I agree he was cringe, and I disagree that it hurt. Elon being cringe was baked into the Elon Musk package.

"elon musk is too autistic for politics" would be true if he was the candidate. As a campaign surrogate and Trump pusher, he did fine. He didn't have as big an effect as inflation and all the other garbage over the last 4 years, but he wasn't a net detriment to the campaign. Every little bit helps.

His biggest contribution to Trump was his America Pac, not only by financing Trump but I was also hearing a Democratic strategist say that they believe his petition lottery got Trump around 50.000 votes in Pennsylvania by mobilizing conservative people that wouldn't normally register or participate in voting. There was also the fact that his Pac bussed in Pennsylvania voters for free to the polls to help Republican turnout.

Also at least Joe Rogan claims it was Musk that convinced him to endorse/support Trump
