I watched Heated Rivalry, start to finish. This might come off as a surprise but the series is about 0% hockey in the sense that although you can see them skate all over the place, shoot the puck every now and then, it's all fast-paced and it may last about thirty seconds. There's no particular strategy talk besides one or the other being like "L-Let's win, guys!" in the locker room.
As for the sex: yes. There is a lot of it. If anything, the entire series is gay porn. Still, I don't know why a troon of all kinds would be interested in it. Maybe they just enjoy anything that satiates their need for porn? I don't know.
As for the love aspect: the love is sex-induced, meaning that there is barely no talking that would otherwise result in a healthy relationship. But do they (there are two couples formed in the entire series) seem healthy? I don't know, they just smile and fuck and laugh, so there's not enough information to confirm or deny that claim.
By the end of the series, the protagonists (the gay Japanese-Canadian guy and the bisexual Russian guy) say that they love each other, which is interesting because they had been fucking on and off for more than half a decade. From what was shown, they would sext all the time, leaving no space for emotional affairs.

Troons might not be interested unless they were always gay, but pooners would want to watch two guys go at it because they never got over their fujoshi stage. Oh, you just reminded me of one scene where the Russian guy rims the Japanese-Canadian one. I personally find it incredibly disgusting because, erhm, poop comes out of that hole.
Also, there's barely any pain experienced by the Japanese-Canadian guy (mostly a bottom throughout the series): the anal sphincters aren't particularly elastic and, no, the series did not depict any semblance of lube.
If you were to ask me, that series is ridiculously harmful because
  • It depicts relationship-forming mostly through hook-ups as normal and good (yikes)
  • It tells men that licking assholes is totally normal (ew)
  • It tells men that anal sex is not uncomfortable and/or painful at all without lube
  • It tells men that anal sex does not warrant douching (was not mentioned a single time throughout the series, although it is standard in "gay culture"), although truth be told I read one paper years ago about how not doing it decreases your chance of contracting HIV :smug:
