I am doubtful Dorian was ever as thin as Eugenia. Eugenia has a degree of Anorexia that's rare and very difficult to survive. The people I am aware of within the media and social media who were as thin as Eugenia are all dead apart from Ashley Isaacs.

Dorian is also unfamiliar with the U.S psychiatric system and assumes "something can be done" about Eugenia.

The only thing Dorian gets right is the comparison made about Anorexia and addiction - that's spot on. Anorexia is absolutely an addiction or like an addiction. Which is probably why there is a fondness for Dorian looking back thinking about being super skinny (though not as skinny as Eugenia).

I have in my head a memory of some pictures of a VERY thin Dorian (Jennifer at the time) but no idea where I saw them or if they're still around. I don't think she was quite as bad as Eugenia but she was certainly not healthy.

You're correct. We've seen photos where she's unquestionably far too thin, but it's the "I was as bad as-- or worse!-- than Eugenia" photos that she never manages to produce. I am too. She likes to exaggerate and play things up for the drama factor. It's yet another element of anorexia she's never managed to get away from: the competitiveness and need to be the best.

It's just a boilerplate codependent relationship

Every Disney trip comes with pictures of her on the resort transportation. Most of them have no actual rides in sight, but she always wants you to know she took a boat or the skyliner somewhere. It's really weird.

If it's meant to be showing off her money, it's not a good strategy; anyone can use those, you don't have to stay at a

hotel for it.

Blah blah blah. The U.S doesn't have any real mental health safety nets or protocol other than locking a suicidal person up for a week at most. This person is from the U.K where a different system exists. Foreigners just don't understand that a mentally ill person in the United States isn't going into mandatory treatment. The state doesn't typically give a wild shit.

The only thing that can be done is a conservatorship like I mentioned above already. But Eugenia Mother wouldn't be a good "conservator" for her daughter at all. There is no saving this sad ship that's going down.

And the parents would have to get a lawyer and take Eugenia to court to convince a judge that she is mentally incompetent to live on her own and take care of her own finances, feed herself (lol), take care of a child which still is a consideration whether a child exists under her care or not. She isn't any of those things, but that isn't relevant.

Honestly the friends managing to get her 5150'd is seen to be a good thing, but I don't agree because she doesn't fit the criteria. Rehab good, manipulation bad. To get into mandatory psych, you have to say the magic words: "I am going to kill myself." There are other factors that can qualify you but that is the overarching rule. Then the mandatory stay is 3 days. Three. Once she was there they had reason enough to keep her for a while obviously. Even with a hold, even with the stay for rehab, they can't fix the underlying issue. The patient has to want to do that themselves and cooperate.

Don't get your friend falsely arrested/committed because you don't like what they do!

I've been waiting for more people to say this. All the footage we have seen of her shows her to be seemingly oblivious or in serious denial of Eugenias condition. I could see a negligent and mentally immature person shrugging off her condition like, "Well thats just how she is!".

Weighing in (lol) on the Herbs and Alters girl being as thin as Eugenia. As smart people in this thread have pointed out, most people simply can't tolerate living at a low body weight of what looks like about 35 kg at 5' 8", much in the same way someone can't eat their way up to 500 lbs and soldier on for years. This level of anorexia nervosa is even more rare. This is mental illness so strong the patient cannot even go with the basic human instinct to eat and drink to maintain basic body function.

Any guy with sisters or a girlfriend has probably seen someone crash diet to being a little underweight. I'm sure this girl was a neurotic and miserable teenager just like she is a neurotic and miserable adult. That much she shares with Eugenia. I doubt she did much more than scare her equally neurotic mother when her BMI slipped below 18 for half a second. Special sick angel baby gets taken to the pediatrician and begged to eat, maybe started on an SSRI, and put in therapy.

It's good to deal with things before they become issues, but this chick needs to find a new way to seethe and cope. Or maybe become a cow in her own right that she's "relapsing", start a gray market Ozempic abuse journey, and get her own thread. I really can't believe there isn't a thread like that yet.

The Dutch documentary people refer to sometimes in this thread about the Anorexic teenager that died should be very eye opening for people (especially the Reddit crowd that talks about Eugenia). It's a terrifying documentary because the mental disease didn't have a cause. There was no trauma, the family wasn't dysfunctional but for whatever reason the daughter become super mentally ill with Anorexia and then died of it. She also looked horrifying towards the end.

Everyone likes to speculate about Eugenia having mountains of trauma and being abused but what if none of this happened? Maybe the problem is just her brain. Deb did not make her daughter become an Anorexic either. Jesus Christ. We don't know what causes a mental illness like this.

She missed her whole life. She uses modern social media but it's like she never left the MySpace era. She is still her teenage self except she's 30 years old. It's like it's 2008 forever and ever... Except with Tiktok.

If she somehow recovered it would be absolutely devastating for her to realize the reality and how much time has gone by. I feel like she's not able to have this realization due to her illness and being malnourished.

I almost get the feeling these trips to Disney World with mom are like mom’s version of make a wish trips.

The psychiatrists in her part of CT must be very familiar with rich girls and anorexia. It’s hard to fathom what sort of advice her mom may have been given over the years. Whatever it’s been she seems to think Eugenia’s SM streamer career is a positive in her life, which is a grave error. But I could see some boomer psych telling her years ago to help Eugenia focus on positive and career oriented goals. In the past anorexics just starved and died at home. I don’t think the psych world really understood how enmeshed social media and ED would become a decade ago.
