You are correct. It is called Boerhaave syndrome, or spontaneous effort rupture of the esophagus. Basically, the person pukes and retches so hard that their esophagus falls apart and then they die.

There is another phenomenon called a Mallory-Weiss tear, which is a laceration where the esophagus meets the stomach. It can be life threatening if the hemorrhage cannot be controlled. It is usually caused by forceful or protracted vomiting, but can also happen as a result of coughing, straining to lift a heavy object, snoring, CPR, or - horrifyingly - hiccups.

The point of them is for her to show off to herself (and others) how emaciated she is. She might be doing it for thinspo, she is trying to show off how 'glamous' and 'pretty' she thinks she looks.

Notice also the black eye makeup, it both makes her look like some shitty version of a goth and is done to hide the sunken eyes, but to her she probably also uses it to make herself look demure and mysterious and fragile (which she does by also looking down/away.)

I get that. But her job is “influencer”. Influencers are always promoting something. A fashion brand, makeup, a plastic bottle, juice, etc what does she ever promote
