Back in the day, this would be the kind of film that sells itself because everyone is familiar with the basics of the story, but younger people aren't as familiar with the classics and epics so Nolan's working off of outdated logic. Put a gun to the head of the average zoomer and ask them what the Epic of Gilgamesh is about. They likely have never even heard of it.
