of a heart attack at any moment, even if she's not bping she's at risk of electrolyte imbalance, things like hyponatremia can occur with highly restricted diets. there is so much damage to every system of her body that a full recovery with a decent quality of life is not really possible.
the risk is compounded the longer these conditions are maintained and the more entrenched the ED is. imagine never having prepared a meal of your own choosing, and eaten it willingly, in your entire adult life, it takes less than a month to form a habit, so think about the grip a severe mental illness will have with over a decade completely unchecked.
i see you're new, while you're welcome to share knowledge you've learned through personal experience try to think of ways to frame it in as general a way as possible. otherwise people can be pretty brutal.
