It's inevitable at this point, since every place, online and in real life, has already been captured. Places and organizations that haven't bent at the knee will eventually fold. Money is usually a key factor in capturing a place, including pleasing wealthy billionaires, and avoiding their anger.

The grossest part about transhumanists, especially of the Rothblatt variety, is they don't want to improve on things that already exist, like mechincal limbs for amputees to help them live. They want to chase ghoulish fantasies of immortality. Rothblatt has made a robot head of his melanated wife, called Bina48 because - and he has outright said this - he "can't live without her". He hopes to upload his consciousness somewhere else eventually. Much like how he can't cope with the reality of his sex, he can't cope with the inevitability of death.

Transhumanism and transgenderism are very much linked.

Anyway, to keep it thread related, Musk is a faggot and he'll go to Mars about as much as Rothblatt will achieve immortality.

I am a huge astrophysics/astronomy nerd and yeah, there's zero chance we are going to Mars anytime soon.

Mars is very uninhabitable. Before we even send people there, there needs to be somewhere for them to stay with food. Food will need to be grown and water recycled because the trip is so damn far. Water recycling is no big deal but growing food is going to be difficult. The habitat has to have room for the food growing (more room than you think) and it also has to have the resources in it to do so (light, dirt, more water for the plants, etc). This is needed because it's a one-way trip. Mars has enough gravity where the amount of fuel needed for a return trip is a lot and returning just isn't feasible.

The worst part is that if one little thing goes wrong, the whole damn colony dies.

Sending rovers to Mars is way more boring but honestly the only way we will ever explore it anytime soon. I'd be very surprised if we have humans on Mars within the next 100 years.

I assume he's enamoured with old internet culture and is insecure that he didn't play a big part in it, culture-wise anyway.

Those places were the dollar and tethered currencies reign supreme have been captured with FORCE, as in military force. The dollar is just worth whatever threat the U.S. can pose to it's opponents - those enemies already get rooted out by very analog means and permanently so - we all should concern ourselves with that. It's not even remotely close to that, last I checked we were supposed to be beyond the point of no return decades ago. If humanity could survive the Toba eruption we can survive the mistakes made by industrialization and pollution this time around. We made it and we can fix it if populist environmentalism continues to gain ground against mass polluters like Musk.

As much as people might hate on socialists, some of us do believe in the old ways: the potential of mankind to achieve great things on our own human merits, equality of sex and race, liberation of the working class to own their means of production and most importantly to preserve our human dignity and culture, and prosperity through collective hard work for all.

Not some of Elon's goofy Doggy space missions where the poor bastards are sent to die from radiation poisoning. That's one of the worst deaths imaginable. Suffering and dying from it on his ketamine-inspired Mars base would be even worse.

Old internet was honestly pretty boring, too. For every good thread on 4chan, there were 500 stupid threads like "if someone posts doubles ill post a pic of my dick" or something equally retarded. Old social media was just like today's only less monetized but just as boring. No one cares what some random person had for lunch. SomethingAwful had some okay articles back in the day but the forums, like 4chan, were 99% boring shit.

The Internet is truly the greatest weapon we have, nothing like this has ever existed before when it comes to populist unity. Seeing the nominally richest man in the world make a fool of himself and embarrass the POTUS through his stupid actions in real time has been a treat.
