Early articles claim she grew up with progressive Buddhist parents. Mom is a French teacher, dad is a graphic designer. Based dad may have swung right in reaction to woke insanity. But years ago, the narrative was not that she had conservative parents. They belonged to a hard-partying, AIDS-spreading Tibetan Buddhist cult leftover from the sixties.
Only after she adopted troonery, did a new narrative emerge about her homophobic conservative upbringing. No mentioning the Buddhism anymore.
To jump on the trainer conspiracy train: Shambhala Buddhism's founder made his way out of Tibet around the same time the Dalai Lama did. Lots of allegations about CIA involvement there. I don't know that he would have remained any sort of asset in all his "crazywisdom" over the years. But the Shambhala Buddhists seem like a mysteriously well-connected and well-moneyed group of people.
